Bucket, Box- Intricate Hand-Engraved This piece was purchased in the early 1970's when we lived ... morein Tehran. Copper pieces like this were dipped in tin for protection. When the piece was purchased. The metalsmith polished off the tin with a buffer wheel. Traces of the tin are left behind on the etchings and crevices. This enhances the definitions of the engravings and provides a beautiful contrast and exotic patina. Please refer to photos. A couple of small areas on the lower portion of the pot appear to have been patched. This is not uncommon for a piece of this age. The interior of the pot appears to have been lined or coated with something that has partially come off. The lid is hinged and has a latch that can be locked or secured I am not sure of the original purpose of this piece or what is was called. An item of this quality is rare and hard to find. A unique and interesting Collectible conversation piece. Dimensions: Base = 2.75" appx Top = 5" appx Height = 4.25" appx Height to top of Handle = 7" appx. There is a small chip on the outer edge of the top handle as shown in one of the pictures. Also shown is some slight irregularity to the metal which is natural to this kind of piece and only adds to the charm. The age of this wine cooler is estimated between 1920 to 1924. Making it 93+ years old. The Theodore Starr Silversmith Company operated in New York. NY from 1879 to 1924, and was succeeded by Reed& Barton. DESCRIPTION A sterling silver on copper wine cooler/ice bucket with flower scroll and leaf decoration. Double handles, ribbed pedestal base& lid. The silver Hallmark on the underside of the base is that of Theodore Starr Silversmiths. New York, New York. MEASUREMENTS are 10-1/4 inches high(with lid) x 22-1/2 inch diameter(not counting handles which add 3 inches) CONDITION The outside of the cooler and lid is shiny with no loss of silver. There is some faint tarnish ... morewhich should be easy to remove when new owner polishes it. There is one very tiny ding located about ¾ of an inch from the bottom of the cooler& in the same location on the inside. As I stated. It is very small and therefore, barely noticeable. The inside of the lid shows instances of where the copper is showing through, as does the inside of the cooler. There is a small area inside the cooler. In the middle of the bottom, where there is a small amount of oxidation. Overall. This beautiful wine cooler is in excellent vintage/antique shape, and after polishing it should turn out to be a very stunning piece! The pictures included show both sides of the cooler. This handsome piece is in excellent condition and boasts a beautiful patina. Marked on the bottom with a diamond shape with an emu bird in the center. Vintage Hammered Brass Bucket Iron Handle and Copper Rivets Incised Decoration For Your Vintage Brass Implements Collection Details Description: A vintage. What looks like hand-hammered, brass bucket. The bucket has a nice rolled rim and a loop handle made out of a ferrous metal(it sticks to a magnet) with hooked ends inserted into brass eyelets situated on both sides of the bucket. The eyelets are made of brass and are attached to the side of the bucket with copper rivets. The bucket has a slightly rounded circular base with flared sides rising to the rolled rim. The sides and base of the bucket shows marks of hammering to form it. The inside of the bucket has incised concentric circles in the bottom and incised lines running around the sides near the top and close to the bottom. This is a nice size and substantial bucket weighing almost ... more1 3/4 pounds. Just a beautiful piece of older brass, which would look great in your collection. Ice tongs are also copper and has a little green. All needs cleaning. Tongs heavy too. Tongs are about 9" long and width of sides is about 5/8" wide. Chrome bucket has many dents and one in front over design has crack. 2 Cracks in the backside of bucket too. I only used it as a decorative item. This belonged to my parents. Antique and Primative Hammered COPPER Bucket - Old Stable Find - Super Patina
For auction today is this beautiful Antique Primative Hammered Copper Bucket with hand forged Iron Handle. This was found at an estate where there is a very old farm in Virginia Beach. The farm has the most fantastic stables. I don't know what the bucket was used for but it leads my imagination. It is 9 1/2" tall. 10" in diameter and weighs 3lbs 8oz. The Patina is incredible. It has the expected wear marks but that adds character. There is some missing metal on the top edge in one place. Thanks for your interest and good luck.

Really Unique when you scroll through what is out there in this realm! No Footed Lion head coal scuttle buckets I found with the delft type of handle.on the handle only and not on the back grip piece! In addition. This is footed with rivets whereas most have a base only. This has been used a lot and it shows. Some small dings throughout, lots of discoloration and green spotting from age and a spot that looks like it hit the fire(at front right of spout- see photos) So certainly an item to appreciate in my eyes. Full of beautiful imperfections that make it just perfect. It is meant to be by fireplace but could also be fun for so many places and purposes in the home!
