Antique 16th Century Italian Cast Bronze Apothecary Mortar Grotesque Heads Faces
This listing is for an antique Sixteenth C. bronze mortar of a form most identified with Northern Italy. It has four round heads in relatively high relief alternating with pillars. The mortar measures 2 3/8" tall. 4" wide across the top, and 3 1/8" across the base. It is quite heavy for its size- weighing 30.6 ounces. It is fairly well cast for its age, with some relatively crude finishing showing some worn-with-age but visible rasp marks below the rim. The edge of the rim shows a few areas of cast flashing that has become rolled under from use. The interior of the bowl has some light pitting and old, shallow, use marring- mostly concentrated nearest the bottom, as well as one dark spot in the side that looks as if something caustic had been on there at some point in time. The rim has a few very minor splits, and one very old ... morehalf-inch crack that is worn smooth at the edges. The under side of the base is worn slightly convex(more common on smaller vessels due to rocking during use) Overall, this is a fine example of a 400-plus year old mortar with good honest age wear, in good condition. Great authentic antique cast iron Snowbird or Snow Eagle. Circa late 1800' early 1900's. There are many styles and variations of these old architectural appointments and the Federal eagles were one of the most popular. Traditional example of artistic form following function. They were attached to the roofs to hold& keep layers of snow from sliding off. The snowbirds had mounting bars or straps that were usually placed about 24" from the roof edge. The'birds' then positioned side-by-side in a horizontal line. Their wings were designed to form a vertical barrier, holding the snow safely in place, allowing it to slowly melt. This Snowbird is an authentic architectural piece not a reproduction. It has a beautiful rustic bronze patina. It is without the mounting bar. The champlevé on the sheath depicts a green and gold festooned peacock on the sheaths end and a two headed golden German Imperial eagle at the top of the sheath. Antique cast bronze renaissance style inkwell 19th century
This cast bronze inkwell is done in the Renaissance Revival style. It is decorated with horns and other musical instruments. The cover to the well is decorated with acanthus leaves. It has an attached gallery on the back. It is 10 ½ inches long. 7 ½ inches deep and 3 ¼ inches high. It is likely French and dates circa 1880. It does not have a well insert. There is some polish residue on the inkwell. There is also a couple of spots that are brown, possibly from a stain.

Exceptional. Ca. 19th century cast iron Native American Indian figural statue pair Offered at 7 day no reserve auction is this finely detailed pair of Native American Indian cast iron statues. They most likely date to about 1880 or 1890. Made of cast iron and painted in a gold. gilt' type of paint, this pair measures 10 inches tall and approximately 4 inches wide at the base. After being evaluated by a couple of experts, they feel strongly they are most likely Tobacconist countertop cigar store figures. For clarity, I should also point out they have also been described to me as Stove Finials. I feel they are more likely countertop cigar store displays due to the tobacco leaves in the hair of each, and what appears to be a cigar in the waistband of the Native American man. RARE CENTURY OLD ANTIQUE CAST BRONZE INDONESIAN CEREMONIAL DINJIA ARMOR BOOKENDS
This bookend set is exemplary possessing intricacies that antique dealers and collectors admire. While also being in excess of a century old, and in prime condition. Depicted are Indonesian Men in Ceremonial Battle Armor. This Armor. Is too detailed to describe here, but many such suits and outfits are showcased at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts. What is seen here, is very true to what was actually worn by the elite of dynastic societies associated more closely with China. Both are without foundry marks or inscriptions. The bases on which each men are knelt. Are the same as the bases seen on a few Ronson pairs that came later. It is known though, that Ronson Metal Works, of Newark, NJ produced a highly selective line of Asian themed pairs. However, those on record are all either cast white or gray metal, finished in a wide variety of paints ... moreand decorative metals. The chance does exist that these are indeed Ronson, but a set made of higher grade material, brass and bronze, and also a set that may have been produced at the U.K. factory early in the 1930's. These seem a bit older though. While never a pleasant action. The reader must be informed that there is inconspicuous damage to one. Look closely, under the knees of one, there is a hole. This isn't visible when just sitting, but looking from the underside, it is there nonetheless. That same one, has an uneven bottom edge, it looks cast that way. The other bookend base it fine, with what looks like a scratch in the picture, in reality it is much less. These are dusty. And left in as found condition. The twist in"finials" on the helmet are original and have an intentional curvature. When screwed in place exactly, these stand vertically and give these even more height than what each already have. Both are 9" Tall. 3.5" Wide x 3.5" Deep, and weigh 6 lbs. Both are sturdy with a little wobble to the figures. Overall. These are great! The door stop measures approx. 7 1/4" wide, 5 1/2" tall, and 2" deep; weighing a sturdy 3.4 pounds. It is marked on the back with CN stamp. This Antique Hand Hammered Copper Kettle is 18th Century from Patricia Italy.It was my 82 year old Mother's Great Grandmothers. Natural Patina and in excellent condition for being over 200 years old. It came from the basement of her great Grandmothers house. My mother has been in the antique business for over 40 years and we are in the slow process of selling many other great antiques. The kettle is copper with a forged cast iron handle. It measures 12 3/4 across the top and 7.5 tall.
