This is an extremely old early 19th century rare pair of cast iron military men book ends. they are done with a beautifully thick gold gilded finish and have great patina from age. they depicts men from the army or military with colonial-like uniforms. they stand on routed square bases and have their arms propped up on large pieces of wood. the castings are very detailed and the figures even have little spurs on the back of their boots. each measures 6 inches tall by 2 1/2 inches and very heavy. they are both signed on the bottom with very early handmade hardware. they are in nice shape but one of the figures is missing a knife handle.
