From the Zulu people, South Africa. The word ukhamba is a Zulu word for a large clay vessel and the term is commonly used by all African cultures. The vessel measures 7 inches in diameter by 5 inches in height(17.7 cm by 12.7 cm) It is in very good condition and dates to the late 20th century. A fabulous collector’s item. Coming from an important mid-West collection of African art, it is guaranteed authentic and would make a fine addition to any collection of Zulu art or African art in general. In Zulu. Ukhamba consists of two words: ukukhama(which means to squeeze out or compress out as in milking a cow) + bamba(to hold in place so as to receive that which is squeezed out) The ukhamba is a vessel, a reservoir, and a protector of that which is valuable and good for physical and spiritual nourishment. It is a central piece in the rite of social fellowship and that rite itself is treated with respect and studied deference. The clay pot is made out of earth, and symbolizes the Eternal Mother and womb from which all emerge and gets buried in order for others to emerge. The clay pot gives shape to its liquid contents and this means the shaping of all human knowledge by a lived life on earth. Ukhamba pots are formed by building up coils of clay and smoothing them down with items such as the back of a spoon or a water-worn rock. The pot is put to one side until it has reached leather-hardness. When incised designs are created using found objects such as maize cobs, sharpened bicycle or umbrella spokes, combs and anything else that will create an attractive pattern. Originally, pots were mostly decorated by attaching lumps called amasumpa(warts) to stop the pot from slipping but today the most intricate designs are to be found, ranging from leaves, houses and shields to complicated geometric patterns. I bought this huge aluminum pot at a local barn. I believe it is a fireplace pot. It is 15" across and 10" deep with a large metal handle and another handle on the back to grab it to pour out the spout on the front. The bottom says"Wear Ever Aluminum. T.A.C.U.Co. Trademark, No. 128, Made in the USA" I didn't clean this at all but I think it would clean up really nicely it has a little surface rust in the bottom inside but very light, no holes or dents. Here we have a wonderful antique Abram Cox Pot belly cook stove in good vintage used condition. Black and gold trim. Has a number 12. On it. The stove measures about 24 inches tall, by 18 3/4 inches by 20 1/2 inches at the top by 18 inches by 20 inches at the base. Has two areas on top for cooking Missing one grate of two. Has door below for cleaning out ash after the wood or coal is gone. This is a great little stove for a cabin, for heat or to cook on for that great vintage cabin feel. Has a hole on top in back for a vent pipe. Needs to be checked out for safety before you use it. Was only used recently for a decorative piece in our home. Has a little vent flue that slides back and forth for air circulation. Has a wonderful eagle picture on the front of the stove. Looks pretty much original as far as I can tell but I am no expert on antique ... morestoves. The stove may need a part that is missing that I am not aware of. The stove has a great look to it with lots of character and charm. I think it dates to the early 1900's or so. Stove is marked Abram Cox Stove Co. Coleman Camping 501-960 Stove Aluminum Cook pot-Fry pan-Original Box
Up for auction is a vintage Coleman cook stove kit#501-960 that I just picked up today from an old man cleaning out his barn. I am not a collector of such things but this is really cool. I t is self contained inside a n aluminum c anister which also doubles as a fry pan and cook pot with an interchangeable handle. It does have a very small amount of pai nt loss along the bottom outside edge but I think this could easily be repainted with Coleman green spray paint if you are at all mechanical. It does have some fuel inside which will be drained before shipping.I don't really think this has been used that much and the paint loss around the bottom does not appear to be from water or rust.Also included are some vintage aluminum silver ware which appear to be military.One has USMC and the other has US engraved. In side is pure white- marked Made in France(see pictures) I have searched for weeks and checked with other collectors and nobody knows the actual maker or anything certain about this awesome and rare find- making this a collector's dream. This is a about a 2 quart sauce pot in perfect condition/ measuring 7.5" across. 13" with handle, 3.5" tall and 4.5" tall with lid on. 1944 U.S. Wear Ever 15 Gallon Aluminum Cook Pot- Needs Repair 1944 U.S. Wear Ever 15 Gallon Aluminum Cook Pot- Needs Repair This auction is for a USED 1944 U.S. Wear Ever 15 Gallon Aluminum Cook Pot. The writing on the front of the pot states"U.S. Wear-Ever 1944 15 Gals. The pot measures roughly 16 1/2 inches high and 18 inches in diameter. The weight of the pot is 10 pounds 13 ounces. The two handles are made of steel but the rest of the pot is constructed entirely out of aluminum. As seen in the pictures below. The pot has substantial wear from use and age. The exterior has numerous scratches, scrapes and patina wear throughout. The bottom of the pot has a large 10 inch diameter dent. In addition, there is a small slice to the bottom of the pot which will need to be repaired. We are selling this item As Is with any and all faults it ... moremay have.
