Up for auction I have a cute little miniature scotty dog or some type of terrier in the cold painted bronze Vienna- style. This little guy. However, was made in Japan, as embossed on his underside. I cannot make out what the maker's mark inside of the diamond shape says. This piece is about two inches long. I can get better measurements if needed. I assume it is bronze, but it could be a different metal, I am not entirely knowledgeable about types of metal. There is a loop on the dog's collar which may have held a leash or something. There is an unusual hole in the dog's mouth. Where he must have held something, or perhaps where he is meant to hold something(almost the size of a pencil or cigarette) Some paint is flaking off, as is usual for an old piece like this. The spout neck is hollow, the body solid. Impressed marked on underside with"B" in an urn for Bergman, Geschutzt, 3572. It measures 2-1/4" tall by 3-1/2" diameter. An absolutely stunning inkwell and an unusual find too. The cut glass inkwell is made from iridescent glass showcasing an array of colours and sits in a brass base. The collar and lid of the inkwell is also made from polished brass. On top of this sits a wonderful Austrian Cold Painted Bronze bird in flight. Perhaps a Kingfisher? Antique Miniature Cold Painted Austrian Bronze Reeve's Pheasant
I did lots of research on this little piece& have decided that it is an Austrian bronze miniature. It has a silver like color on the unpainted surface. Mainly under the tail feathers. From what I've read it is probably polychrome bronze. I also learned to do the tap method on various metals, for example zinc will make a dull thud sound when tapped with a pencil& bronze will have a ring to it, this little piece for sure has a ring to it when tapped. No idea of the age but my grandmother had this little pheasant& a couple of other birds for as long as I remember& that has been lots of years. I can remember wanting to play with them when I was little but they were always off limits with her saying that they were old& not for the grandkids to mess up. It is a Reeve's pheasant. The paint I learned is called cold painting. ... moreMost of it is there. The only real missing paint that was there to start with seems to be off of the head, this can be seen in the pictures. One has to get close to see that it has some missing. The little eyes are there& its so cool that you can see the irises. This little pheasant is 3 1/2" long& 1 5/8" tall. It is unmarked. Fine novelty bronze depicting Satan carrying a large trunk on his back the trunk is cold painted to show a dark brown wood effect which I have tried to show in the photos. The gold coloured match container door swings open and the recess to hold the matches is actually set deep into the marble base. I can find no makers mark though the inside of the trunk has a old green baize lining to it so it's possible the makers mark could be under the green baize. The quality and quirkiness and size lead me to belive it is most likely by franz bergman. Incredible fine detail and wonderful patina to the whole piece as can be seen in the photos. Undoubtably Austrian with his finely detailed lederhosen and dating circa 1880-1920s in age. Size, total height is 230 mm And marble base is 90 mm by 150 mm showing minor chips see photos. The hinged trunk ... morewill hold around 6- 8 thick cigars or many more cigarettes The trunk measures 120mm tall by 85mm wide by 60mm deep. As you can see the detail and craftsmanship that went into the design of the trunk such as the false lock and the hinged handle as well as the devils detail is outstanding. Devil seems to have some form of club or stick wrapped in his tail see photos. A very fine and rare collectors piece of which in 20 plus years of collecting antique devils I have never seen another similar.

It is a cold painted bronze of two golliwogs riding an alligator. It's simply delightful and you can get lost staring at it's wonderful details! Description: See all photos which describe it best) Measures 4" x 2" and is heavy. This piece dates to around the turn of the century(c1900- 1915) It is in overall very good condition with some paint wear as seen. Note: Photos were taken with a macro close-up lens to show you details. This lens emphasizes paint wear making spots look much bigger. If you see it in person you can't see hardly any of it(too tiny for the human eye) That said. It looks better when viewing it ... morein person. We do not see any markings–maker is unknown. The golly in the front has a fluffy head full of hair. It appears to be real hair with some other material wrapped around it. The golly in the back may have had hair once–you can see just a couple of tiny strands protruding from his head with the magnifier(see photos) Condition report: Other than typical paint loss here and there from age.
