SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: Height: 81 millimeters(3 1/4 inches) Bowl Diameter: 17 millimeters(2/3 inch) Top Lip Diameter: 24 millimeters(1 inch) Base Diameter: 12 millimeters(1/2 inch) Weight: 5.70 grams. CONDITION: Very good though bears evidence of a very neat. Professional repair. Minor scratches and scuffs consistent with use and then burial in soil. DETAIL: This is a very handsome. Complete second century A.D. Roman glass perfume bottle(or“unguentarium” which possesses a light iridescent burial patina with purple, pink, blue and green highlights. Most Roman glass vessels recovered complete(intact or repairable) are between 1½ and 3 inches in size– this one obviously exceeds the high end of this scale. However though complete, in a sense it is not intact. The glass perfume bottle was broken, whether in ancient times or perhaps when it was excavated, as there is a fairly clean break toward the bottom. The repair however seems to have been made with bitumen(tar) which would indicate that the repair was ancient. Some of the bitumen has been lost, so there is a small hole in the side of the bottle. But it appears to have been repaired and reused in ancient Rome– a rather uncommon find. Small jars. Pitchers, unguentariums, jugs, bottles, jars and flasks like this were used to contain aromatic oils, perfumes, medicinal ointments, and cosmetics. It is not to say that the Romans did not use larger pieces of glass on their tables such as bowls and cups; and even larger containers for transporting foodstuffs; because they did. In fact whatever the Romans had produced in clay in the first and second centuries B.C. was by the first and second centuries A.D. more common

Description: Gorgeous antique French sterling silver& cut glass perfume bottle trio set within a sterling silver holder. The cut glass is done in a vibrant shade of green terminating to clear. Having silver lids with a slightly conical top and decorated with a running coin patterned border. Revealing silver collars and original glass stoppers. Each bottle is wedge shaped and their dimensions make up one third of a circle. Neatly and compactly set into a fitted matching silver base. Stands 5 1/8" Each bottle measures 4 5/8" in height x 2 1/8" width. The holder has 3 1/8" diameter at the base. Hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark. Which depicts the goddess Minerva with a number 1 beside her indicating a silver content of.950/1000 silver(95% pure silver and a higher grade than.925 sterling) Maker's ... moremarks depict a peach between initials L.P. for Louis Péchard, active in 1911 at 94 rue du Temple in Paris. Listed Is a Beautiful Green Glass Perfume Bottle With a White Enamel Flower And Gold Leaf Design. All of the decoration seems to be in excellent condition. There are no breaks cracks or chips. Overall very good condition. The top is a metal with a gold colored covering. It has rubbed off in a few spots where your fingers grip it to take it off. The rose finial on the top unscrews partially and has 2 small holes in it. I assume you would unscrew the rose on top to sprinkle the perfume on. When the whole top is off. Item Description While starting bids may vary I ALWAYS POST WITH NO RESERVE! Up for auction is a lovely light green. Opaque glass(milk glass? Perfume Bottle with Atomizer and Bulb. The style reminds me of some Mount Washington bottles& biscuit jars I have seen but there is no makers mark. It was likely made c. early 1900's. The glass bottle is slightly shaded with a lighter color at the top which gets darker as you move toward the bottom. The floral designs are Pink& Sage with yellow and gold accents. All the floral and leaf enamels are in excellent condition with only very minimal loss, if any. It has a sunken pontil on the bottom. No chips, cracks or repairs noted, other than the new bulb I put on. The gold tone atomizer screws on and off easily. The internal brass syphon tube is intact. The bulb is new and when squeezed puffs ... moreof air do come out. The collar has a few light scratches and dings. It is about 6 inches tall to the center top of the atomizer and it is about 3 1/2 inches across at the widest part. A very lovely perfume bottle in a in excellent condition!
