Victorian Relief Cast Gilt Bronze Brass Box Old Testament Figures
This is an old and very beautiful heavy cast relief box with religious figures. The ornamentation is very well done and the arches suggest a Gothic Revival influence. There are Tudor rose and fleur de lis details as well as robed religious(old Testament) figure.There is a lock but no key. The interior is lined with blue velvet although there is no lining to the inside of the lid. The piece is in very good condition for its age. No markings were found. Weight is about 3 pounds and measures 6 inches by 3 and 1/4 by 3 inches tall. Please email with any questions.

Grand Large Victorian English Cast Brass Postal or Letter Scales c.1890
A magnificent and unusual pair of postal scales created from hefty cast solid English brass. Unmarked by the manufacturer but undoubtedly would have been made in one of the Birmingham foundry's, around 1890. The shaped weight holder is most unusual, crowing the top of the scales, lined in the original leather and complete with set of weights including the litter topper. Superb quality and condition, with a footprint measuring 13 1/4" x 6 1/4" and standing 8 1/2" to top of weights. A set to impress! Pair 1860s Cast Iron Rivets Cast Iron Architectural Capital Corinthian Victorian
Each of these finely preserved Civil War era cast iron elements is composed of 4 separately cast pieces joined by blacksmith rivets. They measure app. 6 ½” x 13” square and have 7 3/8” diameter center holes and are free of cracks and weld repairs. One tiny upper corner(near the rivet hole) on one face is gone. Otherwise there is no loss. The outer surfaces are pitted and rusty with warm brown naturally aged patina. The insides were painted red for some reason? Many of the original hammered rivets have been replaced with old round head machine bolts as an attractive form of repair. They have richly scrolled volutes and deeply cast egg and dart details on all 4 sides of each. These have a total packaged weight of almost 90 pounds and will ship in 2 packages. This large and ornate cast iron rarity dates from the late 1860s-early 1880s and measures 11” tall x 14” x 14” The open work cast iron top features elaborate Eastlake inspired designs and is supported by 4 tall feet. The pair in front are massive cabrioles with elaborate foliate knees and lions’ paw feet. The rear duo are simpler with Eastlake designs and understated claw feet. The entirety is barn fresh with old. Un-enhanced rusted surface showing pitting from years on the hearth. There is a large old stable crack on the top near the rear as shown in the close-ups. My scale computes to the nearest gram and it has been tested and calibrated. All my items are measured with a standard tape measure and are rounded off to the quarter inch. I attempt to be as accurate as possible. But odd surfaces can prove difficult sometimes as I lack a pair of calipers. I do not take apart or clean anything after listing an item. It is up to the new owner to clean silver and other metals. I am happy to ship overseas. But be aware of your country's customs laws. I have had items returned at considerable expense and I cannot be held accountable if my items cannot make it past such inspections. A note to silver scrappers: There are those who will claim that the weight of an object is less than advertised and demand a rebate after the auction has ended. This is an ongoing trend and these individuals seem to complain if silver prices go down between the day they buy and the day they receive. When melting silver. Rare Vintage Ornate Cast Iron VASE or URN with HANDLES and LID Victorian 17"
You are bidding on an ornate cast iron urn with handles and a lid. The urn is 17 inches tall with the lid on and about 12" with the lid removed. It is about 12" wide from handle to handle. The urn with the cover weighs about 9 1/2 pounds. I was not able to find any information about this urn so its age and origin are a bit of a mystery. There is no hallmark or manufacturers stamp that I could find. It is Victorian in style. The body is cast in two halves, and the base is bolted to the body but the handles are welded on, which makes me think it is not an antique. Although, it could have been gas welded but that's hard to do with cast iron. The only thing that possibly detracts from the overall presence is a bit of an epoxy material just under the finial on the cover but it actually blends pretty well. See last photo. The finial ... moreis also bolted on and very solid. It looks like this material was added just to fill the gap under the finial. Anyway. It is an absolutely stunning piece with a beautiful patina. This inkwell features a hinged fox head lid that has yellow glass eyes on top of an embossed reticulated base featuring acorns, leaves, a haversack and long guns. On the base it is marked, E G Zimmermann Hanau. This is an excellent casting with great detail visible all over on the lid and the base. The fox head is realistically modeled with a well delineated open mouth and teeth. It does have some condition issues; one of the cast tabs for the hinge is broken, and there is no longer a pin in place to hold the upper and lower portions together. In addition, one leaf is missing, on the left side. There is not an ink cup to set into the inkwell, and you can see some oxidation inside the hollow area. Still, it looks great, a very nicely done piece and quite desirable. We couldn't find another one like this one, so you'll want to keep an eye on this antique and unusual piece. Unusual Antique Vintage Victorian Double Cast Iron Inkwell w/ Candle Holder
This is a very unusual and beautiful(1800's? Victorian ink well that is made out of cast iron and features two glass inkwells. Along with a candle holder. There is some kind of bird figure in the center which makes up the base of the candle stick holder and there is also some kind of emblem in the center of the bird creature. There is also a place to hold two quills or pens. On the back of the Gothic framework shows the detailed back of the bird. Almost an Egyptian Deity? The Size is approximately 7 3/8” in height and 9” by 5 ½” wide base. The Condition; it has been painted by someone. There is wax on it in places from someone using a candle as evident in the photos, looks like something was burned in the bowl area. Punch and Judy are well known characters in folklore and popular culture with origins dating back to the 1300's. In the Commedia dell'Arte brought by troups of actors from Italy to the rest of Europe. The Italian storybook figure of Pulcinella was transformed into Mr Punch in England. MATCHED PAIR ANTIQUE VICTORIAN CAST IRON BOOT SCRAPERS
This is a matched pair of solid cast iron boot scrapers. Each has raised design identical on both sides. Aside from the myriad experiences in their antiquity and the grime and accumulation over their years they are. To my eye in beautiful condition with no chips, breaks or cracks of any kind. They are solid cast iron each weighing approx 4 lbs. There are traces of degraded old paint which in some areas tend to obscure the design and make them less sharp. A cleaning bath will surely remedy this condition. I have done nothing to clean them as many purists prefer them in as found condition. The only wear associated with these is a polished appearance at the very edges where hundreds if not thousands of boot scrapes have polished the cast iron which ads to their character. Vintage Art Nouveau/Victorian Style Footed Ornate Cast Metal Candle Holders (2)
This listing is for a set of Victorian/Art Nouveau style metal candle holders in a tarnished brass color. They are a beautiful design with lots of scrolling and what look like large Trumpet Lilies. The seperate part of acanthus leaves that flare out from the neck can be removed by unscrewing the top piece(photo 4) There is an insert for narrow candles(photo 5) that comes out giving you 2 sizes of candles that can be used. It's like having 2 for 1! There are also tiny holes in every other leaf to hang crystals. The candle holders are heavy. Well made pieces that are in excellent condition. They have a minuscule spattering of what appears to be white paint on each of the holders that easily comes off. I chose not to clean them as I try to leave my pieces in the state in which I purchased them.
