1800'S SET OF 3 HALLMARKED EARLY HANDLED PEWTER MEASURES NICE PATINA
This auction is for a set of 3 pewter measures probably from the mid to late 1800's. There is a 2 deciliter and two 1 deciliter measures. There is a ding on the larger measure and one ding on one of the small measures as seen in photos. Also the spout on the large measure has a little ding and there are some little droplets near the handle( in photo) apparently from when it was made. Various hallmarks are on them with an angel blowing a horn and KDPR on the bottom of the larger measure( think its German) and R G in a triangle on one of the small measures(English? The other small measure has F. Poulain and something then? there is actually a question.very odd) Looks to be French as it has Caen which is in the Normandy region of France. Offered for Auction: 3 Piece Copper Tea Set In the Art Deco Style with a nod to Arts& Crafts workmanship. The coffee pot is stamped with the maker's mark on the bottom. However it's illegible(it looks like two deer in front of a hearth but I cannot tell if I'm just seeing things) The coffee pot has an offset wooden handle and a diamond shaped spout on a tapered fluted body and a wooden finial on the lid. The covered sugar has the same tapered fluted body with a brass finial on the lid and the creamer is fluted and has an applied handle. The lids fit snugly. The interiors of each piece are tinned, however the finish has worn so these are being sold for decorative purposes only(copper toxicity is a concern in un-coated copper holloware) The seams are so precise that it's difficult to know if the set was hand crafted or manufactured ... morein a factory. Condition: Fair given their age and use. The wooden handle on the coffee pot is loose as the wood has shrunk over the years and holes have enlarged one brad is missing and as small brass screw has been substituted. There are small dents and dings and surface scratches and discoloration on all three pieces. The tinned interiors are worn and the copper is exposed and there are few dark spots in the coffee pot. There are finger prints on the surface. The coffee pot measures overall 7 5/8" H x 4 3/4" W(with spout) x about 6 1/2" with the handle. The opening is 2 3/16" in diameter and the bottom is 4 1/4" in diameter. The covered sugar is overall 2 7/8" H x 3 3/8" in diameter at the bottom and the opening is 2 1/4" in diameter. Cool 3 Piece Gilded and Cut Prism Girondle Set Rare Bee Hive & Bears Mid 19th C
Very unusual and rare 3 piece mid 19th century girondle set on marble bases. Most of these have human figures or flowers as the main motif but these show 2 bears raiding a beehive- very charming look with bees stinging the bears. Particularly the standing one- he is turning to bite one. All of the marble metal portions are undamaged with the exception of the missing bits of gilding scattered all over and then the larger areas on the single candlesticks, particularly one of these. I am confidant these could be satisfactorily touched up by a restorer with gold leaf. The prisms are all the snow flake type cutting and there are small chips scattered around these and some may be period replacements. A great addition to any mantle or sideboard or collection of such early lighting. Approx 14 5/8" tall and 14 1/2" wide on the triple light ... moreand 12 1/2" tall and 5" wide on the singles. Filigree Designed Mirror Brush& Comb Cover Matching Set Filigree(also spelled filagree. And formerly written out as filigrann or filigrene) is a delicate kind of jewelry metalwork. The best of filigree craftsmanship was done with a special technique that could only be successful by an artist of the craft. It included soldering together hand crafted metal wire designs to the surface of the same metal and arranged in artistic motifs. A very fine antique. Circa 1850, cast brass girandole set as Paul and Virginia. Lightly gray veined white marble block bases. Brass acanthus leaf bobeches with all matching cut glass prisms and beads. The socket rims to the candlesticks are different cast than the rims on the candelabra, the bobeches on the candlesticks flair out, the candelabra bobeches turn down. The candelabra measures 15-1/4" tall by 15" wide, by 4" deep at marble, the candlesticks15" tall, by 6" wide by 4" deep at marbles. Excellent condition: polished marbles without chips, crack, or soiling. Brass in original finish, no breaks or losses. The glass prisms and beads are without cracks or chips. The three piece set is for one price.

The largest example with a cover with raised rim above openwork sides of conjoined scrollwork and projecting lozenges, on a waisted foot; the second example, similar but smaller; the third example with bulbous body with projecting vertical lozenges.
