Vintage 1880 Antique Wooden Contact Photography Print Frame- Anthony& Scovill Camera 14X17 Made by the New York based Anthony& Scovill Mfg. Co. later called Ansco) This antique piece of photographic equipment is known as a contact print frame. The patent date is Aug. 12. 1880. It was used for the production of photographic prints(and glass or film positives) It is in very good condition. And still contains its original glass. Green print matt and brass brackets& clips. Measurements& Weight: Full frame size: 19 ¾ inches x 16 ¾ inches. Glass opening: 16 ½ inches x 13 ½ inches. Weighs approximately 10 pounds. In the 19th century. The most common method of making photographic prints was by contact between a negative and sensitized paper by using a contact frame. Inside the frame, the negative was placed directly ... moreagainst photographic contact paper. The wooden back was then closed and the brass brackets turned to lock the back tightly into place. After the negative and the paper were firmly pressed together, the printing frame was placed, glass side up, in the sun to develop. Antique Blue Steamer Trunk - Wooden Frame with Metal Corners & Braces
This is a nice bright blue steamer trunk. With metal corners, hardware and strapping. I believe the walls, bottom and lid are made of thin plywood with an exterior lining of sheet metal.Measuring about 29½" x 14½" and about 10¼" tall, it has a single leather or faux leather carrying handle on the front, right beside the lock. The inside is lined with paper printed with a wood grain design. I don't know the age of it, but it looks mid twentieth century, doesn't it? I also don't see any sign of manufacturer identification, and no labels to tell where it traveled. It has some surface scuffs and scratches. Especially on the top and bottom, in fact there are some distinct pressure dents around the edge of the lid, as shown in the third picture below. Designing of inlaid articles is a highly elaborate process. In each cubic centimeter of inlaid work. Up to approximately 250 pieces of metal, wood and etc. are laid side by side. Antique 1836 Wooden Single Bed Frame - Gorgeous - Abraham Lincoln's ?
Beautiful Antique 1836 Single Bed Frame w/ Headboard and Footboard. Please read the background about this very special antique bed. I was contacted by a gentleman some months wanting for me to help him sell off some of his family's possessions. One of these was the bed you see pictured here which can accurately be dated to 1836. As indicated on the bill of lading. The same bill also tells us that it was shipped from Meredosia, Illinois, not far from Springfield, IL. Now that information itself wouldn't have any significant meaning if not coupled with the fact that my seller shared with me that this bed was purchased by one of his family members on the steps of the Springfield city hall at an auction. Add the fact that this bed has been altered to accommodate a taller person(the average height for a person back then was only 5'8" ... moreand now you're looking at an interesting scenario. What does this imply? You may ask. Abraham Lincoln was living in New Salem(Northeast of Meredosia and North of Springfield) at the time this bed was delivered in 1836. The destination of the bed's delivery is unknown. The bill of lading makes reference to the fact that the bed was shipped from Meredisia. IL- that's 80 miles to the west of Springfield, IL and 16 miles northeast of New Salem, IL where Lincoln lived 1833-1836. This bed was purchased in the past through the municipality of Springfield. IL. How did the city of Springfield come to own it? Abraham Lincoln was 6'4" tall and would have needed a custom built bed to sleep on- such as the one listed here. At the end of the day. This just adds up to be a bunch of circumstantial facts that MAY indicate that this bed was delivered in the same area and at the same time that Abraham Lincoln was also there. It is evident that this is also a custom length bed capable of sleeping a man of 6'4" height. I am 6'4" myself.
