RARE J.M. Jegglin Salt Glazed Stoneware Crock 4 gallon 19th Century Boonville
This very rare J.M. Jegglin crock was rescued from the bottom of an ice cellar that was getting ready to be filled in on a farm just outside of Victoria Kansas. It is a four gallon and measures approximately 11 1/2" x 11 1/2" I have not. Nor will I attempt to, try and clean this. It is in"ice cellar find" condition. A couple small chips that are shown in the pictures and a dimple from when it was manufactured on the side, which was hard to photograph and the remaining glazing is rough but no cracks or major damage. A GREAT CANDIDATE FOR RESTORATION IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING. I am not a stoneware expert so I will do my best to answer questions. Antique Central Pennsylvania? Stoneware Crock Pottery Stone Jar 4 Gallon
Late 1800's salt glazed stoneware crock with cobalt decoration. This crock features cobalt vines as well as several squiggle decorations. There is an impressed 4 gallon capacity mark between the decorations as well as a freehand 4 gallon capacity mark. This crock stands approximately 14.75" in height. Is 9.25" in diameter at the base, and 8.5" in diameter at the rim. This crock has some damage worth noting. There is an approximately 6" crack extending from the rim to the top of the right vining. It appears to have been stabilized with glue. There are 2 large shallow chips to the rim. One above the right ear, and the other slightly behind the right ear. There is a 2.5" in the firing crack next to the one previously described. There is a"y" shaped in the firing crack about 1.5" across between the ... moredecorations. This very rare white salt glazed Niloak 4 gallon crock. The item was found here in Benton Arkansas at a local sale. It is a four gallon and measures approximately 14 5/8" tall x 10 1/2" wide. Two pre fired drilled 1/8 holes were drilled at 180 degrees apart toward the top most probably set for a metal bail of of some type(see last photo)There is no lid. A couple small chips that are shown in the pictures and a 6 inch crack running down vertical from the top of the lid. I am not a stoneware expert so I will do my best to answer questions. Vtg 4 Four Gallon Ceramic Crock Brown & Cream Glaze Good Shape 11.5" h x 11.5" w
This listing is for: A vintage 4 gallon ceramic crock with cream-colored glaze on the lower half. And dark brown glaze above; interior glazed entirely in dark brown. The number 4 is stamped in blue on the cream area- to indicate the capacity- but there is no other mark. So I am unsure of the maker. The rim and base left unglazed. Previous owner placed adhesive fabric tape around the edge of the base. To keep it from scratching surfaces(see photo 4) Condition: Good vintage condition: No large chips. Flakes or cracks(only minor issues. described below) Unglazed rim and base have darkened with age. Numerous tiny bumps on the clay walls(under the glaze) from the time of manufacture. Small indentation(about 1/2" across) on inner edge of rim. Under the glaze(see photo 6) Perhaps a finger pressed into the clay wall? Tight hairlines form 3 x-shapes ... moreon base(photo 4) These hairlines are not visible on interior- the bottom is still sound- no leaking or seepage. Two tight hairlines(about 4" long and 5" long) starting at the rim. The clay walls are still tight and sound. Along one hairline. There are tiny fleabites in the glaze along the top inch of the line(visible in photos 7-8) In the other hairline. There is one fleabite. Glaze irregularities: Cream-colored glaze smudges on the unglazed base(photo 4) Around the base. In the lowest 2 inches of the cream glaze: l ight crazing(photo 9) and numerous pinpoint-sized spots(result of tiny bubbles in glaze popping during firing? See photo 3) A single larger glaze pop(1/8" across. Visible in photo 9) The brown exterior glaze makes a clean straight line around about 80% of the rim- but is a bit wavy and uneven around 20% of the rim. A few glaze skips. Mainly on bottom of the interior, and one around the exterior: Photo 5 shows the interior; see where light brown clay shows through the glaze. Photo 2 shows a small gap between the brown and cream glaze: 1/4" high unglazed strip runs halfway around crock. On the other side of the crock. The 2 colors overlap

Nice Antique Vintage Red Wing Union Stoneware 2 Gallon Oval Over 4" Wing Crock
This is a nice antique Red Wing stoneware crock with crisp. Bold markings and 4" wing. There are no cracks and little other damage, most of which looks factory(there are a few dings or burst bubbles on the inside and a few small chunks of clay and glaze missing along bottom edge on the sides next to extra chunks of clay and smudged glaze, shown in photos) The only significant after-market damage I can find is some dark spots of sticky residue on the bottom, shown in the photos. The crock measures about 9 1/2" H x 9 1/2" in diameter. It will be packed very well, double boxed, and insured during shipping. I have another 2 gallon like this one, identical in size, color, markings, etc. and they look fantastic together. The price is a little lower on that one because it has a couple hairlines. RARE, 1884 Incised 4 Gallon Crock Attributed To Red Wing & August Sandburg (S/A)
First off- thanks for dropping by. Up for consideration is a phenomenal piece of history thats origin is still unknown by stoneware experts worldwide. For many years. This piece with this design, and others like it, were attributed to the Minnesota Red Wing potter August Sandburg. It was believed he made these pieces around 1894. This crock states otherwise. In the past few years. Some experts have debunked that these were made by August Sandburg in 1894, and claim these pieces were made in Ohio. This belief stemmed solely from the black specks in the clay and the incised ring around the top rim. Not from a date incised in the stoneware. No pieces with an incised date have shown up to offer further proof. What makes this piece unique is that it's the only piece that has been attributed to"August Sandburg" with an incised date. ... more1884. That date supports the experts theory. Because the August Sandburg/Red Wing attributed pieces sold today are believed to be from 1894. There may be others dated and incised 1884, but they've not been mentioned nor can they be found through Google and top experts, even Red Wing experts, have told me they've not seen one incised. Ever. I urge you to research this yourself if your interested in bidding on this piece. I'm not the expert but I have had it checked out by those that are. The condition. I'd give an 8.5/10. It is not mint. There is a hairline crack in the front as well as the back. Both are extremely tight and barely visible, but they exist. The left handle has one very small chip, and the right has several, albeit small. See the pics. I can tell you I filled the crock to the top with water and left it for 18 hours and it did not leak at all. The incising is faint but I immediately saw the date of 1884 when I noticed it(after having owned the crock for 5+ years) but wasn't sure. Based upon the 1894 date for August Sandburg, and me being a skeptic. But I've had the crocks date& incising looked at for 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th opinions(in pe

Cowden and Wilcox 4 gallon blue decorated stoneware crock Harrisburg PA
Up for your consideration is a rare large 4 gallon Cowden and Wilcox drooping tulip. This crock is very clean but in fair to good condition. It has a t-shaped crack at base in front as pictured and extends to the base and is y-shaped. These cracks are not visible to the eye upon display and it sure does display beautifully. This is a wonderful RARE 1800'S ANTIQUE 1868 BROWN BROTHERS HUNTINGTON LONG ISLAND. NY 4 GALLON CROCK. The crock is in excellent condition except for a stress fracture that goes all the way down the side and has another fork that goes to one side. The crock weighs over 15 pounds and is 11 7/8" in diameter and 10 1/4" high. There is also a small stress fracture that I did not notice on the rim but noticed it in the pictures. The crock is embossed with"Brown Brothers Huntington L.I. 4 Huntington Makes The Best" I found a note in the crock that states"This#4 Huntington stone wear piece was put under roof(above third floor) probably when first bathroom installed in 19th cent. Discovered with other pieces in July 1993 by Louise, Ted and Jean) datch 177 Riverside Av, Riverside, CT 07878" Another piece of paper ... morestated"Discovered under roof of 177 Riverside Ave probably when 1st bathroom was put in circa 1875 by E.D. BOLD Antique Primitive 4 Gallon Salt Glazed Crock Cobalt Flower Decoration
This is an original antique 4 gallon salt glazed crock with beautiful BOLD cobalt blue flower design on the front that wraps around to the handles on the sides. The glaze is smooth. Shiny, and even and the crock is sturdy and solid overall, but there is some damage. There is a chip on the top inner rim, a hairline that runs halfway down the side from the rim, and splits into a short crow's foot, and some chips on the bottom edges of the handles. There is another very faint hairline on the other side that is difficult to see. The surface has some flea bites, shown in the photos. Regardless, it looks fantastic and would display nicely. It measures about 11" across x 12" H and will be packed very well, double boxed, and insured during shipping.

This is an Antique Blue Slip Wreath 4 gallon Stoneware Butter Churn or Crock. It is 16"h x 9 1/2"w. There is a wooden pole and beater which has broken off of the pole and needs to be repaired. It also has a wooden top with a hole for the beater to go through. There is a chip on the bottom edge around the back. It has overall discoloring from the firing. Otherwise it is very solid with no cracks.

This is an antique Ruckels 4 gallon stoneware crock recently acquired at an estate sale.A.D.Ruckels began making stoneware in 1870 in White Hall.Greene County,Illinois.The Greene County clay was of such quality and quantity that numerous potteries located in White Hall.At its peak Ruckels was shipping about 300 railroad cars of pottery per year.This 4 gallon crock shows wear consistent with age and use.Besides normal crazing of the glaze,there are some chips on the top rim and the base, and a crack about 6" long running horizontally near the base( please see the photos for a better description)I think these could be repaired by an experienced potter.It stands 12 1/2" tall and is 12 1/4" in diameter.It is marked in cobalt blue with a number 4 and"Ruckels Stoneware"It could be a good decorative piece for a rustic decor,addition ... moreto a collection,or repaired for actual use.It will be carefully packaged for safe shipping and will be insured.Thank you for looking. XLNT Antique Hand Turned 4 Gallon Birch Leaf Ski Oval Stoneware Crock NO CRACKS!
This is an excellent antique Red Wing stoneware crock with crisp bold cobalt blue markings including birch leaves and a ski oval. The glaze is shiny and even and super-clean. There are absolutely no cracks. But there are a few small chips. The one on the back, shown close-up in the photos looks like a small air bubble in the clay that broke open, and there is a chipped spot on the bottom edge and a slightly rough spot on the top edge. It is otherwise near-mint. It was definitely hand-turned and some slight ridges from turning are visible on the inside. The crock measures 11 3/4" H x 11 1/4" in diameter. It will be packed securely, double boxed, and insured during shipping.

Antique 5 Gallon Crock-Bail Handles-Red Wing Union Stoneware Co Pat 1915 4" Wing
This is a 5 gallon Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. Crock with original handles and 4" Wing. Overall very good condition. The photo shows the chipped blemish at the bottom edge of the crock which looks worse than it is because it's a very shallow chip. The crock handle near the patent date there appears to be a crack however it is not. It looks like that area was filled in a bit more than normal causing overlapping. Otherwise there are a couple areas that have slight surface fractures. Again, overall very nice crock. I offer very safe shipping.

Here was a neat find that came into the store today. I dont know much about stoneware but i knew it was worth putting on here. Its hard to see but in the one picture you can see a 4 stamped into the top. Has a W in the glaze. can see the crack in the top but it doesnt go through the bottom. It does have flaws. Antique 4 Gallon Red Wing Side Stamped Salt Glazed Drop 8 Target Crock
This is a scarce side-stamped 4 gallon Red Wing salt glaze crock with bold cobalt drop 8 and target design. The glaze is clean. Shiny, and even with no chips of flea bites, but unfortunately, there is a large crack that runs down the side toward the back, along the bottom edge for a few inches, then up the side toward the front a few more inches. It branches off into a crow's foot toward the back. The crack has been glued and is not loose in any way. The damage is not obvious from the front and the crock still displays beautifully. It measures 11 3/4" H x 11" W and will be packed securely, double boxed, and insured during shipping.
