Very nice. Old antique cast iron doorstop! This gorgeous piece is probably Hubley. It features a beautiful English Bulldog or Boston Terrier which was mounted(years ago) on a thick wood back and base. It is in very good, antique condition with some expected age spots to the cast iron. There is still a nice finish to the dog and the wood base is very nice with wonderful aging characteristics. This is a unique piece as you don't find them mounted very often. The wood dimesions are 17" wide and 10.5" tall and is 4" from front to back. The dog measures 9" tall and is 8" wide. Antique Cast Iron Doorstop Full Figure French Bulldog By Hubley or National Foundry For Your Antique Cast Iron Doorstop Collection. Details Description: Antique cast iron doorstop cast in the form of a full figured French Bulldog. The bulldog is sitting on its hind legs and having its front legs straight. The dog's head is tilted sideways to its right and upwards. Its ears are perked-up. It is wearing a cream collar. The dog is colored in cream off-white and black colors. The details of the dog's face are very well cast so you can see its eyes. And mouth. Look at the wrinkles around the eyes. The door stop is made of two parts held together with a screw. The screw appears not to have been unscrewed in the past and we decided not to try to unscrew it to verify the existence of marks on the inside. The piece is all original with quite ... moreof its original paint remaining and having some losses of paint. This is a nice size piece and weighs about 5 pounds. This is a great antique piece that we believe was made around the 1930's. The piece is extremely well made. Not like the one's you see now. It measures approximately 10" x 10-1/4" x 5" The piece has remnants of the original paint job which featured a black body with a white section under the chin. But a lot of the original paint has worn off. The casting has a lot of detail with realistic looking face, whiskers, eyes and even ribs sticking out on the side of the body. A lot of these pieces were made by Hubley, but this one is not marked so we're not sure if it's a Hubley or another brand.
