Antique Cast Iron Ashtray / Smoking Stand - Art Deco Figural Dragon - 25" Tall
Antique Cast Iron Ashtray/ Smoking Stand- Art Deco Figural Dragon- 25" Tall: Up for auction is a fantastic Antique/ Vintage Cast Iron Ashtray Stand that I came across on one of my recent'picking adventures' The ashtray/ smoking stand is in excellent condition as it is very clean and it is free of any cracks. Chips, breaks or repairs. The heavy ashtray cup sits perfectly between the body and curled up tail of the dragon, secured in place by two small slotted groves on the cup itself and the cup is easily removed from the stand for cleaning. The inside of the cup is very clean, showing only the slightest area of surface rust(easily cleaned) and this light surface rust is not penetrating nor is the cast iron pitted in any way. What is missing from the the ashtray cup is the lid which would rest on top and hide the contents of the ... moreashtray. This is not a major concern as these lids can be found from time to time and the absence of the lid takes nothing away from the wonderful look and appeal to this stand. The entire stand is painted in a way which resembles that of copper with a perfectly aged patina. Initially I had photographed the stand outside under the natural sunlight but I was finding that the sunlight was too bright, giving the coloration of the stand a more golden yellow toned color versus the actual copper toned look that it has however I found that the natural sunlight brought out the fantastic details of the stand so I decided to keep them with this posting but please know that the coloration is best represented in the photographs of the stand against the plain white sheet of paper. The paint is also in excellent condition having only a couple of small chips in it, all of which are hard to notice unless closely inspecting the piece and the ornate base raises the stand slightly off of the floor while balancing the piece perfectly in a sturdy manner. Piece was made about 1930. Doorstop measures 12 3/4 inches high and weighs in at a little over 7 pounds. Figure has a beautiful patina over the whole figure. Completely stable, meaning, no parts are missing or have ever been glued back on and there is no evidence cracks, breaks, replacement, or repair to my eye. In my professional opinion there may be slight possibility that the screw was replaced sometime in the 1940's- this is just a guess on my part since it is a small dome head vs flat- but maybe not since the poly-chrome paint is a perfect match on the screw. Finish is appropriate as well as texture for a makers typical materials; Paint or Patina is guaranteed to be 1st original finish. Do to his age(I mean we are talking about 560 in dog years! he has a few blemishes mainly around his paws and his white'fur' is more of an off white hue. Featured is an interesting antique Arts and Crafts cast iron door stop or possible book end depicting Columbus or some other European explorer. He has a sword and gun fastened into the belt around his waste and is standing next to what looks like a treasure chest. The figure is 7 1/4 inches tall and the base is 3 3/4 x 2 1/2 inches. It seems to have the original paint which does have some rust and loses as seen in the photos. I cannot find any makers marks but it may be signed somewhere on the piece and is circa late 18th to early 19th century.

The knife measures 2 1/8 in length with knife out. With the other attachment its 5" long. I cannot see any markings on the knife and I believe the other attachment to be a bottle opener(not sure though) It was found at and old barn estate sale in PA. I only did a light cleaning to it. Antique Cast Iron & Metal Figural Owl Epergne Vase & Card Receiver
This fantastic 19th century Aesthetic Movement Epergne Card Receiver measures about 16-1/4" tall. The cast Iron& Spelter section measures about 7-3/4" tall. The top and bottom of the base is cast iron the owl section is spelter or white metal. The glass vase section is actually cut along the rim not molded as pictured. The edge of the vase is a chipped just a bit and there is patina to the metal. It is really a beauty and I have not seen another like it.

Antique Cast Iron Old Hubley Era Parrot Cockatoo Bird LARGE Figural 14" Doorstop
Large 14" old cast iron parrot or cockatoo with original paint. The surface of the casting is smooth indicating an old piece. Looking at the bottom. You'll notice it is hollow with a square molded into the base leading me to think it was possibly mounted on to something. I did quite a bit of online research on this unmarked piece trying to determine a maker but found nothing definitive. Some say Hubley, others say Albany. Whatever the case may be, it's quite a nice casting. The paint has taken on an aged patina and although the paint is bright, it's not as bright looking in person as it is in the photos. There are some little nicks on the paint as well. The black base has some paint loss which shows some brown rust in the areas with the loss, a non issue really as it blends in well. Antique Cast Iron Figural Alligator Match Safe Holder Trinket Box
For sale is this very nice old Alligator Match Safe with striker on back. It has most of it's original paint with some wear and cracking marks on it. It is red inside. Green on the top and light tan on the bottom. It measures 8 1/2" long and 4" wide and 2" tall. Looks like the original pin in it also. It weighs around 2 pounds. A Great OLD piece to add to a collection of match holder safes or to use as a trinket box. Thanks for your interest. I do not send out of the USA

Heavy Antique Cast Iron Box, Figural Cube 6 lbs, 5" MATCH HOLDER ? Lid
Unsigned and undated. I am not sure what this was used for. Possibly kept on the mantle for wooden matches. The top and the four sides each have a different figure. It is 4 1/2" by 4 1/2" by 4 1/2" and weighs 6 lbs, 3 oz. Excellent vintage condition, no cracks or chips. There are two embossed marks inside, on the bottom, that I cannot read.
