LOVELY PAIR OF ART NOUVEAU NORTH AMERICAN NATIVE INDIAN GILT CAST IRON BOOKENDS
Why not have a look at my other auctions and store items for interesting militaria etc? Here is a lovely set of bookends. Likely made from the 1880's to the 1940's. They are certainly Art Nouveau style but then the Native romantic period approximately spans those years too. These are cast iron with a lovely gold patina, not unlike a Vienna bronze finish. Each is 4 1/4" wide and 3 5/8" tall. The pair is in excellent condition. The fellow depicted is wearing a chief's head dress of eagle feathers, a medallion around his neck and typical choker neckband. They're a great set of turn-of-the-century art and would make a nice addition to any Art Nouveau collection, as well as any library collection. Perfect also for an Art Deco book case. This is a great piece of hand made wrought iron art work. Not sure if it's a tureen caddy or soup bowl caddy. But I do know it must have taken many hours to make. Beautiful, Large, & Unique Cast Iron Incense Burner, Art Deco, Original Finish!
This is a very attractive vintage incense burner(I believe.at least that's what I've used it for! It's a two-piece item. And I b elieve that one is to put sand in the bottom. Into which incense sticks are placed. It can hold many! The casting is really attractive, a leaf, f oliage. And floral design. I'm certain that the piece has it's original finish which is a sort of gold paint/wash on the top and the bottom of the piece. The bowl, is black enamel. It's 10 1/2" in diameter and about 2 1/2" high. Very heavy(6 pounds! There are several superficial rusty spots on the interior bottom, as shown. more stains. This is a very handsome. Antique Cast Iron Ashtray / Smoking Stand - Art Deco Figural Dragon - 25" Tall
Antique Cast Iron Ashtray/ Smoking Stand- Art Deco Figural Dragon- 25" Tall: Up for auction is a fantastic Antique/ Vintage Cast Iron Ashtray Stand that I came across on one of my recent'picking adventures' The ashtray/ smoking stand is in excellent condition as it is very clean and it is free of any cracks. Chips, breaks or repairs. The heavy ashtray cup sits perfectly between the body and curled up tail of the dragon, secured in place by two small slotted groves on the cup itself and the cup is easily removed from the stand for cleaning. The inside of the cup is very clean, showing only the slightest area of surface rust(easily cleaned) and this light surface rust is not penetrating nor is the cast iron pitted in any way. What is missing from the the ashtray cup is the lid which would rest on top and hide the contents of the ... moreashtray. This is not a major concern as these lids can be found from time to time and the absence of the lid takes nothing away from the wonderful look and appeal to this stand. The entire stand is painted in a way which resembles that of copper with a perfectly aged patina. Initially I had photographed the stand outside under the natural sunlight but I was finding that the sunlight was too bright, giving the coloration of the stand a more golden yellow toned color versus the actual copper toned look that it has however I found that the natural sunlight brought out the fantastic details of the stand so I decided to keep them with this posting but please know that the coloration is best represented in the photographs of the stand against the plain white sheet of paper. The paint is also in excellent condition having only a couple of small chips in it, all of which are hard to notice unless closely inspecting the piece and the ornate base raises the stand slightly off of the floor while balancing the piece perfectly in a sturdy manner. Heavy Vintage iron Rooster. It looks like Folk Art and I couldn't find a comparable. The bottom looks like a steel can top. It's heavy and it feels like solid iron. The paint is pretty bright on the Rooster. 4.5" tall and the Rooster is 4.5" beak to tail. Bought at house sale in Chicago. IL Thanks!

Antique Bradley and Hubbard- B&H Art Nouveau Cast Iron Ashtray/Pipe Tray/Cigars
This is an antique Art Nouveau cast iron tray with attached match box holder made by Bradley and Hubbard. On one side is a profile of a woman with flowing hair and her arm extended along the bottom of the tray. On the opposite side of the ashtray is a flower partially cut out of the iron. The tray measures 8" long. 4" in wide and 3 1/4" high. It is in excellent condition. It has a lovely rich brown patina with a hint of rust. The photos make it appear rusted all over. A vintage base made of cast iron. The base is apr. 13 inches in diameter and apr. 4 inches tall. The center hole is tapered and has a thumb screw on the bottom side for tightening purpose. The top of the hole is apr. 7/8 of an inch in diameter and tapers down to 1/2 inch in diameter. There is loss and wear to the painted finish. The base weighs a little over 3 lbs. before packaging. Art Deco Running Greyhound Medallion Cast Iron Magazine Rack, Awesome!!!
Hi! Up for auction is this terrific art deco Greyhound pierced medallion cast iron magazine rack in"as found" condition. There is chipping paint. Surface rust, base metal showing. Other than on the internet, I have never seen another one. My husband and I were at an estate sale recently and down in a dark corner of the garage(where no one else was looking) I spotted this guy. At first, from what I could see of the form, I thought it was a water hose reel. He was covered in dirt and cobwebs and I knew someone would love him.The dog is running inside the circle-there are what I believe to be acanthus leaf-designs inside the circle as well. The paint on the piece(at least the top layer) is gloss black, but where it is chipping, there appears to be a layer of white paint underneath; in areas where that is gone, there's a gold paint ... moreor metal-I saw one like this while doing some research that appeared to be brass(maybe this is brass plated iron-because I know that brass doesn't rust, but the gold color could be from plating? There is absolutely no maker's mark that I could find anywhere. Turned upside down, there are six regular"flat head" metal screws that attach the bottom plate. There are small feet about 1/4-1/2" high. From what I could gather about the others, this was made from about 1920-30. I've taken some approximate measurements-it's around 13-14" high, 11 1/2" long, and 4 3/4" wide. It weighs about 12 lbs. 4 oz. I really do hope someone loves him and will make a special place for him in their home(and not garage) I don't accept returns unless there's some flaw I've missed! Items shipped from our clean. In this auction we have an antique cast iron frog doorstop. ... moreThis is unmarked so we are not able to attribute this back to a specific maker. But perhaps there is a cast iron frog enthusiast that would like to share a little knowledge? We are told that this piece is quite old and likely dates back to the late 1800s early 1900s due to the shape, size, sprue marks, and paint remnants. This could also be used in lots of places like as a paperweight, or a garden statue, or a single bookend, or even a finial on a post. The bottom is recessed and has a threaded hole which should take a bolt to secure it down. The large lump on the bottom is actually a"sprue" mark. That is where the metal was poured into the mold from a hole on the outside. Some companies will cut them and grind them, and others will not. This one chose the"will not" path. There is a bit of residual original green paint the some of the more recessed areas. There is also some great patina mixed in on the bottom as well. This measures approx 5 1/2" x 2 3/4" x 4 1/2" and weighs in at just short of 5 lbs. This does show some wear in line with age, other than that this is a nice piece with tons of character. Good Luck! The surrounding circular border and the entire back side do attract a magnet so are probably copper or bronze-plated iron or steel. The plaque measures about 12 5/8" diameter. It is in excellent condition with no significant issues. There are a few very minimal dings to outside edge. Patina and coloration are excellent. A rare. Very heavy, old original solid cast iron set of antique bookends featuring a terrier standing with it's tail up. Circa 1920. This is a wonderful old set of antique bookends that have the beautiful lines and'softness' from the cast iron being handled for so many years. Circa 1920. The terrier bookends stand up straight with their tails up. Each bookend stands 5" tall, 6 1/2" long, 2" wide and weighs 3 lbs. 12 oz. 7 lbs. 8 oz. for the pair) They are in very good original condition. Most likely these were made by Littco or Hubley. They could easily be used as doorstops.

Very rare. Old, original, heavy set of bookends featuring a puppy on alert by Littlestown Hardware and Foundry, Littlestown, PA. known as LITTCO. Circa 1920. This set was painted in a creamy white color which was very rare for LITTCO products. Typically, the metal arts products such as bookends were plated cast iron. They did bookends exclusively in cast iron. This set was made using a two-piece mold. The puppy is fully figural mounted on the base with single-slotted screws. Each bookend stands 5 1/2" tall, 4 3/8" long, 3 1/2" wide and weighs 3 lbs. 1 oz. 6 lbs. 2 oz. for the pair) They are in very good condition. Authenticity is assured as one still has the original paper label on the bottom. Littlestown Hardware and Foundry. Littlestown, PA produced a variety of decorative metal arts products made from gray iron from about ... more1920 to 1932. It is important to note that these were produced between the wars as the iron was too valuable and necessary to make art products and instead was solely dedicated to the war effort. They had almost 50 different bookend designs in their catalog. The majority were plated cast iron although a few had paint. LITTCO never marked their metal arts products with a permanent shopmark or hallmark. The bookends all had paper labels generally placed on the bottom protective felt or bottom metal depending on the configuration of the base. This is the case with a great many of the decorative art metal manufacturers that made bookends and other metal arts particularly using iron. This is one major reason why the material is one of the greatest indicators in determining the age of bookends and other metal arts objects. By the 1930’s with the Great Depression devastating the country most of the major production of bookends had ended. A few lingered into the 40’s but basically the manufacturing was over. Today. I found this old piece at an estate sale a while back. I do not know too much about it other than it looks and feels really old. It is stamped in old Chinese on the bottom. Which also has a small hole present. It looks and feels to be cast iron, but it has a bronzed look as well. You can see from the pictures that there is a patina present in places.
