Up for auction is this wonderful Primitive Vintage Antique Cast Iron Shield wall hanging plaque. As pictured. The shield is quite ornate with a detailed medieval battle scene in the center, including warriors, horses, swords& shields. Also depicted are angels& the head of a god or goddess above and below is the head of a lion and two figures facing away& downward. Obtained from a Massachusetts estate sale. I do not have information regarding the age of the piece& have not been able to detect a maker’s mark. As pictured, it appears to be very old. Old Vintage Primitive Cast Metal Lady Reading Figurine Shabby Gold Clock Top? O.K. I took a hike out to one of my favorite dealers. He has one of those buildings that is packed inside and out with generations of auctions and estate sales, you know what I mean, the kind of place that makes you slam on the breaks when you see it. 99% of the time he’s NOT open, but he’ll open if you ask him and he has the time. He has a fabulous variety and an eye for the unusual and wacky, so shopping there is Maureen’s heaven. There’s so much to choose from this week– advertising, signs, primitives, medical, and antiques galore– you don’t want to miss! I still have items from the dealer who closed, and the flea market too– yikes! I’ve got to get to work! You know. I had more metal than wood come find me in my treasure hunts this week- and this beauty will ... morenot disappoint. She reminds me of a piece that once may have been part of a clock decoration- or part of some bigger decorative piece- but I can't be sure, as there's no indiation on her bottom of being broken or detached from anything- no holes, indication of solder, breaks etc. that I can find. You can see that she has a sheet steel bottom that is soldered on- it has an old piece of yellowed masking tape on it that has hand written the number 134 in red- it's as found. There's peeks around the steel where you can see that she is hollow- she's still pretty hefty, though, at a solid 2 lbs. She is cast from grey a metal that a magnet does not stick to, and you can see that she has a very shabby worn gold finish- it's light from wear, and there's many spots on her where you can see directly to the grey metal, giving her a lightly shabby flair- but not a lot, because I think if you look at her as a whole, because of the lightness/fade of the gold, it really is a beautiful patina- I wouldn't touch it. Nice Small Old Primitive Vintage Hammered Copper Vase Great Patina We took a trip to some unfamiliar shops this weekend and came home with some fabulous items– lots of antiques and uniques for you! I’ll be listing all week. So be sure to check back! The lighting in my photos is being messed with by the reflection off of the snow this week. My backyard is not included in this auction- it's already spoken for: and for illustration only! This vase is a perfect example. I finally got pretty close to the age darkened patina in photo 1 by turning my stool away from the light. Use that photo as your reference. As the others look much lighter to me on my screen than they do to my eyes. It's a wonderful small, older vintage hammered copper vase. Measuring 4" tall, it is 1 7/8" diameter across the mouth, 3" widest at the body ... moreand 1 1/4" diameter across the base. It weighs a smidge under 1/2 lb and is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. The piece is hammered and really beautiful with a nice dark patina- I'd call it old penny in color. Excellent condition- I found one absolutely itty-bitty teenie rough spot when rubbing my fingers along the top edge- it's too small for me to see, so I took a very close up shot in photo 9- see how small it is? It's not marked that I can see. It's dusty, and could use a good cleaning- I do not clean or mess with as found patina in any way. 2 Primitive Vintage Tin Wall Sconce Candle Holders Grapes& Leaves Shabby Paint O.K. So I spent a whole day this week shopping for you and came home with a truck-full. Then, I went to an antique liquidation barn sale– Brrrrr was it cold, but so worth it. Then, I stopped by an auction just in time to get most of my favorites– boy, I’ve been busy! I’m so excited to show you what I have! Lots of antiques; primitive to retro to deco to Victorian pretties, advertising, Americana folk art and just cool stuff. I’ll take me a white to list, so be sure to keep checking! Here's a wonderful vintage primitive pair for you! It's two vintage candle sconces. Made from either tin or light steel as a magnet sticks to them- they have a very shabby primitive charm with chippy original paint all over. Each sconce has two candle wells and they each ... morehave a loop at the backside for hanging on the wall. Each one measures about 15 1/2" tall by 6" wide(the about being for a little variation in the leaves- one is a little taller than 15 1/2- the one on the left in my first photo- because of the leaves. But it's original, not something that looks off or bad)and they are 3" deep from the back to the front. Each one has two candle wells with sides made to look like upturned leaves or petals. Made to hold tapered candles, each well measures 7/8" diameter on the inside walls. Each sconce weighs a smidge over 1 lb, that does not sound like alot, but they feel hefty just because they are more wire than girth. The wire is thick, though, it's not easy to make a leaf move, and for that reason, they have been able to stay intact through the years, with no missing pieces. They are in excellent solid and sturdy condition structurally, with loooooooots of rustic chippy wear to the painted finish all over. The colors are creamy white for the background, and moss green leaves with gold and rusts and brown colored accents, and dark burgundy red for the grapes.
