The rushing perspective draws our eye from the foreground-the large Gothic arch entryway-across to Charles Bridge. This bridge. Winner gets an antique Benjamin Franklin bronze relief plaque in perfect condition. Although I am unsure of the exact age. I know this is an antique piece and not a new replica. It came out of a great upstate New York 1800's estate. There are no cracks, damage, or repairs. It has a nice patina consistent with it's old age. Vintage 1982 Grunwald Monument Copper Wall Plaque Relief This art copper wall plaque measures 11 1/2" tall- 10 1/4" wide. We have two plaques the second with different scenes and slightly bigger. This copper panel features the Grunwald monuments that immortalizes The Battle of Grunwald. Fought between the joint armies of Poland and Lithuania against the Teutonic Knights on July 15, 1410, is considered to be one of the greatest battles ever to take place in medieval Europe. A defining moment in Polish history, the battle was immortalized in Krakow with the unveiling of this weighty monument in front of an estimated 160,000 people on the 500th anniversary of the event in 1910. Antoni Wiwulski's(1877-1919) original ... moremasterpiece was, not surprisingly, destroyed by the occupying Nazis during WWII and the copy that now stands in its place dates from 1976, having been faithfully reproduced using sketches and models of the original. At the top on his horse is the King of Poland Władysław Jagiełło, his sword pointing downwards in his right hand. At the front is his cousin the Lithuanian prince Vytautas(Vitold) who is flanked on either side by victorious soldiers from the joint army. The dead man at the front is Ulrich von Jungingen, the Teutonic Order’s Grand Master, who lost his life during the battle.

With superb detaling in craftsmanship. Roman numeral of dates on both pieces, the larger'sophie' approx. 8" x 14" and'sigmund' approx. 8" x 12 1/2" Both bronze were acquire at a estate garage sale in NYC. Thus will no split them up"as in life"so it shall be"as in death"and are being sold to a collector together. Origins of this family's full history is hard to come by via the Internet. But there's no doubt about their importance and wealth of that period. The name V. James Sc. V. james fecit is marked on both items.
