Add 1"5/16" to it for where the wire comes out. 3"3/4" Across cap not including the spots of the bolts. 9-S-4532-L Number on lid. Looks to be made of aluminum. Added 3 pictures of the lens. Found a small chip shown in picture 1. Glass lens looks to be in really good condition. One chip. No cracks that we can see. Did not unbolt it. Lens may be about 3"3/8" dia x 3" to 3"1/8" tall. This is a super rare old used bronze or brass sailboat wheel we found at a local swap meet. It has Edson Destroyer Wheel engraved in the bronze. This one was used for steering of a large sailboat. This one measures 20 inches across. The steering shaft is still attached on the back. We did not want to remove it just in case someone wants to reuse it. There are some scrapes. Brass Ships Bell Manchester Ship Canal Co. 1920’s Tug Boat England M.S.C.Co.
Here we have a brass or bronze ships bell marked on the front“M.S.C. Co. Bell measures 8” in diameter and 8” tall. Weighs 8-1/2 lbs, and is in excellent condition with no cracks or dents. The clanger is missing but the clanger hanger is still intact. Really a very nice historic bell. This came from one of the Manchester Ship Canal Company’s tugboats. Though exactly which tug it came from has been lost to history. The M.S.C. Co. owns and operates the Manchester Ship Canal. The following is some history of the canal: Opened in 1894. The Manchester Ship Canal was one of the last major canals to be constructed in Britain. It stretches for 36 miles from Eastham, on the southern shore of the Mersey estuary 6 miles from Liverpool, almost to the center of Manchester. The Mersey and Irwell Navigation was opened in 1740. Enabling boats to navigate ... morefrom Liverpool right up to Manchester. In 1882, a meeting of Manchester businessmen resolved to create a canal to enable sea-going ships to reach Manchester, so that Manchester industry could compete with other areas by avoiding the high charges for using rail transport and Liverpool Docks. ANTIQUE VERY OLD WOODEN MARITIME BOAT HAND HELD SHIPS LOG
I bought this several years ago at an estate sale of a gentleman who collected maritime antiques. I believe this is a very old Captains Log. It has two club ends and a chain that rolls up onto it. Every so often is a tab in the chain that has a number. I belive this was to measure water depth. The tabs are a combination of metal and some sort of a hard clay like plastic. Besides a number I have found a tab that is stamped"The Harbor Boat Biulding Co" One end of the hand cover is missing aproximately 1/6th of the wood. see picture for better idea) Also some of the hard plastic tabs are broken. But please make up your own mind about this. The rule measures approx 18 inches(460mm) long and is made from solid brass throughout. It is very substantial. Weighs approx 1.3 kilos, and has a handle at either end, and runs on two knurled rollers. The body is marked with the makers' name U.W.W. MAKERS BIRMINGHAM It is in good original condition. This is a lot of 16 glass negatives from the same man who did all the blueprints I've listed. These are from the late 1800's or early 1900's. Some of the boxes I will list have names and info and others don't. All the blueprints and specifications were from Detroit Shipbuilding Works. Great Lakes Engineering Company, Willamette iron and Steel and many random others. I really don't have much info on what some of these might be, but the next box I am listing is"About Detroit" so keep looking and checking back. The only thing this box says is SHIPS Machinery Et Cetera It is a W. Schiller and Company Perfection Dry Plates box These appear to be miscellaneous ships. Steamers, boats, sailboats and giant machinery. Circa 1900, but please make up your own mind about this. The clock measures approx 5 inches(130mm) in diameter across the bezel. And 6 1/4 inches(160mm) across the backplate. It is made from heavy brass. And has a thick bevelled edged glass. As can be seen from the photos. It has a nice clean dial, calibrated in roman numerals, with a fast slow adjustment at the top. It is complete with its key. Winds up and runs as it should, and is in good original condition with very light wear consistent with its age, but no damage. There is a single wall hanging lug at the rear. This is a fine example of its type and it would make a great addition to any collection. The larger bowl measures 9 inches and is in great vintage condition with a very small flea-bite size nick near the top edge. Also appears to have a black mark along the edge. The smaller bowl measures 8 inches and is in great vintage condition with a very small flea-bit size along the rim. Also appears to have a red mark on the side. The red sail boat decorations that are on both sides of both bowls show very little wear. Both bowls have the McKee mark. McK in a circle, on the base. These bowls are in great vintage condition. I mention the flea-bite nicks because I want to be completely clear but they are very small and hard to notice. I couldn’t even get a good picture of them. Vintage"Airguide" Brass Ship's Clock and matching Barometer originally purchased in Marin sometime in the mid to late part* of the last century. The 3-1/2" face mechanical timepiece has a 7 Jewels 8 Day windup movement. The 5" in diameter by 2" deep Diecast brass plated( case(pattern number P 4592) is splashed with battleship grey over-paint. The back of both pieces still have the original price stickers. There is No Key for the clock. The original key was held in place with a set screw or cotter pin. So I'm totally guessing. But based on other items in the estate and the construction of the pieces themselves, the indication is that they were made in the 1960s through 1970s. If there is any eBay/clock maven that can provide supported reference I will be happy to amend the description accordingly. Condition: ... moreUsed good. No Key for the clock but was wound gently and the clock ran for a few days. This was done using a spring hook to grab the hole in the shaft.
