This circa 1880 possibly older Gilded Bronze FOOTED TRAY has a border in crisp relief showing an abundance of French Country folks chatting, drinking from mugs, on horseback, reaping, and loading kegs onto a wagon, all entwined with vines. There is a bit of wear due to age in the center which shows the bronze color which looks like copper but I do believe it to be bronze although it could be copper. There is also a very slight visible ring in the center probably from something that was set on it. I have not tried to polish this out. Measuring 9.25" top-to-bottom and 13.25" in length. The tray is 1.25" high on its four little brass bun feet; the molded-relief front is backed ... moreby gilded and some gilding has rubs in the center-front wood-grained area, and on the back where hands would balance the tray for carrying, from a non-smoking environment. RARE PAIR 19C ALBERT GEORGE STEVENS GILDED BRONZE LION SCULPTURE ANDIRONS MANTLE
PRESENTED FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION A Rare Pair of Antique 19th Century Albert George Stevens 24 kt Gold/Gilded Bronze Lion Sculpture Andirons. This beautiful pair of bronze lion andirons were sculpted and created by Albert George Stevens(1817-1875) He created the lion sejant model in 1852. They were cast in iron. 25 lions sat on the dwarf posts by the entrance& railings outside the British Museum, London. They were removed in 1895, some were later placed on the railings around the Wellington monument in St Paul's Cathedral, London, some put into storage, one resides in the Natural History Museum. From 1896 onwards, the Covent Garden firm of Messrs D. Brucciani& Co. made bronze casts of Stevens lions, which were sold for 7s. 6d. each. Other variants were produced in earthenware by the Manchester firm of Pilkington's Tile and ... morePottery Company between 1899-1900, and by Carter& Co. of Poole, Dorset, during the early 1900s. A plaster bronzed cast was given to the Tate 1912, now resides in the Victoria& Albert Museum. In 1896 Messrs D. Brucciani& Co were permitted by the trustees of the British Museum to take casts. As a result cast iron reproductions can be seen on the Law Society building and Ely House(now Malletts) in London, and the City Museum Leicester and they were popular as staircase and fireplace ornaments. In 1877 Lewis Day. Purchased a bronze lion(£4 5s.in 1877) from a sale of the contents of Stevens' studio following his death two years previously and openly admired Stevens' work. Lewis Day became a designer for Pilkington 1899, the same year they started to produce the Lion Sejant. Some confusion exists re. the Brucciani casts. Judy Rudoe writes in the 1991 British Museum catalogue that the Brucciani casts were bronze(page 25) however, these casts were sold for 7s. 6d. This relatively low price would suggest these were not bronze but perhaps cast iron. I have a stunning jeweled Austrian box compact for sale c. 1910. Its made of brass/bronze with detailed filigree work and paste glass jewels all over the top. It opens up to a mirror and space for powder. The box is missing a few small jewels/faux pearls in the centre. It has a small dent near the back. The mirror on the inside is also faded in a few spots from age. other than that its in very good condition for its age with only minor ware/oxidation.

SILVERCREST HUMIDOR with FOX and HOUND hunting scene brass on bronze gilded? NR
Here is an amazing vintage humidor from the Silver Crest Art Metal Company. It appears to be bronze with a brass or gold plated overlay of a hunting scene depicting the fox and hound. I have never seen one like this and the color appears more gold that anything. It could possibly be gold plated. There is also a very fine texture to the body of the humidor that reminds me of Tiffany Studios. There is the original glass insert that is in perfect condition and undamaged. Most of what you normally see from this company is the silver on bronze pieces. But this one is much rarer. The bottom has a new felt lining. But it is signed SILVERCREST on the bottom. The lid has the original sponge holder and is stamped 2472. The humidor remains in excellent vintage condition, making it the ideal decorative element in your collection. Arts and Crafts bronze ... morehumidors are highly collectible. We love the shape of this one and also the beautiful patina. Silver Crest was the trademark used by the Smith Metal Arts Company of Buffalo; expert craftsman from the Heintz Art Metal Shop formed the new company in 1919.
