This listing is for a very fine circa 1890’s French Art Nouveau bronze bust of a young beauty with a hat. The piece measures 14 inches or 35.5 cm high. And is 7 inches or 18 cm at its widest. The bronze features a ¾ bust of a beautiful young woman wearing a large brimmed hat. She wears her hair loose and flowing under her hat. She has excellent rendering in her smiling face and hair. Also the details in ... moreher clothes is quite fine. The bronze has a milk chocolate brown patina or color, which is all original to the piece. It is signed on the back“G. VAN DER STRAETEN” this for Georges Van Der Straeten(1856-1928) who was Belgian in descent but lived and worked in Paris for much of his life. He began exhibiting at the Salon in 1885 and produced many portraits and some fanciful busts. There is also a foundry mark on the back for the Societe des Bronzes of Paris. Please reference Bronzes of the 19 th Century by Peter Kjellberg pages 622 and 665. The bronze is in excellent condition. There are minor age appropriate variations to the patina. This bust was made at a French foundry right around the year 1900 and has a little brass title plaque that reads LIBELLULE PAR A. de RANIERI(Sculptr) Libellule is the French word for dragonfly and Aristide de Ranieri. The statue is of an Art Nouveau stylized woman in a long flowing gown with partially exposed breasts. The woman has flowers in her hair and is admriing a butterfly which is down on her side. This is a lovely sculpture of a beautiful French lady sitting on a marble base or plinth. The woman is made of white metal and gilded and is in the art nouveau style. The sculpture is perched on a green and black marble plinth. The sculpture itself is 4 ½ inches high and it is 5 ¼ inches on the plinth. The sculpture likely started life as an ornament on a 19 th century French clock. The base was chipped in order to make the woman sit properly. The chips can not be seen when the sculpture is in place. There is some gilding loss to the woman. The woman may have been holding a spear or something when on the clock.

Offered is a fine gilt bronze Art Nouveau urn by the Barbedienne Foundry in Paris. It is an art nouveau interpretation of a classical form. With finely modeled, pierced loop handles that continue down the sides ending in raised anthemion motifs. Realistic, high bas relief sculptures of blackberries adorn the front and back of the body. It is signed just under the rim, finely hand engraved, F. Barbedienne Paris. You can see from the photos how it retains most of its original doré bronze finish. It will clean up beautifully, I have not even washed it, but I am leaving it in estate found condition as everyone likes their own level of cleaning on gilt items like this. Exquisite antique vintage 1920's Art Deco French sculpture by L. Bruns. This is an old original NOT a reproduction. Beautiful subject of a young girl and dog which was originally cold painted silver. You can still see traces of the silver paint in the crevices(my photos turned out golden in color but there is no gold color to the figures at all they have aged to a soft grayish patina) The sculpture rests on a beautiful black and butterscotch marble base that is 1 1/2" high. There have been no repairs or flaws to this lovely piece. It measures approx. 22" long by 9 1/2" high by 6" deep, the figures measure 20" long. This measures about 19 1/2" tall and about 19" across with a depth of about 8 3/4" The glass itself is a striped opaline with green and white.completely hand blown with a finely beveled and cut/finished rim. This measures about 15 1/2" long by itself and has a pontil mark on the base as photographed. The ormolu is a little off kilter and missing one screw that I can see.but you have to really look to notice. From any distance you cannot tell nor care. A great piece for use and display. Antique French Art Deco SNOWBALL FIGHT children bookends solid bronze sculpture
Extremely rare pair of antique French Art Deco solid bronze bookends featuring children having a snowball fight. Circa 1915. The children have a snowball in hand with extras resting on the other arm waiting to pelt. They are sitting on sleds which were molded to resemble wood. They are wearing sleeveless jumpsuits and booties with a gathered collar. Pointed hats with a feather. Delightful. Each bookend stands 4 1/2" tall, 41/4" long, 2 1/2" wide and weighs 2 lbs. 4 lbs. for the pair) They are in very good condition. The bronzes are both fine, one feather is closer to the cap than the other and appears to be the way it was made. The marble has a few chips. Both are marked with the number 670 under the sled frame. Original French art deco panther sculpture by French artist Irenee Rochard(active 1906-1984) Circa 1925. Irenee Rochard was born in 1906 in Villefranche-sur-Saone(Rhone) She died in Paris 1984. She was famous for her wonderful animal sculptures. She was a student in the Beaux-Arts Art-Deco School from 1924 to 1928 and member of the French Artists Society from 1938 onwards. she received her first award for a panther sculpture when she was just 22 years old after just leaving art school. She won numerous prizes and distinctions from the French Artists Society in the 1930's and'40s. Including a bronze medal in 1941. Her work was exceptional and is now becoming highly sought after. Extremely rare set of old original bookends featuring the magnificent Kangaroo. Circa 1930. This pair of Kangaroo bookends are high quality and nicely detailed with beautiful lines. The Kangaroos are sitting up with their paws in front of them. Each bookend stands 5 3/4" tall. 4 7/8" long, 3 5/8" wide and weighs 2 lb. 5 oz(4 lb. 10 oz for the pair) They are in very good original condition.
