Pr Partial Nude Lady French Bronze Figures 19th Century 14" Tall & 11 Lbs Each
Here we have a pair of fabulous 19th Century French bronze figures. Both figures are of a partial nude motif. They are large and very heavy. Each figure stands aprox 14 inches tall. One figure has a weight of over 11 pounds and the other just under 11 pounds. There is a copy of an appraisal that comes with these figures. The appraisal was from 1972 and can be viewed in last picture. Back then they were appraised for $350. 42 years ago. For being about 140 years old they are in good antique condition. They were gilded at some point but most of that is worn. The finish shows a lot of wear, but I feel that just adds to these gorgeous ladies. True antique bronzes you dont see every day. Thank you.

PAIR ANTIQUE 19TH CENTURY FRENCH BRONZE ORMOLU FLOWER CANDLESTICKS CANDELABRA
We are pleased to offer this wonderful. Old, antique pair of candlesticks. This petite pair dates to the 19th century. They are a beautiful representation of French ormolu. They are Rococo in style and feature very detailed and ornate design. The pair are gilt bronze which has a nice thickness. They have beautiful bases with"plant stem" center columns. The stems lead to a large opened bloom that rests under the three, ascending height candle holders. The candle holders have very detailed leaves and vines that seem to wrap around them. There are two large flowers on the top sections; one faces front, the other faces the back. The candle wax drip cups are also in the form of multi petaled flowers. The pair is very ornate and extremely detailed. They are quite old and they take a smaller circumference taper candle as traditional tapers ... moreare too large to fit into the cups. The pair have screw thread that holds the cups in place and that runs down the center column. The pair are in very good condition for their age. Griffins are legendary creatures with the body, tail and back legs of a lion, the head and wings of an eagle and eagle talons as front feet. Offered- A mid 19th century Bronze/ Brass Ottoman Cartridge/ Ammunition Case. The case measures 3 3/4 inches across the top- it is 4 1/2 inches from top to bottom- and is 3/4 inches wide. The case is beautifully incised with a central figure- and bordered on all 4 corners with very stylized Birds(Dragons? and Lions. There is very intricate incising around the border and across the top of the case. The Lid opens and closes on a very sturdy hinge. The back of the case is plain- with a riveted belt of sash loop. This is a beautifully preserved piece- i have not polished it is quite clean with traces of old polish. I would date this piece around 1850/1875. One foot forward and hip to the side. His hands are comfortably rested on the handle of his hay fork as he peers off into the distance. He is dressed for work- barefooted, shirtless, wearing a rimmed hat, with his pants rolled up and a canteen hanging from his sash. This is a high quality statue with detail down to his toenails and a flower on the ground near his foot. The statue has developed a nice patina over the years. There is a stamp on the side. The nuts underneath the statue are very old. The statue is marked CH. LEVY. The stamp on the side reads"bronze garanti au titre" and"L.V. ... moredeposee" Next to the number 5 5876. Alfred Dubucand- 19th Century French Sculpter- Bronze Hunting Dog with puppies. This is a family heirloom with a legend. Supposebly it was a gift from President Theodore Roosevelt to a distant relative. Postmaster Ingles of Westcheter, NY. He was a hunter and an important part of the Republican party. He would have received it somewhere between 1901- 1909. I tried to research the authenticity of the legend, but I found no evidence to support it. There used to be green felt on the bottom. But over the years, it has disintegrated. My father was convinced that the piece contained a secret and broke through the plaster, only to find sawdust. I plugged up the hole with artists clay. Antique Auguste Cain BRONZE Sculpture Chicken Poulet Hen 19th Century
This adorable bronze chicken is by Auguste Cain and was produced sometime probably between the 1840's and 1860's. Cain. The son-in-law and executor of JP Mene's estate, was a prominent sculptor of bronze figurines and large sculptures in his own right, winning many awards from the time he was a young man. He produced very few of these smaller bronzes after 1868. During the time he was sculpting these smaller bronzes. His focus often was on barnyard animals, many times placing them in humorous situations. This genre appealed to the Victorian sense of the time. This precious hen weighs almost a half pound and she is only 3" tall to the top of her tail feathers. She is about 2.5" long. The detail is amazing! You can not only see each feather and ridge on her feet. But you can see expression in her face. She is intent on ... morefinding out what is at her feet which appears to be a millet spray. Each of these measures 21” in height and is flat backed for placement against a mantle or sideboard. The approximate width of each is 16" Each candelabra is a hand made cornucopia of stems. Buds and leaves and carries five candle stick holders. Scattered among them are nine, 3 ½” diameter, six petal, white glass flowers. The glass here is almost translucent; showing a flash of color when light hits it, especially from behind. The bronze tips of candle holders and buds actually screw on and off so they can ... morebe removed for cleaning. The white flowers are not removable. The back base of the stem grouping on each candelabra. Has a number engraved and although worn, seems to read 229. The candelabras both have bits of old wax scattered here and there. One white flower is broken(photo with arrow pointing to damage) The broken flower is the only real damage as the wax can certainly be cleaned off. Offered for sale is a small late 19th to early 20th century bronze statue of the Greek and Roman muse Polyhymnia. She is said to be the"inspiration" for heroic or divine hymns or poetry. This statue of Polyhymnia. Leaning on a marble painted wood pillar, appears to be a copy of the famous statue of her in the Louvre. This little bronze I approximately 7 3/4 inches tall and is in nice condition. It does however seem to have a small patch on her back that is probably contemporary to its original casting and a small hole in the base behind her.
