I don't know what kind stone. The pewter color figural boy look like pot metal. The boy standing in front of a tree trunk. He has a lot of details on his clothing. this is an exquisite pair of antique handmade Asian brass candle stick holders. they are very heavy and made from thick material. it is a matching pair and have a tri-footed leg which are in the shape of stylized dragons. it also has very ornate highly embossed scenes throughout the levels of the piece. and also has 2 detailed handles. it is signed on the botom by maker one measures 9 1/2 x 3 1/4 inches and has a wonderful patina from age. they can also be used for an incense burner. To be put in the middle of the base they are in great shape and very rare. one base has a small crack but not bad. WOW! What an unusual antique this brass/bronze piece is! Two little girls on a seesaw. One holding a doll. Seesaw moves back and forth by hand. The vintage clothing and doll style show how very old this piece is. All original paint! Heavy Patina& paint loss. Selling it as I found it. There are 2 brass screws that hold each child onto their seats. One of the crews is missing from the girl with the doll. And she leans back because of this. see photo#5(an easy fix) The silvertoned base is dented on one side at bottom. It also appears to be brass under the coating. But I am not sure. This is a BEAUTIFUL Antique Brass Candle Holder that has been passed down in my family. It is very old. Used. Dirty. It has not been cleaned. What is striking about this piece is the Unique Wooden Circle Holder. It's small enough to pinch with your thumb and forefinger to carry the candlestick holder around. Both the saucier and the next level up. Below the candlestick hole, have grooves all around. This seems way too small for today's candlestick. The diameter would need to have been less than 1/2 inch. This is a truly unique piece and if anyone knows the era this came from. I would indeed like to know. Condition: Handed down in my family. Very old. Vintage/Antique Cast BRASS MOUSE HOLDING UP LEAF, Votive Candle Holder? Exc Cond
At first. I assumed this mouse was cast iron but after inspecting the bottom of the tail, I saw tiny places where the patina has come off(4th photo) and brass shows through. This mouse is holding up a leaf that is flat and level enough to hold a votive candle. I don't know if that is its intended used and there is no sign it has been used that way, but I can't think what else it might be. There are other brass mice with leaves that were intended as candle holders, so I think it is a good guess. The patina is green, white and black. It measures about 3 5/8" tall. The leaf is about 4 5/8" long and 3 1/2" wide and it is the longest and widest part of this piece. It is in excellent condition. Check out my other items! These look like they could be russian design but I'm not sure. They have a"47" stamped on the bottom and are solid(no plating) The screws are hand made so they date before 1898 but I don't know enough about them to date them exactly. There is some wax residue. I did my best to wipe them down with a damp cloth but I did not want to remove any of the patina. There is one flaw with one of the candle holders. The post that holds the candle cracked. Fresh from a local estate that was full of wonderful antiques. This is a delightful push-up brass candlestick/ candle holder. I am not postive of the age, but I believe it may date back to the 1800s. I am selling it in the condition that I purchased it, with the original patina, an existing candle(not old) and the wax that had dripped onto it at some point. The uniqueness of this antique candle holder is the fluted push-up handle and the 3 graduated level notches. It measures approx. 7.25" tall and the base is approx. 5.25" across. Offered is a fantastic example of a late 17th century brass candlestick. It measures 5 1/8" tall and 4 7/16" across the base. There are similar examples in The Brass Book on pg 189. There is a small area where it appears the brass blew out during the casting process. Otherwise it is in good antique condition but please judge for yourselves from the pictures provided. There is some mark scratched in the bottom that was there when I found the piece in Salt Lake City. UT years ago. This divine pair of solid gilded brass candle holders is beautifully timeworn and the gilt finish is tarnished by place. End of years 1800. Each fluted stem is urn-shaped and decorated with dripping laurel garlands and gorgeous ram's heads(Pix 4& 5) The bobeches carry acanthus leaves decor and carved edging. There are some remains of previous candle wax in shades of red or gilt. One carries The raised initial G under its base.
