They are just wonderful, and most unusual, and we'll tell you why! They are marked with the Craftsman logo. An anvil, and the number of the design, which is"756" Here's the history of Craftsman of Laguna Beach. California. We found the following on a web site when we were researching the mark: My grandfather. Robert Leftwich, worked as an apprentice there until 1929, when he purchased the company. He continued to operate the business until he sold it in the late 1950s. He died in 1965, and there's no one left to fill in any history. I have some copper pieces my grandfather made in the'30s. According to family lore, his ... moreformula for the distinctive patina on his work remained a secret. But I remember hearing that he had a longtime assistant named Gregory who went on to form Gregorian. We also found the following: Craftsmen Inc. Renamed from Craftsman Studios Company of Laguna Beach, California by 1929. The logo changes somewhere between design No 820 and No 834 with incorporation in 1959. The Laguna Beach building was destroyed by flooding in the 1960s. We also learned. On the internet, that Craftsman Studios was on Laguna Canyon Road, in Laguna Beach, CA, and it was heavily damaged by the"Flood of 1938" and as you read above, destroyed by flooding in the 1960's. I used to live in Laguna Beach, CA and can tell you that the area is still prone to flooding, and fires! Now. What's even more unusual about these? The clay, Chinoisserie style inserts which have glass tubes inside them. They are for converting the candle holders to flower holders! How cool is that, and how rare. There is a slight bend to the paper holder, and a shiny spot at the top. Good original patina to the rest. This is a nice hand-hammered copper tray from the CRAFTSMAN STUDIOS in Laguna Beach. California. I believe it dates from somewhere around the 1920's. The tray has a great patina and measures roughly 16 inches diameter. We have used it as a center piece on our kitchen table(three felt pads stuck to bottom of tray to protect table) but it also has the ability to hang the pice on a wall. The inkwell is 2 1/2 inches high. And about 1 1/2 inches at the top tapering to 3 1/2 inches across the base. The inkwell needs a new glass insert which has a 1 inch break on the rim and other nicks and chips. The copper inkwell body and lid has a nice original shape. No dings or dents, and has darkened nicely over time. We notice it has visible surface grime and oxidation all the way around the bottom and here and there on the sides from storage and handling over the years, and has not been cleaned or polished. Beautifully made of hand hammered and chased shiny copper with a very nice pattern with slight patination on the lid and a scalloped pattern around the edge of the cap and the base. Too. Must have been kept in a drawer and wrapped to be so well preserved! Probably dates to about 1929 when Carl Wirths moved the studio to Laguna Beach, California or not long after. Definitely made prior to 1940, when the studio changed it's name to Craftsmen. The design of this piece reminds us of the later post modern design glass mushroom decanters and similar pieces. Here is a wonderful early 5 piece Arts and Crafts copper desk set made by Craftsman Studios. The original patina on these is wonderful. I think it has an almost bluish tint. Any white spots in the photos is from my camera. Included are the 4 blotter corners and the blotter. The four corners are marked with the early CS mark. The blotter does not appear to be marked but this set has always been together and have the exact same patina. No dents or other damage. My starting price reflects my investment cost. These early Craftsman Studios pieces are hard to find.

This bowl was also made earlier in the century, but the look of the piece changed slightly during 1940's. The bowl measures about 10" across X 3" high and has a hand hammered look. The top has ruffling in a petal design. This piece has the Craftsman Studio's logo of a hammer striking the anvil with"Hand Made" inside the anvil. The Bowl has some size to it as it stands 3 5/8" tall and is 12" in diameter outside rings measurements. The bowl itself is 11 1/2" in diameter. This Bowl has a wonderful hand hammered copper background texture. The top lip is rolled and hand hammered as well. There are 2 large rings that are applied evenly at opposite ends. The Patina is a wonderful craftsman brown on the outside with a deep Verdi green on the inside. This Bowl is considered to be in good condition as there are no Cracks or major dents to the Metal. The Vase does show signs of use on the inside. It appears that it was used as a planter because of the calcium deposits and the Verdi Green Patina. Craftsman Studios was an Arts and Crafts era through 1950s coppercraft shop operating out of Laguna Beach and Los Angeles California. Producing hand wrought copper home and giftwares, occasionally working in brass and silver. I've been collecting Craftsman copper items for nearly 30 years, and until now, I've never seen a non-metal item bearing their name. This pottery vase is a first for me- it's clearly marked in black paint on the bottom"100 H.H. Craftsman Studio- Laguna Beach Cal" The mustard-colored cylindrical vase is made from heavy yellow clay with what looks like a salt type glaze. It's 5 inches tall by 3-1/4" diameter. The front has a stylized hand painted floral motif of red flowers and green leaves. The base has a smeary black band hand applied under the glaze. I have not cleaned off the age patina ... morearound the rim or inside(there isn't much- just honest, age-appropriate light dust film) I did take a damp paper towel to the writing on the bottom to make sure it's original- it is. Craftsman Studios Laguna Beach Copper Candle Wall Sconce Arts & Crafts Mission
Original Craftsman Studios of Laguna Beach. California copper candle sconce. It has the stamped hallmark on the back that reads"Craftsman Studios" above a hammer and anvil, Hand Made" written in the anvil and" At Laguna Beach, Calif. underneath. This copper wall sconce has hammered edges and an blue painted oval behind where the candle would stand. It is 9.5 inches long and 3.5 inches wide at the widest section. The candle holder for a standard size candle extends out about an inch and a half. There is a small hole at the top for attaching the sconce to the wall. The patina has lots of mottling and dark spots. A bit of the blue paint on the raised 5 inch oval has worn off as shown. Laguna Studios was founded during the height of the Arts and Crafts period. It had several name changes. In 1929 it became"Craftsman Inc" ... moreso this piece predates that change and is one of the earlier pieces.

But they also have Laguna Beach California under the anvil. They measures just over 3" square. With the outside edge and centers being hand hammered. All are stamped in the metal on the bottom with the Craftsman Studios Hammer and Anvil mark along with Hand Made and 446 being a style or model number. They all have nice warm brown original patina. You can see some corosion as well as dark marks. One has some old tape residue which could be removed. I didnt want to try as I was worried about removing patina. Made of Copper metal. This handmade artwork pitcher is made with thumbprint design with twisted handle style. Measures approx. 6 3/4" tall and from spout across outside dimensions of approx. 5 3/4" wide. Comes in great condition. Well patina unpolished with few pivots and some turquoise accent colors appearing. I see no holes or damage to this piece anywhere. Unknown age. A very unique artwork design. Outstanding handmade hammered copper letter opener by Craftsman Studios. Laguna Beach California, dating to the 1930s. Large, at about 10 1/4" in length. The sweeping blade has a few tiny dings on the edge from use. Blade is supple, strong but flexible, while the handle is full size, large enough for anyone's hand. A well-designed piece that will display very well. I am a long time collector and collectibles dealer who is resurrecting this ebay ID for 2015. Your satisfaction is 100% guaranteed. Neat pair of antique hand made Arts& Crafts hammered copper and enamel bookends crafted by CRAFTSMAN STUDIOS. Laguna Beach, Calif. Very fine original condition. Repousse' design resembles a peacock fan tail, but upon closer inspection the center part has an organic, somewhat abstract native american look to it.and it has blue enameling. In other words.I don't know what the design is, but it is interesting and is the same motif used by Old Mission Kopperkraft on some of their desk set items. Size: 4" tall, 4-11/16" wide. Both are signed. These signed bookends have a cool design.they are not a commonly found form.and they are in great shape. Insured shipping is $15.
