Here we have a fine set of Schatz ships wheel clock and barometer. They are brass and wood and we believe are mid 20th century. The clock has its key and has been keeping great time for a few weeks. It rings on the hour and half hour but not 12 times at 12 or 10 times at ten. It is more like 2-5 rings so not sure if it needs to be cleaned or do they chime that way. Again it keeps great time. The barometer looks nice and clean but not sure if it works or not as I am not too familiar with this. They are mounted on a beautiful wood ships wheel and signed as you can see. They are about 3" wide and have beveled glass on each piece. There is some oxidation on the brass more at the top of the pieces than the bottom but its there. We live near the water and I'm sure that is why. Not really distracting unless you go up to them looking for the flaws. The faces are in great shape with little wear. Items I sell are not new. They have been used so do not expect mint condition unless otherwise noted. Measurements are approximate and may not be totally exact. Keep this in mind when bidding. Nice Old Antique Trunk. I am not sure of the exact age. But the lock on it is from Eagle Lock Co. Eagle lock was in business from 1833-1954. So the age of the trunk lies in that time frame. It is adorned with black metal trim and ornate brass accents. This old trunk does show it's age in places. But there is nothing major. A few nicks, and there are a few dents or ding marks in the black metal trim. On the top front you will see there is 2 areas of chipped or worn off wood, a small amount enough to where wood putty filler should be an easy fix if you wish. There is also a very small chip place on the side you can see in pic 6. One of the hinges on the back is missing one button, see pic 9, and there is some separation on some of the brass corner pieces you can see in pic 12. I think I have mentioned every flaw. And a beautiful brass spigot with a wooden handle. The copper has a fantastic patina with a rainbow hue. As noted above the burner unit is missing the fuel tank filler cover and the internal wick mechanism. The fuel tank has some small dents on the bottom, but is not visible when it is assembled. This is an extremely rare antique handmade 18th century Asian water pot. the wooden walls of this bucket is cut from one large piece of wood/tree so has no seams nor was it pieced together. It is composed of two pieces of wood. The sides and the bottom. a very rare design. The wooden structure is decorated with both vertical and horizontal extremely ornate brass bands which are raised and dimensional with beautifully hand engraved and cut out detailing. the pieces are beautifully riveted together with heavy duty brass rivets. the inside. Bottom, and rim also have the same beautiful brass pieces running down the walls to the bottom of the bucket. the handle is handmade from thick brass and a very innovative design which pivots up and down. each exposed wooden panel has a hand cut and engraved animal made from brass. it has Elephants. This Unique piece of art work is a hammered sheet brass heart nailed on to a heart shaped wood wall plaque. The nails used are very small nails and hard to see. They are on the outer edge. It say"Home Sweet Home" depicts a tree with a heart above. The metal hanger on the back is inserted into the wood and screwed in. It is 9" tall and 9-1/4" wide. There are some minor scratches on the brass. Looks like it might have been brushed with a non tarnish substance and a few places scratched off. No nicks or to the front of the wood but some on back edge with some scratches. Scratches are deeper than surface scratches. This is a piece of art work that can be enjoyed by all who see it. Brass label with"5"gallons) on it. Another brass label the says" Chas. G. Schenck. Columbus, O. Patented Nov. 8, 1898" S-C'15" on lip of spout- maybe this is the date this particular milk pail was made, 1915. All copper except for brass bottom band and brass bail handle. GREAT PATINA! I did not try to polish it except for a light wipe of a wet rag to get years of dust off of it. This brass box measures 3½” x 5¼” x 1½” high and features an Indian or other Eastern pattern throughout the top and sides. The light areas on the photos are flash. The interior of the box is wood. A previous owner has apparently used brass polish on it. And white residue, which I am not going to remove. Persists throughout. This is a beautiful little box. An attractive. Original 19th Century, Brass Kettle. May be from as early as 1890 to the 1910s Style and shape shows good proportion with brass finial on a decorative lid. And turned wooden handle. Dovetail seamed joints. Tinned inside. Possibly English or American. CONDITION- Decent Antique Condition- unpolished/ uncleaned. Expected use marks and minor dents found on body. With spout slightly off kilter, but I will let new owner straighten If so desired. Design on lip where lid sits has been worn in places as a result do cleaning over several decades as shown in photos. There have been two old repairs on the sides- see ohotos. I believe the handle supports are bronze, and are beautiful. The wood handle is attractive with two very minor chips missing. Dove-tailed construction on back as shown in photos. This is a fabulous much older trinket box. It is very well made in brass and porcelain with a wood interior. The box dates all the way back to the turn of the century. 1900. The top has an oval cameo featuring a romance scene which is framed in a bright rich blue. The cameo looks as if it was originally edged in gold, the great age of this box has appeared to of worn it away. The scene depicts 3 people dancing in period clothing. The inside of the box is very nicely lined in thin wood, which is in great shape. All 4 sides and the bottom of the box are made from brass, with a nice ornate pattern in it. The overall condition of this piece is very good to excellent, as I see no real issues to point out. Considering its age, it really looks great. The box stands 2 and a1/4 in high and measures 4 in by 3 in. This truly is a great find, it tells ... morethe story of times so very long ago, in such a fine manner. pitcher copper antique matching pair graduating 1800s 19th century brass wood
For auction is a pair of matching copper pitchers. One being slightly larger than the other. The pitchers appear to be handmade of copper and tin lined. I think they have rolled seams, but I’m not sure about that. The handles are riveted onto the sides of the pitchers. The wood on the handles and single lid is very dry and needs to be oiled. The handle of the shorter pitcher is slightly loose. They both hold water. I think they both have what’s called a large flanged lip. The pitchers are slightly flared and tapered from bottom to top. In nice condition generally, they have minor dings, dents and scratches from normal use. The tall pitcher shows some discoloration near the top edge and near the neck especially. I think that the handles are of brass and wood, but I don’t know the type of wood. I don’t know if these could be considered flagons ... moreor not. I’ve seen listings for similar looking pitchers claim that the items are from the 1800’s, but I’m very unsure if that is true in this case. The pitchers have a sort of a warm patina. It seems they would have more of a patina, or at least a darker patina being that old, but perhaps they were polished sometime in the past 100 years or so. I don’t see any markings on these. The taller pitcher measures about 4 ¾ inches at the tallest point and is just under 3 1/4 inches diameter at the bottom. The shorter pitcher stands about 4 inches tall at the tallest point and is also about 3 ¼ inches diameter at the bottom. The lid can fit either pitcher. Together, both pitchers and lid weigh 7.2 ounces alone with no packaging. As I understand it, copper pitchers of this form were often found in American kitchens in the 19 th century and were available in sets of graduating sizes. They were usually tin-lined. As these pieces are, so that they could be used for consumable liquids. They are very decorative and are often assembled by collectors to complete a set in different sizes. Great looking pair of old chamber-style candlesticks- please examine the pictures carefully. You are bidding on the exact items shown in the pictures. These candlesticks measure about 11 1/2 inches tall. The wood base is about 7 inches across. They are made out of Turned wood and brass(I think its brass anyway. But I'm not sure) I also don't know for sure what kind of wood this is but it might be maple- please use the pictures as your guide. The drip piece is metal but it is colored silver- I don't think it is actually silver, just silver plated or silver colored. One of the candlesticks has the bottom covered in green felt. But on the other one the felt has been removed, showing that the bottom has a metal plate holding the candlestick together. I don't know what the vintage of these candlesticks is. An officer of the Guards who had been on leave in Lucerne at that time of the fight. He began collecting money in 1818. The object bears the golden"FBW" mark(Fritz Bermann Wien) This figure is 62mm wide and 54mm tall. About the production of these miniatures The material of the object is brass. Achieving such a high level of detail requires a very complex and time intensive production process: At the beginning moulds of wax were created. Including drains for air and melted brass. All that was covered with clay. The mould was dried and fired. At the same time the wax melted and created a hollow space which was later filled with molten bronze. After casting and cooling the ceramic mould was destroyed and the brass core removed. The drains were then taken off and the whole surface was engraved ... moreby hammer and punch followed by the very costly and detailed painting.
