Offered is an exceptional Bronze Statue with green onyx base and gilded feet. There are actually 2 bronzes in these pictures. One of a god(Ganymede) on an eagle(Jupiter) and one of a goddess(Hebe) on an eagle. They are both showing up in the pictures(all except the last 2) as silver figures. Camera flashed out the very deep brown bronze that is truely what these statues look like. RARE Antique Austrian Bronze Miniature EAGLE HAWK or FALCON Bird on Onyx Dish
Here is a fine miniature antique Vienna bronze Eagle or Hawk mounted on an onyx dish. This tiny Bird of Prey is a fine Miniature Austrian bronze dating to about 1910. He is mounted to the original small white onyx stone dish. These pieces were popular in the early 1900s and were used to hold coins or jewelry. They are still useful today but over the years many of them have had the bronze figures removed so you do not often find them still intact. The bronze is an Eagle. Hawk, Falcon, or some other bird of prey with his hooked beak and wings out stretched. The details in this tiny bronze are amazing and are what makes the good old Austrian bronzes so special. The Eagle measures 1 1/4 inch tall and is 1 3/4 inch across his wings. The white onyx dish is 3 3/8 inches across and 2 1/2 inches wide with a hollow for coins in the center. It is almost ... morean inch thick. Eagles and birds of prey are not often found in art work but they have been used as a symbol of power for many years. This is a fine little piece and the bronze has a dark black/brown patina. It is in perfect condition with no damage and the onyx stone dish is also perfect with no chips or cracks. He dates from about 1890 and has fine detail in his feathers and face. This Bird of Prey is quite large at 7 inches long by 3 1/8 inches tall. The Eagle is not signed that I could find but he has most all of his original paint with only a little wear. He stands well and there are no cracks in his legs nor in his wings.
