Antique Early 1900s Imperial Trouser Hanger Wall Hanging Cast Iron NICE Hook Too Lots of oldees for you this week- some very cool and very old primitives. Fabulous retro industrial, wonderful original artwork, and even some deco thrown in- there’s something for everyone! Here is a unique one- it calls itself a trouser hanger. With a patent date on the front of November 29, 1900, but you can really use it for so many things- hang it up on the wall, and it's a nice towel rack, linen hanger, or just a general hook from which you can hang your displays! The backplate that mounts on the wall is made of cast iron, and it identifies that it is called an"Imperial Trouser hanger, put out by Pynchon& Co. in Philadelphia. The looping tubes in the front I believe are made of steel(if not cast iron, too, a magnet sticks to them) and look ... moreto have a nickel plated finish- I can't be sure, but it sure looks like the nickel finishes of the early last century- it's still quite shiny silver, with very little wear. Most of the teenie dark spots that you may see in the photos are actually dirt or grime- it could use a good cleaning. It weighs a hefty 1 1/4 lbs, and it measures 9 3/8" wide at the hooks, 2 3/4" deep hook loops only, and 3 1/8" deep from the backplate to the very front of the hook. I did notice that the backplate- which the end of the back of the hook is threaded into- tilts just a smidge off center to the left- it's really hard to notice(and easier to see from the back in my photos- see photo 7- it's just a touch off straight) and very well may be original as it does not budge for me- it's on tight. It's in excellent solid and sturdy condition. Aside from needing a good cleaning, there's a some small spots of white wall paint on the very edges of the backplate- from when the wall was painted, I'm sure. Three Rustic wood shelves with cast iron brackets. Two shelves are left facing and one shelf is right facing. Shelves look to be from door or window frame or maybe part of barn. Not sure of origin but all three together would look great as a wall grouping. Each shelf is 19" wide 3" deep and about 1" wide. The vertical wood bracket is 13" long 2" wide and about 1" deep. The metal brackets are rusted and are about 4 1/4" long and 3" deep. Shelves could also be turned upside down from the way pictured and the brackets would have hook on their ends. Old cast iron hanging flower pot or vase holder. 11 ½” x 7 ½” the inside diameter of the hoop at the bottom 4 ¼” All the elements are rounded and fully dimensional; the paint color is soft; the whole thing is solid and rigid. Unsigned. Very good condition; some of the paint has chipped off and shows iron underneath that has darkened or corroded. The paint has perhaps faded a little, too, but the loss is not what you notice when you look at it. What you see is the overall form and areas of light color, and the detail in the flowers and leaves. Also depicted are angels& the head of a god or goddess above and below is the head of a lion and two figures facing away& downward. Obtained from a Massachusetts estate sale. This is a very nice wall pocket type match holder. It is made of cast iron. The only thing I see wrong is the helmet moves a very little I don.T know if it suppose too, other wise it is in pretty good shape for its age. It is 7"x 41/2" The helmet is up side down to hold the matches and then you strike the match on the helmet. Here for your consideration are two cast iron flying geese or duck wall ornaments with hook that have their original silver paint. The listing is for both. The styling is unquestionably from the 1920-1940 period. The larger on is 11 inches long and the smaller is 8 inches from beak to tail.
