Vintage 1911 Very Early Heintz Sterling on Bronze Arts and Crafts Art Deco Vase
A lovely vintage arts and crafts early Heintz bronze vase. Thick silver overlay design. Not marked as to maker but has the letters' K-X cuo' and vague numbers scratched into the bottom.Also marked sterling at the base of the tree pattern. This indicates that this piece was made prior to the patent being granted. So this dates to between June 7. 1911,and the date the patent was applied for August 27, 1912. It has a very thick patina and a good overall condition with a small area at back that has slight indentation. Measures at 6 1/4" tall.

VINTAGE SILVER HEINTZ ART METAL TROPHY HERBERT HOOVER FAMILY? CHOW DOG 1922
STERLING ON BRONZE HEINZ ART METAL CO. TROPHY FINE STERLING OVERLAY ON BRONZE by the HEINTZ ART METAL CO. with their mark on the bottom. STERLING ON BRONZE, and a Patent date of Aug. 2 or another date that we cannot read. About 9 and 3/4 inches tall. Well proportioned and very well made as usual for this company. Famous for their sterling on bronze metal patented manufacturing process. MANY PHOTOGRAPHS BELOW OUR DESCRIPTION We have not cleaned this item. It was purchased a few years ago from a direct descendant of US President Herbert Hoover. Who, along with his wife and family were known to love and show dogs. We were unable to find a reference to this particular Chow Chow being owned by the Hoover's. Though the name Hoover is written on the bottom of the trophy. It was won in 1922 at a dog show in Toledo. Ohio at the Hotel Secor. The ... moredog's name was Lu Cheng. We did find the following two references: Dogdom Monthly vol.21 March 1920, Lu cheng. John Richardson's very attractive young stud. Also an advertisement in Sept. 1921 Country Life volume 40 for"Chow Chows of Quality. Champion Lu Cheng. Dark red, stud) fee $40. John Richardson. Glenville, Conn. Finally. A May 1922 reference in The Dog Fancier(published in Battle Creek. Michigan) Chow Chow Winner dogs-H. E. Hoover's Chow Lu Cheng" Herbert Hoover's middle name was Clark. However, so we cannot claim with certainty that this trophy belonged to the former US President. Despite what we were told by the person we purchased it from. This substantial Heintz Art Metal trophy weighs about 3 pounds. No dents or tears in the metal. Most likely there is a special technique for cleaning these silver on bronze pieces. Vintage Heintz Sliver & Bronze Arts & Crafts Humidor 1912
Up for auction is this Bronze& Sliver Heintz Arts and Crafts Humidor. This is a vintage item fresh from an estate sale here in Maine. It has the Heintz diamond trademark and a pattern date of 1912. It measures 8 1/2 wide 2 1/2 inches high and 3 1/2 inches deep and has a good patina but not a really dark bronze tone and I would guess it has was polished within the last 10 years or so. Up for auction are these vintage Heintz Metal Art desk accessories. The pieces are some of the many items I will be selling from a large collection of Heintz Metal Art. Silver Crest and other bronze with silver overlay items. This collection was housed in a beach house for many years and the salt air has caused a green oxidation to the patina in some areas as well as pitting to the metal in some cases. The letter holder, measuring 5“ wide by 3“ high by 1 ¾“ deep, has a spot in the front to hold a calendar. It is decorated with a silver overlay parrot on a perch. The blotter corners measure 4 ¼“ by 3“ by 3“ Only one is decorated with silver overlay in the form of two birds on a branch.
