Estate found this is 5.5" tall cast iron dog puppy doorstop sits on a 7" wide painted pillow. Cute dog seems to have the RCA Victor dog Nipper pose. As can be expected with these old doorstops there is some loss of surface paint and some flaking. Part of one ear is broken off. Do to his age(I mean we are talking about 560 in dog years! he has a few blemishes mainly around his paws and his white'fur' is more of an off white hue. He does appear to have been lovingly'groomed' by his previous owner. I believe they painted some of his black. Probably where the color came off a long time ago. Uncommon Antique Solid Cast Iron Small Size Heavy Doorstop Beautiful Puppy Dog For Your Antique Cast Iron Doorstop Collection. Details Description: Antique heavy(3 pounds and 9 Ounces) but rather small in size(5 1/2" long and 4 1/2" high) cast iron doorstop. the doorstop is cast in the form of a cute puppy(not certain of the breed) dog. The puppy is standing on all four with its head turned left towards you. The puppy has a very muscular body suggesting possibly some sort of a bull dog but has a much cuter face and droopy ears suggesting possibly another breed? Its head is straight looking and its ears are drooped over its head. The dog is colored in cream off-white and black colors. The details of the dog's face are very well cast so you can see its eyes. And mouth in red. Look at the wrinkles around the eyes and nose. The ... morepuppy is wearing a red studded collar around its neck and has a short tail. The doorstop is made of one piece of solid of cast iron and as such is completely solid and rather heavy for its size. The piece appears to be all original but has lost quite a bit of its original paint. This however does not affect its looks but rather gives it great character. Again, this is a smaller size doorstop than you would normally see, but has the weight to stop any door you may think of. We have attempted to research this doorstop but were unable to identify any similar doorstop in our books or the internet, which leads us to conclude that this is a rather unusual or uncommon piece. Please view photos as they are part and parcel of the description. Date: Uncertain. But most likely early to mid 1900s Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania. This auction is for an antique solid cast iron Sealyham terrier? dog bookend or doorstop. I am sure this is a repaint. But an older repaint with wear from use over time. There is lettering casted on the front of the base portion but I can't make it out. I have tried to photograph hoping someone else can make it out. I keep seeing Dorothy-B but that makes no sense. The doorstop measures approximately 4-3/4" high, 5-1/2" wide, 2" deep and weighs about 3 lbs 12 oz. Good used condition- some paint wear. I am not an expert so please ask questions. Vtg Cast Iron Hubley Boston Terrier Dog Right Facing Doorstop Nice Appearance
You're bidding on a nice vintage cast iron doorstop figural Boston Terrier- This is a known Hubley design. Although from what I can tell they were never marked so authenticating them can be difficult. The things he has going for him in terms of authenticity, to me, are that he is heavy- nearly 8 lbs- so no skimpage on metal, the two screws on the back are flatheads and not more modern screw types, and he does show paint overlap suggesting that he was airbrushed, although his collar looks as though it might be handpainted. He retains most of his paint, but does have some rust around the feet and some wear of the black paint along his sides that gives him a little bit of antique charm, in my opinion. ANTIQUE HUBLEY CAST IRON COCKER SPANIEL DOG / DOORSTOP / PAPERWEIGHT
This wonderful Hubley 1800's paper weight is in the shape of a resting cocker spaniel dog! He has a very RARE moveable head that can look from left to right.I was unable to find the Hubley signature but it has the Hubley look and feel. The screw is single slotted and there are 3 imprinted numbers underneath although I am unable to make out all of them- I think they are 129 or 8 or? The patina is mottled red and black- the predominate being red The condition is very good- there is a small hole on the bottom edge- see last picture. The eye color has been retained and is bright. This piece has what I would say is normal wear for a casually kept cast iron figure that is well over a hundred years old! Great detail on the coat- a true quality piece! Judd Japanese Spaniel Cast Iron Doorstop 718 Chin Pekingese Door Stop Dog CJO NR
RARE JUDD JAPANESE SPANIEL CAST IRON DOORSTOP Up for auction is a hard-to-find cast iron doorstop. It depicts a Japanese Spaniel(or Japanese Chin) standing upright in a begging position. I've also seen this piece referred to as the"Begging Pekingese" doorstop. There are no manufacturer markings. But it's been attributed by numerous sources to having been made by the Judd Company(CJO) in Wallingford, Connecticut, probably during the 1920's. It's marked on the back with the mold number"718" I've also seen it marked with the number"1267" This doorstop is pictured on page 82 in the book" Doorstops" by Jeanne Bertoia. The doorstop stands about 9" tall. The base measures approximately 5" wide and 2 1/4" deep. It's very heavy and made of solid cast iron. I purchased this ... moredoorstop at a quality estate auction several weeks ago. It's guaranteed to be an original vintage cast iron doorstop and NOT a modern reproduction. 1930's Hubley Cast Iron Boston Terrier Boston Bull Dog Doorstop original paint
For your consideration is a 1930's. cast iron. Hubley Boston Terrier/ Bull Dog Doorstop. Doorstop measures 8" long. Sits 8-7/8"H and is 2-7/8" wide. All original paint, but I don't believe the collar is original although it is very old! The collar is very brittle and worn. The paint is a beautiful brindle brown with creams, but there are many chips and wear to the paint which is to be expected from an old doorstop. All items are offered and sold in“AS IS” condition. I believe it is a dalmatian but could be just a good old hound dog. He is marked to the rear with the model number as well as the Virginia Metalcrafters logo and the date of 1986. He is in nice condition original paint on nose& Collar with little wear. There is a small spot of near the year 1986. His paint is light green in the recessed sections which give him a very nice look. Please note that anything that looks white on him is from my photo lights.
