Renaissance, and Baroque periods. The artist gives us a bird-eye view of the city's panorama. The rushing perspective draws our eye from the foreground-the large Gothic arch entryway-across to Charles Bridge. This bridge. Named after the Counter-Reformation Saint Charles Borromaus, is like the Gothic tower, one of the great monuments of this richly artistic city. Vintage Hammered Copper and Sterling Silver Plate / Wall Plaque Vicky 1950s Peru
For your consideration. A very cool little plate or wall plaque made of hand hammered copper and sterling silver by Vicky Industria Peruana, circa 1950s Peru. The plate has a large sterling silver anthropomorphic Incan bird god holding a staff and is hallmarked 925 on the base of the staff. The plate is in good vintage condition. There are some slight stains to the copper, as seen in pictures 2 and 3, but minimal patination. The piece has a hook on the back and is ready for hanging. Measures 5.75 inches in diameter. An intriguing little ethnic piece sure to add brightness and flare to your mid century decor scheme.

Fine large late 19 th/early 20 th century metalware relief wall plaque after the Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen(1770-1844) Depicting the ancient Greek mythological figure of‘Nyx’ or‘Night’ Thorvaldsen worked in the neo-classical style and was accepted into The Royal Academy of Arts at the age of eleven where he won many medals before spending most of his later working life in Rome. His statues can be seen in cities throughout Europe and his tomb monument for Pope Pius VII is the only work by a non-Italian in the Basilica of St Peter’s in Rome. The original marble relief of Nyx(1815) is on display in the Thorvaldsen Museum in Copenhagen and shows a winged angel floating in the night sky carrying two ... moresmall children in her arms. This Unique piece of art work is a hammered sheet brass heart nailed on to a heart shaped wood wall plaque. The nails used are very small nails and hard to see. They are on the outer edge. It say"Home Sweet Home" depicts a tree with a heart above. The metal hanger on the back is inserted into the wood and screwed in. It is 9" tall and 9-1/4" wide. There are some minor scratches on the brass. Looks like it might have been brushed with a non tarnish substance and a few places scratched off. No nicks or to the front of the wood but some on back edge with some scratches. Scratches are deeper than surface scratches. This is a piece of art work that can be enjoyed by all who see it. From estate. About 19 inches wide by 10 1/2 inches tall. All measurements at furthest points. The magnet does not stick to the item so it is highly likely that it is either iron or white metal, but more likely iron because the item is very heavy. I had trouble identifying the item-I called it a diorama but I am not so sure that is a proper designation. The word"plaque" is rather nondescript for an item as nice and interesting as this so perhaps it is best to call it a wall hanging. It appears to be about 1870- 1880. OK. I lied- not a bookend. But I wanted to get this in front of the community that knows and appreciates bronze clad decorative objects. I have uploaded new pictures in this re-listing. No flash was used. An absolutely stunning picture/ wall hanging/ plaque of a Colonial-era domestic hearth scene. Detail is incredible. Can be hung on the wall or displayed on a stand as a tabletop art piece. Electro-formed by Galvano Bronze as can be seen in their identifying label that actually is formed into the back: Galvano Bronze The S.C. Tarrant Co.Inc. New York. Also formed into the backs are the eye loops for the hanging wire. Probably 19-teens, certainly no later than the early 1920s. Condition is superb. No damage whatsoever within the art scene. The frame. Too, is in excellent shape, only the top right corner the very smallest bit mashed. The back ... morehas 2 little round holes and some small dents/breaks in the cladding immediately under the wrapped wire next to the eye loops- completely invisible unless you go looking for it. I see now I did not include a picture of the bottom edge of the frame, but it is in as fine shape as the other edges. Best of all. The paint is original and almost entirely intact. Colors are still vibrant and alive. This piece obviously has been cared for lovingly for almost 100 years. It is rare and it is beautiful. So I went to a favorite antique mall that always has an awesome February sale. Picked up lots of antiques and unique items to list! I also continue to list new items from the farm estate auction, with lookouts more new hardware pieces over the next several weeks. I am also going to one of my favorite flea market shows this weekend, so wish me luck! There’s something for everyone! Here is a lovely early piece of Louis Vincent Aronson Metal Art. Marked on the backside. L. V. A 1923, it is a metal relief image of the baby Jesus and Joseph with its original wall hanging loop at the back. This is a wonderful piece for the Aronson collector- most known for his Ronson lighters. Aronson was born in ... more1869 and attended the New York Technical School for metallurgy and metal working. He had a lab in the basement of his parents' home where he experimented with plating process on metal. These wonderful marked decorative pieces are very hard to find- so I was quick to grab it for you. The plaque measures 6 3/8" tall by 4" wide and is about 1/2" thick from the front to the back. It weighs a smidge under 1 lb, so it's heavy for its size. The metal is a silver color that is very dark in some spots from age. A magnet does not stick to it. It's hard to see in my photos, but in the light, you can still see a fair amount of the gold color of it's original plating. It is in excellent solid and sturdy condition- aside from the wear to the finish- no issues at all. You can see a new piece of tape on the front in my photos that I forgot to take off(it held on the dealer tag) it's been removed now, and the tape didn't alter the patina. It is dusty and could use a little cleaning, I have not cleaned, and have left in as found condition. It's a soulful piece. Please ask if you have any questions. Antique Auguste Cain BRONZE Sculpture Wall Plaque Chicken Rooster Gamebirds Fly
If you appreciate the Victorian era. You will LOVE this bronze signed sculptural wall placque by Auguste Cain. This antique piece is from Cain's earlier years when he would produce smaller bronze figurines of barnyard animals, sometimes with a whimsical slant. In this plaque, we see two slaughtered game birds hanging from pegs and there are flies on the wall around the birds. This is just such a typical subject matter of the late 1800's in Europe, done by an extremely talented sculptor whose father-in-law was P.J. Mene. The detail is amazing. You can see the feathers. The lines in the feet, the pegs in the rack at the top protrude from the plaque. The wing of the bird on the right hand side stands up nearly 1.5" from the background. You can see the veining in the fly's wings(bottom left of the piece) There is a second, smaller ... morefly at the top crawling on the herbs tucked into the rack at the top. This bronze is signed with the correct"A. Cain" engraved into the lower right hand side. The entire piece is about 10.5" long x about 5" wide. It is extremely heavy for its size. At over 2.25 pounds. Someone had soldered a ring to the back at some point so it will be easy for you to hang it in your kitchen or near the fireplace in the den. There are no cracks or repairs to this amazing bronze. Someone has polished it along the way and there are a few polishing marks. I just adore this piece and the other Auguste Cain bronze hen that we have in another listing this week. They would make such a great pair for your blue and white French country kitchen. For the colonial kitchen, the farmhouse style kitchen, etc. I'd also love to see this next to a bronze wall mirror and then mixed into a wall treatment of antique black and white prints all framed in walnut or gilded frames.
