Tray measures approx. 6" x 4" x 2" It's a great and not-often-seen piece of American History! The Russell& Erwin Co. at one time was New Britain. Connecticut's largest hardware producer, and were quite famous for their work. This piece has often been copied, but none are ever quite as good as the original! Condition: Pretty much as described at the top of the listing page. It does have some of the original red paint. But some is also worn off. It has a great patina, with a few green oxidation markings on the back and on the left elbow. Antique MAN PEDDLER BRONZE Ashtray Tobacco French Fisherman Statue Sculpture This is a wonderful antique bronze statue of what looks to be a peddler peddling his ware(fish? tobacco? Possibly made to be used as an ashtray as a cigarette will fit perfectly in the baskets with the bar holding it in. Approx. measurements are 7" tall by 7 1/4" wide. Basket to basket. Great preowned condition with some minor age appropriate wear. There is some light sand like material in the recessed areas. Possibly an early sand cast piece? No chips. Cracks or repairs. Unsigned as to maker but believed to be French in origin. Really a wonderful vintage bronze sculpture. Vintage items are a piece of history and always in style. For your consideration is an outrageous vintage figural old man with spectacles dresser dish or ashtray. This hearty piece weighs 12.8 oz and measures 5 1/2 inches by 4 1/2 inches.and a magnet does not stick to it. The detail in the face is quite impressive and there is definitely a bit of whimsy. This piece was found just as it is.there is a bit of verdigris and oxidization to sections of the metal face and dirt and dust in some of the creases of the face. Other than the spots of oxidization this figural piece is in nicely aged condition with a wonderful rich patina. I am not a specialist in this type of item but it does have a nice weight to it and a magnet does not stick to it. There are no makers marks that I could find.but considering it could use a good cleaning there may be one hidden. I'm not sure of this interesting items purpose ... morebut a change tray for a gent. An ashtray or a tray to hold someones spectacles are a few that come to mind. Please be advised that I AM NOT GOING TO CLEAN THIS ITEM.THEREFORE IT WILL BE SENT OUT AS IS.I do not want to affect the existing patina.I will leave that up to the buyer.

All I Know about this ashtray is that it is from the Modernist Period and Is signed Aubock Austria on the bottom. I assume this is Carl Aubock who produced this peice in Austria during his Hagenauer Era.

I attempt to be as accurate as possible. But odd surfaces can prove difficult sometimes as I lack a pair of calipers. I do not take apart or clean anything after listing an item. It is up to the new owner to clean silver and other metals. I am happy to ship overseas. But be aware of your country's customs laws. This 100% bronze piece was designed using the lost wax method. It bears the signature Milo. The Art of Lost Wax. Lost wax casting has been around for thousands of years. Yet few people understand how the process actually works. Although mechanization has facilitated the lost wax process of bronze casting. ... moreThe procedure is basically the same as that used by the Chinese when they first developed the process in the 2nd millennium BC. The Rubber Mold. First the artist creates an original sculpture out of any number of media. Including stone, wax, clay, wood and pottery. This image is coated with a silicone rubber molding material that makes two rubber mold halves(each rubber mold has a front and a back piece) A fiberglass outer shell is added to the back of each mold so it retains its shape and rigidity during subsequent uses. The bear sculpture is approx. 2 1/2" tall and approx. 3 1/4" from head to tail. The bear is a deep gray color and I am not certain what metal it is sculpted from. Very beautiful ashtray decorated with a cold painted Vienna bronze Scottish Terrier dog standing on a green onyx base. The quality and workmanship on the black Scottie is excellent and with its original cold paint; the dog looks almost real. The bronze is very well made with fine detail on the hair. Face and overall form. The bronze is signed Austria underneath the stomach and the overall condition of the bronze is great with some minor ware on the cold paint which is common in older Austrian/ Vienna bronzes. Up for auction is this vintage Silver Crest ashtray with match box holder. The piece is one of the many items I will be selling from a large collection of Heintz Metal Art. Silver Crest and other bronze with silver overlay items. This collection was housed in a beach house for many years and the salt air has caused a green oxidation to the patina in some areas as well as pitting to the metal in some cases. All of the pieces are being sold as found. I will do my best to point out the damages in the description and photos. The ashtray, measuring 6 1/2“ wide by 3 1/4“ high, is decorated with a silver overlay on the front and back of the match box holder. It has two holders for cigars or cigarettes. It has a glass line. Antique, Bronze Art Nouveau Ashtray Candy Dish
You are bidding on an antique metal tray. I believe it is bronze and copper. But can't be sure. I really don't know what it was intended for. But I have used it as an ashtray, soap, candy dish and even a paper weight that holds paper clips. The sky is the limit with this unusual piece. The woman is resting beneath a feather fan wearing a long gown. This tray weights in at a whopping 1lb. It is very solid and appears to have a high copper content. Measures about 7" X 5 1/2" about 1/2" deep.

vintage bronze clad ashtray, Setter, dog, circa 1930s, matching bookends
Prior to 1914 just about all high-end sculptural artwork was solid bronze. About that time a company called Kathodian Bronze Works began manufacturing small sculptural artwork such as bookends(back then they were called“book rocks” and statuary using a process imported from Europe around the turn of the century known as electroplating or electroforming. About the same time a company called National Metalizing Company also began making this statuary. Calling the finish"Armor Bronze" After WWI the assets of this Armor Bronze division were spun off as a new entity- The Armor Bronze Company of New York City. A third high-end bronze clad manufacturer called their finish“Galvano Bronze” a term coined by and Italian emigrant in New York named Mori. The name was in honor honor of Luigi Galvini. A noted Italian for whom the term“galvanized” ... moreis named. By the end of the Roaring Twenties manufactures such as Pompeian Bronze. Galvano Bronze and Kathodian Bronze were gone. The Great Depression swallowed-up most of the“bronze clad” artisans– as the process was deemed to be too expensive and time consuming. Armor Bronze and Marion Bronze were the only two makers left after 1930. Offered here is a very uncommon bronze clad ashtray with the elusive glass insert. It is in great condition. And I have the matching bronze clad bookends that goes with it- they will be listed separately. Bronze clad no breaks in the cladding- often the metal under the glass insert is damaged but not the case with this one. Patina is great This coin/ashtray and/or the bookend set is rarely seen. See photos for condition. Original felt I have included two photos of the matching bookends and a smaller Armor Bronze bookend of the same design. Note the difference is sizes of the bases. I am going to speculate that this is by Marion Bronze. I have seen similar presentations of the name(on the base) on other Marion Bronze sets Circa post-1930 The coin tray is about 5-1/2 inches tall and 8-1/2 inches deep.
