Mid 18th Century Brass Candlestick
This is a very elaborate Queen Anne candlestick. It dates somewhere between 1730 and1760 and has a wonderful patina. The threads are of the course variety found on the earlier period sticks. It is 6 3/4" tall with a 4" octagonal base. It has an unusually large 2 3/4" bobeche. It is in excellent condition. And has a wonderful uncleaned patina. It has three little holes in the bobeche, apparently where someone used to hang it or carry it. See my other listings for additional candlesticks.

Pair Early Antique Brass Epergne Bases Or Candlestick Holders
This is a very good quality pair of early epergne bases or candlestick holders. I believe they date mid-19th century. The detail on them is just beautiful. Unfortunately. Both of the glass vase parts are missing. There are only the brass holders and a small piece of glass in each. If you have glass vases that fit, you're in! Otherwise, they'd make a classy looking pair of candlesticks. But I'm not sure how to get the glass out though. They each measure 5 inches tall(12.7 cm) The bases are approximately 5 inches wide(12.7 cm) based on where you measure from. The little glass holder inserts are 3/4 inches tall by 1/2 inch wide(1.9 cm x 1.27 cm) The design on these is just wonderful. The detail is so intricate. Overall. Vintage Brass Soldier Candlestick Holder - Very Unique and Nice!
Up for bids is a rather interesting brass candlestick holder in the motif of a soldier(and a rather portly one at that! The holder measures as follows: overall height is 9.75" base diameter is abut 4.25" candle receptacle is 1" in diameter; diameter of soldier at his. Um, widest is about 3.5" Total weight is just under 11 oz. I purchased this fellow at an antique shop a number of years ago(at least 10) And he had been sitting on my Arts& Crafts candlestick stand(available for purchase in another auction) for much of that time. The style of our house has changed over the past couple of years, so it's time for both the stand and our little friend here to brighten another home. As you can see. He's in generally good shape- he's a bit bent here and there(see photos#5 and#6 in particular) as well as some dings ... moreand a hole in the base. Just like many other soldiers, this one has endured some battle scars from his years of service. But, he is still ever-loyal, and continues to do what he was meant to do. I really can't say how old he is- there's definitely age to him. Particularly if you look at the underside of his base. I can't detect any markings that would indicate a manufacturer or country of origin, so your guess is as good as mine. What I can say is that he's probably the most interesting candlestick I've come across in a good long while. And would surely be a delightful addition to any home. All held together with a long Very rusty screw that attaches the octagonal base. to the top of the candlestick. There are"5"s stamped into each segment in an area that is unseen without disassembly. I believe to signify the 5 segments of each stick. No makers marks- as there wouldn't be considering the period they were made in. but there are 2 other marks. 1 each found on the underside of the bobeche, an"I" on one and an"A" or a"v" on the other(it is very small even under high magnification it was hard to distinguish Gilting is shiny and candlesticks are beautiful! One has a slight dent towards the top which I have also made known in the pictures. These are not perfect but they are very old and collectible.
