Flowers in her hair, and holding a shawl in her hand. Her hair is styled in the classic Art Nouveau design. She is very lifelike and beautifully sculptured as are all of Philippe's works. She is dancing with her right hand in the air holding a shawl. The shawl only covers the back of her hand, an area above her shoulder and a small area by her legs. Be sure to check out the others. This is a great early framed metal wall sculpture depicting Mongolians(Ghengis Khan? raiding a Chinese village. It is signed in the lower left front corner. Henry L. Webster(1808- 1864) From"The History of Providence Industry" Unlike the jewelry industry. The Providence silverware industry was not established until the 1830s when the Boston silversmith Henry L. Webster convinced Jabez Gorham, a Providence jeweler, that there was a large market for silver flatware and holloware. The industry grew from a small silversmith shop under the direction of Gorham and Webster to a thriving, mechanized industry and ... morecorporate enterprise after the business was taken over by Jabez Gorham's son John in 1842. It later became"Gorham Silver" The metal sculpture has remnants of gold gilding which probably covered all of the metal at one time. Most of the gilding is gone except for the figures in the foreground. In the foreground. The lead horseman is carrying a shield and a spear and has a decapitated head hanging from the side of the horse as well as one hanging from the front of th horse. The horseman is trampling over a semi- nude woman who has dropped her baby. The next horseman is setting fire to a thatched roof in the village. The foreground figures are created separately and then attached to the relief background. The background in relief shows more raiders following the two in the front. The lead horse has lost part of his front leg, which a repair could be cast from another leg, if desired. There is no other damage to the metal. The frame is covered in velvet and the corners are embellished with heavy metal brackets. There is a 2" split on the front left edge of the velvet. This is a rare Minneapolis Handicraft Guild hand hammered copper box with decorated lid. Please see all photos. Ive tried to show the hammering. Most visible to camera on the underside of the lid. There is a stone(i dont know what it is made of) on the top surrounded by an enamel-like similar color around it. The piece is signed. I suspect this was a make up compact, there is residue of something inside. It is aprox a little over 2" wide and 1" tall. Ive had it in my collection for 15 years so it is fresh to market. c1800 RARE Russian SIGNED brass bronze candlesticks candle holders
This is a RARE antique pair of solid brass(or bronze? Russian signed candlesticks. They are in excellent condition. You have probably never seen a pair like this before! They have seams going up and down each side of them. The signature of the maker is in the front on the base of each one. I have provided a close-up of the Russian writing for you to read. But I cannot interpret it. I would date these to around the early 19th century(c1800) or perhaps earlier. I have others similar to these but I cannot get to them right now. I have not polished or cleaned them, as I prefer my metalware as-is. They stand about 8 3/4" high. Almost 4" across the square bases. There is what appears to be a very old repair to one of the candlesticks. And I have provided close-ups of that area. Hardly noticeable. Other than what was mentioned above. Possibly an Inaugural Centennial-Anniversary Era piece. Maker's name on the back"J.H. WEBB/ LAKE VIEW/ WORCESTER. MASS. Axe is 13-3/8" long from tip to tip. It has what is probably a later coat of black paint with a silver undercoat on surface. This has a fancier and slightly different design than others of these Washington axes I've seen. From my old collection. I have owned this bronze for about 25 years now. Here is an Antique Vienna bronze French Bulldog in a larger size. This fine old bronze dog is one of my best old Austrian bronzes. He has wonderful details and a great expression and wears a big studded collar. He is 4 inches tall by 5 5/8 inches long. And larger than most Vienna bronzes which are miniatures. The French Bulldog is standing. He is an interesting color sort of a tan and darker brown, maybe a brindle color, his collar is reddish and his face is a darker brown than his body. He is signed“GESCHUTZ” underneath, and he is an antique bronze that dates from about 1890. His paint is in perfect condition with none of it missing, maybe a tiny bit of wear from age if you look closely. Charles Oskar Haag was Swedish. He was born 1867-1933. This is a piece of his work of a copper plaque with possibly Mary carrying shaves of wheat. The plaque is signed along it side CH. HAAG& the piece is mounted on marble attached to an antique brass easel frame. I have described the damage to the marble which has beautiful patina. He stretches his long muscular body. He kneels and curls an arm backward. Like a classic pin-up. He pushes his chest out, tilts his head up and is ready for his close up. 100% bronze and handmade, this brown patina sculpture was cast using the"Lost Wax Method" and mounted on a marble base and is signed by artist Milo. The process of bringing a bronze sculpture to life using the lost-wax method is something you'll appreciate after taking this tour- Enjoy. Here Artist original clay ... moresculpture is nearly ready for the foundry. Note the artist is still adding the finishing touches. Most sculptors prefer to work with clay or wax; some however. Do use wood and other mediums. Here the finished original clay is now complete. The sculptor will take it to the foundry now, get a bid then begin the first stages of the lost wax process. The first step can be shocking for some as they begin to decide how this original will be cut up. In order to prepare the original clay sculpture for molding. It will be dissected by cutting the clay with wire and by cutting the armature with a saw. The armature is what helped support the clay in place while the artist was creating it. Note the registration marks which later in the process will serve to realign the parts. Shown here are the sections of the original clay sculpture after having been dissected. Now the various parts of the original are carefully mounted on clay plugs before the rubber mold material is applied. The clay plug later serves as a pour spout for the mold. Rare Pre- WWII Figurine. Large silver colored finish/patina metal TIGER or possible Lion on a base. Net weight is approximately 4 pounds 12 ounces, measures 3.75 inches tall x 10 inches long x 4 inches wide, marked on the bottom HENRY 1940 41, fully felted bottom. Some overall wear and scuffs of patina and one particular spot on center of back worn patina but no damage. RARE Large SIGNED Antique AUSTRIAN Vienna Bronze Race HORSE Signed
Here is a fine large Antique Austrian bronze of a standing Race Horse or Thoroughbred. This Vienna bronze Horse is one of the best of my old Austrian bronzes. He is very well done and is in fine condition considering his age. He looks like a Thoroughbred or maybe he is an Arab horse, he is definitely a Stallion. The Stallion is a bay. He is painted in soft browns with a black mane and tail, black legs with white“socks” on his feet. This bronze dates from the late 19 th century and was well taken care of since his paint is in perfect condition with only a slight bit of wear. His delicate ears and thin legs are undamaged, he stands very well, and he has a detailed face with a nice expression. The Race Horse is signed“STB” in an oval stamped near his front legs and he is also stamped“GESCHUTZ” by that signature. My photos show this pretty well ... morebut I wish they showed this fine Horse a bit better as he looks much nicer than my photos show. This antique Austrian bronze Horse is larger than most. He measures 4 1/4 inches tall by almost 5 inches long. A very nice antique Vienna bronze offered at a reasonable price. This fine sculpture would make a great addition to any collection, so don't miss this old fellow. This bronze will be well packed and insured so that he arrives safely. Exquisite RARE signed Bijan Bahar Very Vintage Large Brass Flower Wall Sculpture
Outstanding. Rare, beautiful. This signed vintage Bijan flower(lily? amaryllis? sculpture is in excellent vintage condition with only minimal wear. About 30" tall. It is marked Bijan with copyright symbol on the front. Very low on the stem. On the back it is hand-marked Bijan with the copyright symbol and a date. but I cannot make out the date. Bijan began his art enterprise in 1959. It looks like the date is 61, which would make it extremely early, but I do not know if his metal arts date back that far or not. It is also possible that the date is stamped upside down, making it 77 perhaps. Please see the photos and make your own guess to the date. There is also another tiny Bijan signature on the back of one of the flower petals. This is a large and heavy, high quality piece of art which has survived through the years and will continue ... moreto survive due to its solid brass construction. Bijan made many of his decorative metal sculptures out of individual components which are bolted together, not welded. The classic and most common, identifiable Bijan mid century piece is a stunning Bonsai tree. Many of his sculptures are gaining in popularity. The later ones have a date stamped after the copyright symbol on the front of the pieces, whereas this flower only has the name, not the date, on the front. I have looked and looked and have not seen this one, or anything really like it. It is truly a unique vintage treasure. Feel free to email with questions or offers. Thank you.
