SCOTTISH HOLYROOD CASTLE PALACE 11x17 PHOTOCHROM PRINT EDINBURGH SCOTLAND 1615
The2FunAdGuyz offer a new. High quality reproduction print of a magnificent 1890 photochrom(see detailed description below) of the Holyroodhouse(informally called Holyrood) Palace, Edinburgh Scotland. Holyroodhouse Palace has been the official residence of Scottish monarchs since the 16 th century. Today. It is the official Scottish residence of Queen Elizabeth II on state occasions and she visits one week at the beginning of summer. In this magnificent view. You see the massive grandeur of the building, the surrounding Holyrood Park. Surrounded in haze behind it is Arthur’s Stone. An old volcanic rock formation that frequently served as a strategic site for defenders of medieval Edinburgh. The castle’s site has contained a series of abbeys. Homes and castles dating back to 1128, many of which were demolished to make way for other structures ... moreor destroyed during various periods of political upheaval. After one such upheaval during the late 17 th Century. Architect Sir William Bruce designed and Robert Mylne oversaw the reconstruction of the castle. Caption: Holyroodhouse(Holyrood) Palace. Edinburgh. Scotland. 1890 This a magnificent image. Captured in freeze-frame some 120 years ago. The hand coloring technique of this image used real paint. Not water color, giving a deeper, more artistic look than later hand coloring techniques. PHOTOCHROM: The photochrom process was a combination of photography and lithography that started in the 1800s and used until the development of true color photography in the 1930s. While the results can look more like a painting than a photograph. The images are striking. The photochrom(sometimes-spelled photochrome in America) system developed in Switzerland and then licensed to various companies in other countries. Detroit Publishing Company. Detroit. Michigan was the only company to license the process in the United States. The process first took black and white photographs and hand colored the resulting print. Then. RARE Hand Written Music WAR SONG Sir Walter Scott Royal Edinburgh Light Dragoon
RARE Hand Written Music WAR SONG Sir Walter Scott Royal Edinburgh Light Dragoon I have recently purchased a large musical manuscript and printed music collection that belonged to composer John Lang. There are a couple of items that belonged to his son James and daughter Emily. Here is an item from the collection. This is very interesting. Based on the other items from this collection. This manuscript is probably from 1810-1830. War Song was written by Sir Walter Scott. There are 4 pages of hand written music with the verses and notations. This piece is not signed so I can not be 100% but it seems that most items in this collection are arrangements by John Lang. This is a great item! Prompt PayPal payment please! Edinburgh to Berwick distances Scotland 1843 original antique engraved map
Edinburgh to Berwick distances Scotland 1843 original antique engraved map EDINBURGH to PEEBLES. SELKIRK, MELROSE. KELSO& BERWICK(Scotland) Issued Edinburgh. Scotland; 1843; by J. Bartholomew. Fine original antique engraved map. Printed on quality paper which retains its inherent structural flexibility and soundness. In Good+ or better condition; light minor scattered foxing/ age-toning which does not detract visually from the image[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws] The printed area remains pleasing. A nice impression that would look great framed. Sheet measures c. 3 7/8" W x 6 1/4" H. Engraved area measures c. 3 3/8" W x 5 3/8" H. 27896] note: All old sheets of printed paper possibly have short edge splits. Each sheet has existed for a very long time and has probably ... morebeen handled repeatedly in the course of it's existence. It has a history unique to it as an object. Most of the time any edge splits are short. Minor, insignificant and have been closed- either long ago or more recently with small pieces of archival tape. Most often these splits are trivial and easy to overlook visually. Basically, they would not significantly affect the piece adversely. The item is offered as seen. Please look carefully and make your decision knowing this antique image is nice. But it is not in perfect"like new" condition. However, with whatever flaws it possesses, it remains entirely worthy of ownership and inclusion in any related collection. We feel it will prove very pleasing to its new owner. Antique (c. 1805 Edinburgh) George III Silver Berry Spoon, Fully Engraved Handle
Description: Please forgive the very poor photos. But this marvelous heavy old sterling spoon has been in my mother's family since it was made(one antique dealer said England 1807, and another told us Scotland 1805; but they both agreed that it was a genuine George III solid silver berry spoon) Unfortunately, my kids don't want it, I'm the last in my mother's family, and I don't like berries; so we are offering it to you. It is about 8.5" long, and the ribbed bowl is about 3.125" long x 1.75" wide x 0.375" deep, the handle is fully and ornately engraved on both sides. There are 4 or 5 little boxes on the underside of the handle, containing logos which I assume identify the maker and date; they are: WM" either a roman numeral 3(with the middle"I" being taller) or a castle with 3 turrets; ... morewhat looks like the letter"U" or"V" made of branches with a goblet in the center; Z" and what looks sort of like a profile of George Washington. If anyone out there in eBayland can help to identify it, please let us know. PLEASE HELP: If you happen to know the maker or the exact year of production. Please write to let us know(thanks) Please Note: As you may know. EBay now requires a shipping cost be entered when listing an item for international sale, and it is impossible to accurately do so without knowing the final destination. The price that I have entered is just a guess to cover the cost to anywhere in the world, and you will not be charged any more than that; however, if the actual shipping cost is less, then you will be issued a refund for the difference(we never add any extra for packaging or handling, so you will pay for the actual postage only) Fine Print: We invite questions.
