A wonderful and highly decorative desk or counter bell. Unusual with a folding clapper to the side rather than the ones you ring from the top. The bell is rung by using the clapper itself and when released, gives a clear and authoritative ring. The clapper is made to fold up underneath the bell for travel. A true Victorian example, the bell remains in superb condition having been professionally re-polished to gleam, and working perfectly. Lovely fancy antique(middle to late 1800's) brass desk set. Made by Julius Hammesfanr. Solingen, Germany. Consists of scissors and letter opener in a heavy brass sheath that is an extensively ornate floral design in raised relief. Sheath measures 7" in length. Scissors measure 10 1/2" in length, and letter opener measures 9 3/4" in length. There is some rust at the ends of the scissors and end of letter opener. The set is marked with the maker and Germany.

Antique Brass Magnifier on Stand, Stamps, Jewelry, Desk Accessory
You are bidding on an antique brass magnifier which I believe was primarily used by stamp collectors. However. It can also be used for closely viewing jewelry, counting stitches, or perhaps simply as a unique desk accessory. It stands 6-3/4" tall when the arm is standing straight up, and it stands approximately 3" tall when the arm is at a 90 degree angle. There are very few signs of wear on the brass, the arm is fully adjustable and works perfectly, and the lens is undamaged. The lens is approximately 1-5/8" in diameter. It, too, is adjustable. Purchased at an estate Auction. This is a Jennings Brothers Letter Holder and Ink Blotter from a Desk Set. They are in good condition. Minor dings commensurate with age. The Blotter is marked 1860. I would have to take the letter opener apart to read the numbers and did not. I have seen this pattern called French Napoleon and Sunflower Pattern. The blotter includes the arched plate that holds the blotter paper.

Both sides identical. Center has handle at top a same detail. Footed. Handles bottom bears an"X" and two"0"s" on the underside. Condition is excellent. Has some spots of surface wear on tray area but nothing that detracts. Again. This is antique style, it is not a 100 year old example-see five of six screws on bottom. It is as heavy and as well made as any of the older ones I have seen and the detail is just as good, if not better. It is vintage for sure but not antique.
