The entire piece is colored in gold and is screwed to a rectangular base. The dog's mouth is opened by raining its tail. The nut is inserted in the mouth and the tail is then lowered to open the nut. The inside of the mouth has ribbing or raised casting to ensure the nut does not slip. The casting shows nice details of the dog's face and body. This is a very nice piece and is rather interesting and would make a great discussion piece or addition to your collection. Up for sale is a beautiful pair of antique candlestick holders. I believe t hey are white brass but an old price label on the bottom lists them as pewter. They measure just under 9.5" tall and feature a very unusual clam shell base. Twisted stems and top plate with holes where you can hang prisms if you'd like. Although I love the look of these without. The y maintain an untouched patina. But I think they would polish up a bit if you want them to. There was an old glob of wa x on the top plate and when i removed it a shinier surface was discovered beneath as shown in the last photo. They show a bit of wear. And one of them doesn't sit 100% flat on the base. But overall this is an outstanding pair of antique candlesticks that would compliment any home or collection. They are unmarked. We would assume by location these would have been associative of coal mining in the late 19th century, though they certainly would have also been used in the American west. The premise of a'sticking tommy' was to be hammered into the wall of a mine to support a candle burning for illumination. There are numerous fascinating books on the subject of period coal mining and the relics associated with the grueling trade. One nice aspect of this particular example is it sports a'spring loaded' mechanism that fits over the candleholder area. Though a tight fit. I am supposing maybe a peg lamp would fit through the circular ... morearea instead of a candle. An interesting design variation no matter what the purpose. Unusual Antique English Mr. Punch Letter Holder - Registration Diamond for 1875
A wonderful and most unusual Victorian letter rack or holder. Perfect for the Mr. Punch enthusiast with three seated Punch panels creating the compartments to hold letters, notes or even business cards. This slim panel of brass has a shaped and pierced or reticulated border and a circular cut-out at the top, clearly for wall-hanging. The three Mr. panels are beautifully executed with intricate detail. Each of the panel is lucky enough to sport an English design registration diamond allowing us to date it fairly accurately. Unusual Antique Tin Box Late1800s Navy Blue Black & Gold Lion Crest Coat of Arms
Unusual Antique Tin. Navy Blue with Gold Scrolls and Crests This unusual antique tin has a wonderfully curved base. Hinged lid, and is decorated with metallic gold scroll motifs and crests. At first look, the background appears to be black, but I believe it is a dark navy blue that has aged to a darker appearance. The tin looks to date to the late 1800s. There is no branding information, however, I’ve seen several Gray Dunn tins dating to 1892 to 1895 with this same shape. The coat of arms on the lid looks somewhat Scottish, and the coat of arms on the front side is the Royal Arms of England. On the back is Ireland’s coat of arms. On the Ireland coat of arms it says“Registered No. 30?899. The vintage wear and patina includes some small areas of wear. Some scratches and scuffs, handling marks, some soiling, some small dents and dings, etc. ... moreCrest on the front side is rather scratched up. Some pink stains on the crest on the lid. A more noticeable dent on the back side near the crest. One side is detaching at the top– see photo. Some early rust starting here and there. Including a few spots inside. Some larger worn areas on bottom, and some sticker residue here. Hinges are well attached and move freely, and tin opens and closes fine with slight coaxing. The inside of the tin(including lid) smells a bit like canola oil and is a little tacky to the touch. Perhaps someone attempted to clean the interior with some sort of similar oil. Again. Condition issues of note: Crest on front is rather scratched up. Some pink stains on lid. A more noticeable dent on back side. ONE SIDE IS DETACHING AT THE TOP– SEE PHOTO· Inside of tin smells a bit like canola oil and the inside areas are a little tacky to the touch. A beautiful very unusual shape hand crafted. Hammered, dovetailed, oval copper kettle with brass finial. 31"inches all around, 11.25"and 9"inch long and short diameter. 7.25"inches tall from bottom to handle. Wonderful patina. Unusual Antique Vintage Victorian Double Cast Iron Inkwell w/ Candle Holder
This is a very unusual and beautiful(1800's? Victorian ink well that is made out of cast iron and features two glass inkwells. Along with a candle holder. There is some kind of bird figure in the center which makes up the base of the candle stick holder and there is also some kind of emblem in the center of the bird creature. There is also a place to hold two quills or pens. On the back of the Gothic framework shows the detailed back of the bird. Almost an Egyptian Deity? The Size is approximately 7 3/8” in height and 9” by 5 ½” wide base. The Condition; it has been painted by someone. There is wax on it in places from someone using a candle as evident in the photos, looks like something was burned in the bowl area. A most unusual book carrier or adjustable book slide. Made from solid cast brass, top quality and extremely handsome having been professionally re-polished to gleam. What makes it really unusual is it's form, with the moving third bookend, which slides along the holder depending on the amount of books you wished to store. Here is a very old"DOVETAIL SEAMED BOTTOM" Copper POT. This is about 19 inches in overall length including the handle. The pot is about 9inches wide x 5 inches deep. There seems to have been a silver type tin interior coating that shows some age. There are 3 rivets holding on the solid copper/bronze? handle. The handle tip has a slight curl on the end and there is a small nick on pot rom photo# 11 that is very small. I do not know the age or origin but is seems very old no marking that I can see. Antique Boston Terrier Doorstop/Unusual leather and metal-studded harness
I have to admit I bought this due to the unusual leather and metal-studded harness. I have just never seen a similar Boston Terrier doorstop- and you see a lot in Boston! This is cast iron and quite old. It is about 10" high- I do not see a maker's mark. It weighs about 10 pounds. Condition is as found(estate) and as shown. Please look at all photos to form your own opinion of quality and condition. I would say this has its original black finish and shows some rust from being in a wet barn. Based on others I have seen. My guess is that the nut holding the two pieces together is a replacement. The leather of the harness is dry but there are no breaks. The studs show some rust. We are not really sure what to call this. It is an antique lithographed tin small oval tip tray- except that the image is CONVEX- sort of like a tip tray turned inside out! Only 2 3/8" by 3 1/2" oval. Depicts a beautiful Victorian lady with pink flowers. The only lithograph mark that appears on this"tray" is a capital letter"A" inside of a circle(third photo) There is a little bit of rust on the front side. Wonderful antique midwife umbilical cord clamp. Wonderful stork with a fish in the belly. Most I have seen have a baby. These are hallmarked on the underside of the beak with 800 then a few hallmarks that has been worn down and I can not make them out. As far as I can tell they are in good condition, the clamp doesn't come to a complete close and there are tarnished areas. Origin in unknown to me. They will be shipped in a box and not a padded envelope. At the time of listing I have polished these for photos, due to them being silver may have more tarnish when item is received by you.

Unusual Rustic Antique Metal Vessel for Storing Oil or Other Products
This is a designer's dream accessory. Full of rustic charm and character, and it must have a great story. I'm not sure what the piece was used for originally but I was told by the designer in Toluca Lake where I found it years ago that it was very old and perhaps used for storing oils or grains. The rugged rusty patina of the piece is what makes it so interesting. Some of the"netting" around the vessel is coming apart on the backside; so I just always displayed the piece with the front side visible. The urn stands about 12.5 inches tall and measures about 9.5 inches across at its widest point.
