Antique Ornate Cast Iron Store Counter Receipt Note Holder Bill Sticker Spike
This is a very nice large ornate Victorian receipt or bill holder/sticker. It has a nice large square shape with rounded corners and a wonderful design on it. There are holes on the top of the top small square. There are 3 holes at the corners, should have been 4 but was never punched through in the making. The holes, I believe were for screwing down to a desk or counter top so it wouldn’t move but to me it is nice and heavy and isn’t going to move around much. There is a rough spot on bottom edge of one of the rounded corners but you don’t see it when it is sitting on counter. It has been clean with a wire wheel and is down to bare metal to either leave as is(which I prefer) or you can paint. It measures approx. 5” square and is 8 1/8” tall. The match holder has a cast iron tray with gold colored stars(some were covered with the black paint) lined in the front above stripes(mimics the American flag) The tray is riveted to a back plate having the image of a spread eagle. The eagle is well cast and shows very nice details. Such as the feathers, the talons, and the beak. This is a real nice vintage reproduction of the old pieces, which are becoming rarer and rarer. Offered for sale. A very nice cast brass or bronze watch hutch or holder, circa 1900. The casting is of good quality with nice detail, and has darkened over the years where the lacquer has been polished off- it has a very attractive look. If you prefer the look of polished brass, it could be cleaned. It is decorated with helmets, swords, spears, fasces, lions, and other symbols of power, unity and war. It measures 10 1/2" high, and 5" wide. The opening for the watch measures 1 1/2" which will fit a 12 size American watch very well. The cradle for the watch is large enough to take a watch up to 5/8" thick- a thinner watch will stand upright and tight to the opening if backed with a piece of cloth or tissue. Vintage/Antique Cast BRASS MOUSE HOLDING UP LEAF, Votive Candle Holder? Exc Cond
At first. I assumed this mouse was cast iron but after inspecting the bottom of the tail, I saw tiny places where the patina has come off(4th photo) and brass shows through. This mouse is holding up a leaf that is flat and level enough to hold a votive candle. I don't know if that is its intended used and there is no sign it has been used that way, but I can't think what else it might be. There are other brass mice with leaves that were intended as candle holders, so I think it is a good guess. The patina is green, white and black. It measures about 3 5/8" tall. The leaf is about 4 5/8" long and 3 1/2" wide and it is the longest and widest part of this piece. It is in excellent condition. Check out my other items! This is a very unusual and beautiful(1800's? Victorian ink well that is made out of cast iron and features two glass inkwells. Along with a candle holder. There is some kind of bird figure in the center which makes up the base of the candle stick holder and there is also some kind of emblem in the center of the bird creature. There is also a place to hold two quills or pens. On the back of the Gothic framework shows the detailed back of the bird. Almost an Egyptian Deity? The Size is approximately 7 3/8” in height and 9” by 5 ½” wide base. The Condition; it has been painted by someone. There is wax on it in places from someone using a candle as evident in the photos, looks like something was burned in the bowl area.
