Haiti with Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and The Lesser Antilles. The map comes from a disbound copy of a first edition copy of The Times Atlas. Dating from 1895, with maps produced by the German firm of Velhagen and Klasing. The map. Which is a very detailed single page map and printed in colour on very heavy quality paper, measures 16.25" x 10.75" approximately 41 x 28cm. including a good border all round. The condition is very good with no tears or creases. There is some very slight age discolouration to the edges. But if the map is matted and framed, this would not be visible. Due to its size. These maps were all'tipped in' to the atlas. Which means they can easily be removed as a single sheet with a fold in the centre. Condition Very good. The colors are bright and fresh. The maps themselves. And the margins, are very clean. There are no tears, stains, discolorations or soiling whatsoever. Remarks The publication of the Times Survey Atlas in 1922 was the culmination of six years of painstaking work and. With the combination of political and the physical colour range from dark green to dark brown to indicate elevation, it marked the beginning of the age of'modern cartography. It surpassed any atlas before it in terms of scope(112 double-page folio map) and accuracy. Many of the maps published in this atlas were used in other atlases in many countries as recently as the 1970s. These maps will look great framed and hung individually or, on a large wall, in groups. Condition The overall condition of the maps is very good/ excellent. The colors are bright and vibrant and the quality of the printing is excellent. There is the occasional spot in the margins ... moreof a few of the maps. And on a few maps, there is a small closed tear in the in margin, at the fold, that has been professionally repaired from behind. ALL THESE MAPS ARE PRINTED ON ONE SIDE ONLY. Remarks These maps are from the Second Edition of. Many of the maps are based on maps that first appeared in Richard Andree's Algemeiner Hand-Atlas(Leipzig. 1880s) which is considered one of the most visually pleasing atlases from the late 19th century. The maps are finely detailed and the printing is sharp and crisp with no off-setting. The paper is heavy and still quite bright, with only minor even age-toning to the extremes of the margins. These high quality editions printed maps as a whole, folded them, then affixed them singly to the spine, so when they come away they do so in one piece, as individual plates. Meaning that they could be removed as a single intact sheet. The double maps have a single fold in the center. The single-page maps have no folds at all. Condition The overall condition of the map is very good. The colors are bright and vibrant and the quality of the printing is excellent. Many of the maps are based on maps that first appeared in Richard Andree's Algemeiner Hand-Atlas(Leipzig. 1880s) which is considered one of the most visually pleasing atlases from the late 19th century. The maps are finely detailed and the printing is sharp and crisp with no off-setting. The paper is heavy and still quite bright, with only minor even age-toning to the extremes of the margins.

1900 Times Atlas, NORTH EAST AFRICA, Antique Map
A very attractive. High quality double-page map published in the 1900 Times Atlas. It measures 37cm x 49cm approx. Excluding plentiful margins. Heavy paper, horizontal centrefold as issued. Condition is very good. The printed area is bright. Clean and very fresh. Attractive printed colour. In the margins some toning, small marks and very soft creasing. Verso is blank except for the title; remnants of binding along the centrefold on the verso. The map will be posted rolled in a posting tube. Second class postage in the UK is £2.60 plus £1.10 for the tube giving a P&P total of £3.70. I am delighted to combine postage for multiple buys. By the way the size limit for postal tubes in the UK to be classified as'small parcels' is 45cm; as the Times maps are around 44cm wide the only way I can get them inside this limit ... moreis by using round bits of hardboard as end stoppers on the posting tube rather than the normal plastic ones. Rare Large 1922 Times Atlas Folio Map of Eastern USA
A fine antique map from The Times Survey Atlas of the World UNITED STATES Eastern Section Provenance The Times Survey Atlas and Gazetteer of the World by J.G. Bartholomew Published London: The Times Printing House. 1922. All the maps we are selling come from the same original 1922 atlas. Cartographer J.G. Bartholomew. Cartographer to the King. Size/ Format 22.5" x 17.5" 57.6 cm x 44.8 cm) One fold in the centre. The margins are clean and range form 0.5" to 0.8" 1-2 cm) on all sides. These maps were all'tipped in' to the atlas. Which means they can easily be removed as a single sheet with a fold in the centre. Condition Very good. The colors are bright and fresh. The maps themselves. And the margins, are very clean. There are no tears, stains, discolorations or soiling whatsoever. The atlas from which these maps ... morewere removed did NOT spend its life at a public library. It was part of a private collection and was treated very well. Note that slight differences in the colours of the margins are the result of my scanner being just wide enough to capture the width of the map. But not all of the margins. So, the parts of the margins have been added on after scanning. All the maps have full, uniformly coloured margins, as issued. Remarks The publication of the Times Survey Atlas in 1922 was the culmination of six years of painstaking work and. With the combination of political and the physical colour range from dark green to dark brown to indicate elevation, it marked the beginning of the age of'modern cartography. It surpassed any atlas before it in terms of scope(112 double-page folio map) and accuracy. Many of the maps published in this atlas were used in other atlases in many countries as recently as the 1970s. These maps will look great framed and hung individually or, on a large wall, in groups.
