This early American pewter muffineer is 5 inches tall. We are attributing it to Thomas Byles. Who was active in Philadelphia from 1738 to 1771. The piece is hallmarked on the bottom. The mark is slightly different than the mark used on larger pieces but due to the confined space, the mark may have been modified. Please judge for yourself. Mid 18th Century Brass Candlestick
This is a very elaborate Queen Anne candlestick. It dates somewhere between 1730 and1760 and has a wonderful patina. The threads are of the course variety found on the earlier period sticks. It is 6 3/4" tall with a 4" octagonal base. It has an unusually large 2 3/4" bobeche. It is in excellent condition. And has a wonderful uncleaned patina. It has three little holes in the bobeche, apparently where someone used to hang it or carry it. See my other listings for additional candlesticks.

Pair 18th century bell metal candlesticks
This is a very unusual and possibly unique pair of bell metal candlesticks. The shafts are seamed and the threads are the typical coarse threads of the 18th century. They measure 7" high and a square 2 3/4" base. They have a beautiful patina and on one candlestick the shaft has been soldered to the base as is often found. The design of the socket appears to be borrowed from the 17th century as seen on some of the bell based candlesticks and reappeared in English candlesticks of the 1780 period. These sticks are from my collection. Some of which I have had for over 50 years. Please see some of the others that I have listed.

Spoons such as this are often referred to as'tasting spoons' as they were meant for just that. The bowl of the piece would have been inserted in to a kettle. Iron pot or other hearth cooking device to sample the ingredients cooking therein. The hearth attendant would then vary the recipe they were creating by adding various dried herbs, mortar ground salt or pepper pods, etc. As you can see this example has a deeper ladle, which suggests it was also for serving. FINE ANTIQUE CONTINENTAL PEWTER HANDLED PUNCHBOWL 18TH CENTURY GERMAN ? DUTCH ?
Rare Antique Continental Pewter Punchbowl I am not really a pewter dealer. But I believe this old punch bowl is a very unusual form. I think it is beautiful, well designed and finely finished. I believe it is an early 18th century style, and could very well be of the period. Collectors and pewter dealers here on eBay will be able to determine the age from my photos, I am sure. The family had used this bowl as a centerpiece, there was a flower frog attached with clay in the bottom when I got it. The water has oxidized and scaled the interior somewhat, but the condition is otherwise excellent. This large bowl easily holds a gallon of punch. The hallmarks are the angel Michael with sword over a demon with the initials P I S the crowned rose mark appears to also have the I S on the clear right side of the touch. I assume a"P" would ... morebe on the missing left side. These may be maker or regional marks.I am not familiar with pewter marks. Something has been scratched out as my photos show.presumably a previous owner's name or inventory. Antique 18th Century John Jupe Large Pewter Charge English Signed
Early 18th Century Pewter Charger Old estate find from the home of a collector. This is a nice 18th Century Pewter Piece. It was made by John Jupe(1737-1760) in London. It is marked on the back with a touchmark of a rose with a Fleur-de-lis and IOHN above, IUPE below with curved reserves and a palm frond to either side on the underside of the rim. The secondary mark is a rose with crown, above that it says MADE IN and below it should say LONDON, but the London is hard to make out. There is a quality mark of an X with a crown above that is stamped on the underside of the rim between the two marks. The charger has a hook on the back for hanging. It is in good antique condition with a dark ring mark near the bottom and some tarnish on the left rim and a little rough spot. I have not tried to clean it. A RARE 18TH CENTURY BRASS CANDLESTICK DEPICTING THE BALD EAGLE
This is a rare 18th century brass candlestick depicting the bald eagle. Very few of this design are known to have survived. It measures 16 cm high x 7 cm diameter at the base. I have deliberately left in the condition that it was found as I personally prefer it that way. As do many collectors.

18th Century Islamic Bronze Chessman Chess Piece Seal !
18th Century or Earlier Islamic Bronze Chessman Chess Piece Seal! The entire piece is slightly bent which could have been a casting fault since there are no strong visible impact marks. Later perhaps in the 19th century the chess piece was converted into a western seal. The bottom wider flat surface is plain and approximately 1 5.8/16 inches(3.45 cm) in diameter. The seal is on the top narrow flat surface which makes it clear that it was not intended as a seal but as a cool chess piece easy to grab and move with two fingers. The top seal surface is approximately 12.5/16 of an inch(2 cm) in diameter. Approximately 2 11/16 inches(6.7 cm) in height. Girl and boy girandoles three piece. Purchased from an auction in SC that specializes in antiques. We were told they are from 18th century. Used by the wealthy at that time period. They are beautiful if I collected antiques I would keep. I'm too worried about accidentally breaking the crystal prisms. Two of those are missing they still look really nice. 18th Century Single Arm Wall Sconce
An impressive antique Dutch Wall Sconce. This 17th or 18th Century arm is of exceptional beauty and size. It extents about 20 inches fom the wall and the drip tray is about 6.5 inches in diameter. The octagonal backplate is about 6.5 inches from side to side. It appears to be made of cast brass and originally may have been intended as a chandelier arm. Minor color variations in the arm would suggest old restorations. The beautiful hand crafted threading on the candle holder is indicative of its age and it fits tightly onto the branch. The manner in which the candle holder was crafted with the four air escape slits during the molding of this piece might place its age in the 17th century. A Dutch 18th century water kettle
18th century kettle. Original it was used as a water kettle on the table and not as a water cooking kettle. They they made an extract of tea and and poured water on it in the china bone cup. So this is why the kettle is so decorative.

18th Century Dutch Brass Tobacco Snuff Box with Engraved View of "City of Delft"
Sankaat is pleased to present for your consideration this early 18th century Dutch Brass Tobacco or Snuff box engraved with a view of the city of"Delft. Delft was one of the Netherlands major trading capitals. Besides being home to the famous Delft pottery factories, it was also one of the centers for trade with goodS from the indies(including tobacco) This rectangle brass tobacco box measures 5.25 inches wide by 3.25 inches and 1 inch deep. It is lined with tin(traditional) The front is hand engraved with the city view of Delft with may of the famous Cathedrals shown. The backside has an unusual geometric(pyramid and book) symbol, possible a tobacco company trade logo. The box is in good condition with some wear to the joints on the lid(see photo) and the unevenness to the lid. BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE BRASS STANDING HEARTH TRIVET ~ 18th/19th CENTURY ~ SCARCE
You are looking at an antique brass trivet from the late 18th or early 19th century. We've never been able to date it closer with any certainty as we’ve never seen another exactly like it in over 35 years of collecting such items. We have owned this particular trivet for about 20 years and it comes from our personal collection. It has no maker’s mark which is to be expected as most handmade functional brass articles do not. We believe that the trivet is American or English in origin. It stands approximately 9” in height. It measures 6 ½” across(measured at the feet) and 9 ¾” in depth(also measured at the feet) The top is essentially a 7” x 6” rectangle. The trivet weighs approx. 2 ½ lbs. This trivet is different in a couple of ways. First. All four legs are brass and frequently standing trivets of this type have back legs ... moreof iron. Second, the front legs may be unique. We have never seen trivet legs of this shape before whether in brass, iron or copper. This automatically makes this trivet a scarce, if not rare design. As if the shape of the front legs weren't interesting enough, if you look close you will see that they terminate in“penny feet” We have seen penny feet on certain types of American andirons but we've never seen them before on this type of trivet. The top of the trivet is also quite wonderful. It has a scalloped over lapping edge with design cut corners. The center of the trivet is highlighted by a reticulated six point star suspended in a circle with each branch of the star pierced with a single hole. These six holes themselves form a circle surrounding a single hole in the dead center of the star. The four corners of the top are also decorated with a pierced or reticulated“X” in each corner. The trivet is in good overall original condition especially considering its age and that it is a functional item that was likely in daily use. It is. Brass and Wrought Iron Knife Blade Andirons, 18th century Pennsylvania
From a Buck County Pennsylvania collection come a fine pair of 18 th century Knife Blade. Brass and Wrought Iron Andirons. Probably made in the Philadelphia area and date from the fourth quarter of the 18 th century. they measure 20" high. 16.25" deep, and 8" wide measuring across the feet. The brass finials are urn formed and are peened through the top to the wrought iron shaft. The bottom of the blade has a brass shield that sits above curved wrought iron legs ending in penny feet. They are in Excellent condition. No rust or weak spots could use polishing, still very usable after more than 200 hundred years of use. Antique 18th Century Iron Betty Lamp Lantern Hook Spike Fine Early Piece AAFA Description: 18th Century Lighting Support Hook with Great Designs All hand wrought. Blacksmith made, this period lighting holder dates from the mid to late 18th century, circa 1750-1790. Spikes such as this would have been hammered into the wall and beams of early homes for the purpose of supporting a grease(betty) lamp. Lantern or other lighting device via the bottom support hook. As you can see the blacksmith who originally made the piece worked in some great decorative elements. The face of the piece having whimsical curl design two of which on the top form to make a heart shape decoration, as well as multiple off shooting curls. Measures approximately 7 1/4" in length. All blacksmith made. These hand wrought iron scissors date circa 1740-1770, with almost identical examples depicted in George Nuemann's book"Early American Antique Country Furnishings" Page 309, fig 1354) Scissors such as these carried out numerous functions in an early home. From cutting wool off sheep to tailoring clothing, leatherworking, etc. This example is open and moves freely. With an edge I'm sure they'd probably function as well as they did 200 years ago. This example is great in that it is signed with with double hallmarks on the blade(see images) The set measures approximately 10" in length. From age there is some slight pitting ... moreto the surface. Some light expected oxidation, slight bend to one of the tips(hardly noticable) overall a fine set, certainly one that would make a great addition to any colonial era collection as they have a fine patina and construction!
