The ball-bearing design provided a shock absorber for the pivot to reduce stress on the scale and improve its accuracy. VINTAGE MARKED BRADLEY HUBBARD BOOKEND CAST IRON DICKENS DOOR STOP BRASS BRONZE
SHIPS WORLDWIDE! Stately and heavy! This piece is made of metal and has the B&H foundry mark(Bradley& Hubbard) on the back. It has the bust of Dickens. Hence the thought it is a bookend. Due to its weight, would make a great doorstop as well since it weighs almost 3 1/2 pounds. The piece is about 5" wide by 6.5" tall and 2.5" deep, being the larger piece made by B&H it is harder to come by. Some of the original felt is still on the bottom. In good used condition with patina and some signs of age and use. The metal looks to be a brass or bronze color with the weight of cast iron. I'm told these were cast iron pieces. The ducks/geese are solid brass whereas the log holders are cast iron. The geese have been polished however the actual log holders have been cleaned only and show signs of having been used over the years. Could easily be sanded and painted if you so choose. Approx. measurements are 15 5/8" tall. 13" wide and 18" long/deep(front to back) No marks as to maker or origin. Really a wonderful pair of antique/vintage andirons. Andirons will be dissembled for shipping however assembly is simple. This is a wonderfully ornate c. 1885 letter holder made by the quality firm of Bradley and Hubbard of Meriden. CT. The pattern reminds me of a graceful and delicate butterfly in flight, which is remarkable considering that it is made of heavy cast iron. It measures 9 1/2" wide. About 7" tall and 5 1/2" deep. There is wear to the brass finish- as you would expect from a piece 128 years old-but no dents or damage. This letter holder could easily double as an exquisite napkin holder. Measuring 6" tall x 4 3/4" wide x 2" deep. This sitting cat/kitten doorstop probably dates to the late 1800s or early 1900s. The doorstop is clearly detailed and shows appropriate patina that reveals the metal in places of wear. We are pleased to offer this highly unusual piece. It is Hubley's Puppo and Bee Still Bank SOLID BRASS 4 7/8 inches tall. Weighs 2.11 ounces Usually made in Cast Iron. It is Extremely Rare to find one in Bronze though I have located on the internet one Fido Paperweight and three sets of Bookends, usually cast in iron, which too were cast in Bronze. The Hubley Manufacturing Company's 60,000 square foot plant, located in Lancaster, PA, did both iron and bronze casting. They stopped manufacturing cast iron and bronze toys when the WWII equipment needs required his company and its metals for military use. Many of these banks and toys were given to Uncle Sam in his door to door request for nonessential metals to be donated to help the war effort manufacture military tanks and hardware. VTG MACHINE Industrial AGE umbrella cane STAND brass cast iron GERMANY unique
Machine age. Mid century modern, industrial umbrella or cane stand made of cast iron and brass. The base is an unusual shield or triangle shape. Very heavy solid decorative and unique piece. I purchased this piece at an estate sale about 10 years ago. It is marked on the bottom with a G and an E inside of the G. Below it is the number 2. At the opposite side it is marked ges.gesche which I believe means there was a German patent involved. The G may stand for the Giesserei Foundry in Germany. The rust is all surface and could easily be cleaned and painted. As you can see in the photos there is still quite a bit of the original silver metallic hammered finish remaining. A very common finish for the machine age era. One of the three circular brass rods occasionally pops out of the center sprocket but just needs to be pushed back in place. The ... morebrass is a thick 1/4" across when you measure the rod from side to side. Total height to top of the handle is 26 inches. The triangular base is approximately 8 inches across. This piece is very much in the style of Bosse. Hagenauer, Auboeck(Aubock) etc. but I am not an expert so do not know the exact age or to whom the design may be attributed. I say possibly because this item has been identified by another seller and I am still researching to authenticate. However, it is antique and it is gilded cast iron and does have the series number on the back. Early 1900's Middle Eastern design Camel with hooks for towels. Clothes, keys, leashes, belts or ties. This piece is meant to be wall mounted. See open circle at the top of the camel's saddle. Piece is heavy duty and very sturdy. Antique Vintage Cast Iron And Brass Cherub Plant Stand
A lovely antique or vintage plant stand. I think it could be late Victorian but I'm not sure. It's very old. The base has beautiful detailed work and the cherub is just adorable and the brass bowl on top is very nicely done. It's in good shape a little pitting as shone in the pictures. I think is normal wear for something this old. He measures 16 inches high and the bowl on top is just the right size for a small plant. The brass bowl measures 5 x 5 1/2 inches. Pair of Very Ornate Antique HUBLEY Brass/Bronze Cast Iron PIRATES Bookends #213
Up for auction is this pair of antique brass or bronze covered cast iron Hubley bookends. These are very ornate in the casting of 2 pirates carring shovels and a treasure chest with clouds and a very detailed ship in the background. Also detailed are some palm trees and even the g round they are carrying the treasure chest over. The faces. Hands and even the hats and clothing are very well detailed out. Both are marked 213 on the backs of the bookends. One of the bottoms has the remnants of the pad on the bottom, the other is gone due to the age. Antique Cast Iron and Brass Elevator Floor Indicator from 1920's New York City
You are bidding on a beautiful antique elevator floor indicator from New York City. The lower east side of Manhattan. This is from a building that was torn down many years ago. My grandfather was in the demolition business many years ago. This is a beautiful, all original floor indicator with pulley. It has some surface rust, the number and the arrow are all brass, and the dial is cast iron. It is 11 inches in diameter. Look at the pictures and judge for yourself.
