The piece stands 73 1/2" tall. 40 1/2" wide, and 19 1/2" deep. The piece has a fantastic flat top along with a shell carved lower drawer, cabrio legs and all four Queen Anne pad feet. We are unsure of the manufacturer as there are no markings however the top chest slides neatly into the bottom chest and has a combined total of 11 drawers. It is in overall great condition however we do believe that the hardware has been replaced as well as a possible resurface and is likely a marriage upon very close inspection but works quite well. Noted and shown there is a separation to the lower section on either side. It came to us from a prominent estate and the previous owner made sure to note that their original purchase price was $11,500. A fresh find ready to grace your space! American 18th Century New England Tiger Maple Chest of Drawers, c. 1780-1810

Description: This listing is for a Federal Period Tiger Maple Four Drawer Bachelors Chest of Drawers. New England States circa 1780-1810. It features incredibly broad fully solid single boards making up the top and both sides- this is exceedingly rare in Tiger Maple, as that figure is difficult to capture in broad boards. The top is carefully molded of the solid, projecting out over the four graduated drawers. Each drawer is hand dovetailed front and back, constructed of pine secondary woods for the frame and bottom, the bottom chamfered along the edges to rabbet into the frame. They are nailed at the back, while also having sporadic original rose head iron nails through the dovetails- notes about the bottom drawer are further ... morediscussed in the notes below. The drawers feature period. But not original, bail pulls with original locks. The drawers are separated by drawer dividers that through dovetail at the sides with notched dovetails. The back of the case is cut of two heavily oxidized original solid oak boards, mitered where they meet to hide light as they shrink and expand. These are secured to the case with numerous original nails, but also have many modern nails as well. The top is mitered to allow the top of the chest to slide onto the dovetailed sides of the case, which allows the top to expand and shrink without extensive cracking; this is critical to preserve these precious solid boards. The case rests over original scroll cut bracket feet. Dovetailed along the sides of the front feet for incredible strength. Each foot is braced with what we believe to be fully original blocking, each with heavy hand carving and chiseling visible from the inside. This is a simply stunning bachelors chest. This is a superb example of the New Hampshire side of the North Shore American furniture movement. It stands right out with masterfully turned columns. Graceful aprons on its front and sides, doublewave formed back gallery and original period pulls. This dresser has dovetailed pine plank base construction with lovely deeply chamfered pine drawer panels and back panels. Its finish is untouched and overall very nice. The case has cock bead molding around all its drawer openings. We received it less one brass rosette accouterment to the gallery. We are having that fabricated and you will ... moreget that as a condition of sale with this piece. We are processing several estates as fast as possible while we attend to servicing our customers with shipments pending. We suspect one famed shop in particular but their works in maple and mahogany are better known and the medium of the construction of this chest. These aprons are almost a dead certain glaring clue. Settling that question with finality will force us to obtain research data at a Connecticut University which we do not have time to do right now. Original brass, superior form having ... moretotally dovetailed joined case so precise that there was never a drop of glue used to join the case. Each of the cases' sides are all made out of entirely single plank now virtually extinct old growth curly maple planks. Its crown molding is just so proportionally wonderful in scale with its upper and lower cases. Its base case one frame with center cut out decoration is 38 1/4" long, 19 3/4" wide and 38 1/2" tall. The upper case is 36" long, 18 3/4" wide and 40 1/2" tall being 40" long and 20 3/4" wide at its crown moldings. We note some loss to the lowest drawers thumb molding and some small edge crown molding loss. Its in outstanding condition with very rare old growth red ceder secondary woods and a double base drawer with a faux drawer transition. The top case has 5 graduated drawers and the lower case has three graduated drawers. This highboys stands at a commanding 78 1/2" tall overall. EXCEPTIONAL MAPLE 18TH CENTURY CHIPPENDALE NEW HAMPSHIRE FAN CARVED BANDY LEG CHEST OF DRAWERS With our compliments we are delighted to offer you this very rare 18th Century maple New Hampshire Chippendale period fan carved bandy footed chest in a 3 over 2 drawer format with a overhung top and dovetailed joined case. Bandy legged Chippendale period chests are very scarce finds. Counting this one we have seen a total of three specimens come out of New England estates during the last year. Each has realized prices much greater than the modest price we are offering this one for.The entire lower case is finished with an original amber to light reddish paint finish. The top appears to have been redone several decades ago. It is a most flattering and professional restoration with attention to detail not obvious to an untrained eye. This chest is adorned by wonderful period American Chippendale brasses as opposed to the English brasses which were almost exclusively found on all these period chests. The furniture makers& joiners indigenous to lower Central New Hampshire/Northern Massachusetts were far away from the major trade ports of New Hampshire and the North Shore of Massachusetts. They were compelled to employ the wooden knobs they made for their case pieces. This chest shows very good evidence of these period brasses being installed shortly after its crafting and logically by the family who commissioned it as Chippendale brasses became vogue and more readily obtainable. The chest is further defined by a molded top and drawer facings and fabulous oxidation of the native New England pine secondary woods. It measures 41" long. 21" wide(deep) and it stands 36" tall. Antique 18th Century Figured Tiger Maple Chest on Chest Highboy Queen Anne
Description: We are pleased to offer a stunning figured tiger maple chest on chest 4/3 top highboy dating to the eighteenth century in a deep mahogany with astonishing dove tail construction throughout. The piece stands 73 1/2" tall. 40 1/2" wide, and 19 1/2" deep. The piece has a fantastic flat top along with a shell carved lower drawer, cabrio legs and all four Queen Anne pad feet. We are unsure of the manufacturer as there are no markings however the top chest slides neatly into the bottom chest and has a combined total of 11 drawers. It is in overall great condition however we do believe that the hardware has been replaced as well as a possible resurface and is likely a marriage upon very close inspection but works quite well.
