This is a great piece! I would qualify it as Jere-style. Spanish Revival or Brutalist. It is a pillar candle holder. It is constucted of cast ferrous(iron or steel) bars as well as a ferrous sheet metal(the magnet had a very strong attraction all over the piece) The cast bars are welded to a substantial ring. The base is a sheet metal. The whole piece is gilded. There is a"well" on the bottom. I can see how a large pillar candle could rest on it OR how a tealight could be sunk in for an eerie/romantic effect. The piece weighs nearly 2.5 lbs. It looks as if were expensive in its day.something purchased at a furniture gallery. Rather than a five and dime. The piece is strong and sturdy. Unusual Antique Vintage Victorian Double Cast Iron Inkwell w/ Candle Holder
This is a very unusual and beautiful(1800's? Victorian ink well that is made out of cast iron and features two glass inkwells. Along with a candle holder. There is some kind of bird figure in the center which makes up the base of the candle stick holder and there is also some kind of emblem in the center of the bird creature. There is also a place to hold two quills or pens. On the back of the Gothic framework shows the detailed back of the bird. Almost an Egyptian Deity? The Size is approximately 7 3/8” in height and 9” by 5 ½” wide base. The Condition; it has been painted by someone. There is wax on it in places from someone using a candle as evident in the photos, looks like something was burned in the bowl area. This is made out of Iron Plates. Not sure if it falls under cast iron or not. I'm sure it is a one of a kind home made item as it is very crude made. It would look nice in an old rustic cabin. I think it was used with a candle inside so the smoke comes out the chimney or it could be a bird feeder or it could be a change holder, toss the penny's down the chimney type of thing.
