Beautiful Solid Brass Mortar and Pestle from the Late 19th to Early 20th Century. Concentric circles engraved inside and outside of both peices. Beautiful and functional. Was a working mortar and pestle in it's day. Has a number"6" or"9" stamped into the pestal. Very well made and heavy- almost 5lbs of solid brass! Pestle is 8.5" long and the ends are 1.5" in diameter. Mortar is about 4 1/4" in height and about 5 1/5" across the mouth. 4" across the base. It measures about 5" wi de and is 3 1/4" tall and about 1 3/4" deep. It has a great-looking crown design and the brass is nice and thick. Judging from the look of the back. I t appears t his was made using a sand-cast method. So i t likely dates to the early 1800s. It is unsigned and is in excellent condition. Please review the photos for specifics. Offered- A mid 19th century Bronze/ Brass Ottoman Cartridge/ Ammunition Case. The case measures 3 3/4 inches across the top- it is 4 1/2 inches from top to bottom- and is 3/4 inches wide. The case is beautifully incised with a central figure- and bordered on all 4 corners with very stylized Birds(Dragons? and Lions. There is very intricate incising around the border and across the top of the case. The Lid opens and closes on a very sturdy hinge. The back of the case is plain- with a riveted belt of sash loop. This is a beautifully preserved piece- i have not polished it is quite clean with traces of old polish. I would date this piece around 1850/1875. And about 1 3/4" deep. It has a great-looking design and the brass is nice and thick. Judging from the look of the back. I t appears t his was made using a sand-cast method. BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE BRASS STANDING HEARTH TRIVET ~ 18th/19th CENTURY ~ SCARCE
You are looking at an antique brass trivet from the late 18th or early 19th century. We've never been able to date it closer with any certainty as we’ve never seen another exactly like it in over 35 years of collecting such items. We have owned this particular trivet for about 20 years and it comes from our personal collection. It has no maker’s mark which is to be expected as most handmade functional brass articles do not. We believe that the trivet is American or English in origin. It stands approximately 9” in height. It measures 6 ½” across(measured at the feet) and 9 ¾” in depth(also measured at the feet) The top is essentially a 7” x 6” rectangle. The trivet weighs approx. 2 ½ lbs. This trivet is different in a couple of ways. First. All four legs are brass and frequently standing trivets of this type have back legs ... moreof iron. Second, the front legs may be unique. We have never seen trivet legs of this shape before whether in brass, iron or copper. This automatically makes this trivet a scarce, if not rare design. As if the shape of the front legs weren't interesting enough, if you look close you will see that they terminate in“penny feet” We have seen penny feet on certain types of American andirons but we've never seen them before on this type of trivet. The top of the trivet is also quite wonderful. It has a scalloped over lapping edge with design cut corners. The center of the trivet is highlighted by a reticulated six point star suspended in a circle with each branch of the star pierced with a single hole. These six holes themselves form a circle surrounding a single hole in the dead center of the star. The four corners of the top are also decorated with a pierced or reticulated“X” in each corner. The trivet is in good overall original condition especially considering its age and that it is a functional item that was likely in daily use. It is. Vintage brass candelabra pair, circa 19th century w/ figural hounds
Beautiful pair of heavy brass or bronze vintage candelabras. They are each approximately 23" high. 9.25" wide, and 8.25" deep. The base measures 7" x 7" Their combined weight is approximately 27 pounds. I believe these are 19th century but I have no way of authenticating the age. They have interesting figural hounds near the top and are very well made. I have not been able to locate any makers marks on them. Brass Enamel (Cloissone) Marble Holy Water Font European 19th Century
We are offering a very fine holy water font which my mother purchased in an antiques shop in Paris or somewhere in Switzerland on a trip to Europe in the early 1970's and kept among the collection of holy water fonts in her bedroom until she passed away ten years ago at the age of 91. The cross and font are brass with enamel decoration in the cloissone manner as there are small pieces of brass between the different enamel colors. The designs consisting of florals and leaves, and the center of the cross with the entwined IHS. Lid is hinged on the holy water receptacle and still has the small old sponge in it that mother used. Antique 19th Century Brass Lion Paw Door Stop Porter Leaves, Rope Twist & Patina
Here we have a really wonderful 19th century brass lion paw door stop or porter with a super rich time aged to dark brown patina. This heavy door stop is from the Regency period and we believe it dates to the 1825-1840 period. It is made of brass with the base having cast iron loading in the rear and weighs in at 5 pounds 3 ounces. The base is in the form of a lions paw. The shank has rising leaves and the oval handle is twisted rope with leaves. This door porter has wonderful detailing with the amazing definition of the claws. Knuckles and hair on the paw. It has a super rich time aged patina which appears the color of aged bronze with dark browns. Copper and light turquoise tones. This door stop is in untouched as-found condition and we have not polished. Cleaned or even dusted it. There is a slight curve to shank which my be original design ... moreand a small mark or scratch to patina above claws. It has a few small paint rubs or marks on front and light scratching on back and bottom. This piece measures 14 3/8" tall. 4" wide and will protrude 3 1/4" from the door when in place. This is a really wonderful Regency period piece and it will make an outstanding statement at any door or in any collection. Antique Hand Hammered Brass Imperial Russian Vase, 13 1/2" tall, 19th century
T his tall hand-hammered vase is typical of Russian 19th century craftsmanship with copper trim on the brim. Copper rivets and a toothed seam on the body. the heavy gauge of the metal is also typical. However the piece is unmarked. It measures 13 1/2" in height. The vase is in very good condition and all of the rivets are tight.

Description: Beautiful heavy antique Victorian handwrought brass and wrought iron cooking/berry pot(often used to make jams and jellies) The pix are taken with a flash and without; the color is about in the middle of the two(there's some patina but it's been cleaned in its century or two lifetime) The bottom has faint concentric rings to it may have been spun. At least in part, perhaps cast and spun. But the walls are quite thick. The handle is fixed(doesn't move) and riveted in place and is especially elegant in the way it graduates to slightly wider at the top. In great condition; no dings. Dents or splits. A bit dulled in the interior; I've not polished or cleaned it, except for a light wipe with a damp cloth. It will shine up beautifully if polished. Antique late 19th century hand made brass folding letter holder
This is a late 19th century folding letter carrier. It is brass with hand hammered designs. It has"Austria" marked on back edge. I come from England and it has been in my family for ever. We have not cleaned it so it has its own original patina and looks very good. The bottom tray opens to reveal three sections for stamps. I have shown the underside and it is marked D.R.G.M. 237670 which is the German patent number and GES.GESCH(gesetzlich geschutzt) which mean protected by law. This is a late 19th century pewter tankard crafted by W R Loftus of London. This tankard features a brass rim with the"W R Loftus" makers hallmark. A capacity mark reading"pint" and the"F R" verification mark. Script writing encircles the underside, but I am unable to decipher what it says. This piece has nice patina and is in as-found condition. There is no evidence of repairs, not does it appear to have been bent. The use of the Flask as a principal accessory to the firearm. From It's inception and through the ages. J Dixon& Sons(James Dixon& Sons) founded 1806 in Sheffield. Was one of the major British manufacturers in the Industrial Revolution of the 19th century. They were the best-known manufacturer of Britannia metal, and also the world leader in manufacturing shooting accessories thru the late Victorian era. This listing is for a 19 century leather and brass shot flask. A very good shot flask by Dixson and Sons. The charger is graduated 1 oz. and 1 1/4 oz. Measures 8" overall. New Orleans antique late 19th or early 20th century decorative brass hook?
Up for bid is an unusual item made of what I think is brass. I took it off a bathroom door from a house in New Orleans that was built circa 1890. I'm not sure if this was actually a hook when it first started out because it doesn't slant up. But slightly down. I believe the part of the house I was working on was an addition put on later, possibly as late as the Depression and they salvaged this item because it resembled a hook. pitcher copper antique matching pair graduating 1800s 19th century brass wood
For auction is a pair of matching copper pitchers. One being slightly larger than the other. The pitchers appear to be handmade of copper and tin lined. I think they have rolled seams, but I’m not sure about that. The handles are riveted onto the sides of the pitchers. The wood on the handles and single lid is very dry and needs to be oiled. The handle of the shorter pitcher is slightly loose. They both hold water. I think they both have what’s called a large flanged lip. The pitchers are slightly flared and tapered from bottom to top. In nice condition generally, they have minor dings, dents and scratches from normal use. The tall pitcher shows some discoloration near the top edge and near the neck especially. I think that the handles are of brass and wood, but I don’t know the type of wood. I don’t know if these could be considered flagons ... moreor not. I’ve seen listings for similar looking pitchers claim that the items are from the 1800’s, but I’m very unsure if that is true in this case. The pitchers have a sort of a warm patina. It seems they would have more of a patina, or at least a darker patina being that old, but perhaps they were polished sometime in the past 100 years or so. I don’t see any markings on these. The taller pitcher measures about 4 ¾ inches at the tallest point and is just under 3 1/4 inches diameter at the bottom. The shorter pitcher stands about 4 inches tall at the tallest point and is also about 3 ¼ inches diameter at the bottom. The lid can fit either pitcher. Together, both pitchers and lid weigh 7.2 ounces alone with no packaging. As I understand it, copper pitchers of this form were often found in American kitchens in the 19 th century and were available in sets of graduating sizes. They were usually tin-lined. As these pieces are, so that they could be used for consumable liquids. They are very decorative and are often assembled by collectors to complete a set in different sizes. 19th CENTURY BRASS RING HANDLE CHAMBERSTICK SIDE SEAM PUSH-UP CANDLESTICK HOLDER
This is a wonderful Antique Brass Push-Up Chamberstick type Candlestick Holder. Circa late 18th or early 19th century. The round drip pan base measures approximately 5" in diameter(not including ring handle) x approximately 4-1/4" tall. It is in excellent condition with NO breaks. NO splits, NO holes, NO repairs, NO replacements and NO restoration. The ring handle remains solidly intact to the round drip pan. The stick shaft portion is side seamed construction with the cup portion perfectly attached. There are only minor. Subtle signs of age appropriate wear by means of slight bends to the rim of the candle cup. The push-up knob is original and works perfectly. The underside shows the original joinery of the stick portion to the round pan. This is a great example of late 18th/ early 19th century brass lighting. It comes from a great ... moreold collection.
