Description: We are pleased to offer a stunning figured tiger maple chest on chest 4/3 top highboy dating to the eighteenth century in a deep mahogany ... morewith astonishing dove tail construction throughout. The piece stands 73 1/2" tall. 40 1/2" wide, and 19 1/2" deep. The piece has a fantastic flat top along with a shell carved lower drawer, cabrio legs and all four Queen Anne pad feet. We are unsure of the manufacturer as there are no markings however the top chest slides neatly into the bottom chest and has a combined total of 11 drawers. It is in overall great condition however we do believe that the hardware has been replaced as well as a possible resurface and is likely a marriage upon very close inspection but works quite well. Noted and shown there is a separation to the lower section on either side. It came to us from a prominent estate and the previous owner made sure to note that their original purchase price was $11,500. A fresh find ready to grace your space! Payment: Preferred payment method is PayPal however we are willing to accept other forms upon request. Payment for“Buy It Now” items is expected immediately. Shipping: Due to the size. Weight, and fragility of this piece we are not offering shipping. This item can be picked up locally or we are more than happy to work with you and schedule availability with your shipping provider. We do have a loading dock that is easy for large trucks to access and suggest using U-Ship as we have dealt with them in the past and the prices and services are fair. About Us: We are a New England company based in Rhode Island and have been working to transition from the traditional brick and mortar into the age of technology. We work mainly on the acquisition and liquidation of estates of all sorts. The majority of the items offered is acquired from New England estates and may vary from jewelry to china or artwork and even electronics on occasion. It is a gorgeous antique chest of drawers crafted of solid walnut featuring a rectangle top crowned in a deep flaring cornice with three small drawers over a gallery of five graduated drawers flanked by fluted quarter-round columns on each corner, resting over original scroll cut ogee bracket feet. The top is dovetailed to the case behind the surrounding crown molding. The case sides are crafted of two solid walnut boards. Each with wonderful tight grains. Each of the three smaller drawers slide easily over full length dust boards, protecting the contents beneath them from saw dust and dirt as they move in and out. Some strengthening has been done ... moreto the interior around these drawers, several boards added to strengthen the structure- these additions have not resulted in any alteration of the case and can easily be reversed at a later date if desired. The five stacked graduated drawers are solid poplar with dovetail construction. Each with chamfered bottoms that rabbet into the sides with nailed back ends(some tacks along the back edge modern) Bail pull brass hardware and plain brass keyhole escutcheons line the face of the drawers. The back of the case is constructed of solid hand planed edge boards secured vertically to the case, these nailed in place with hand forged iron nails supplemented by scattered modern nails. The case dovetails into the bottom board, each hidden with the only evidence of hidden dovetails found in the score marks in the corners inside. Each foot is original, with curving and flowing ogee form supported by replaced interior blocking(note the variation in oxidization suggesting much thicker secondary blocking) The back feet supports dovetail to the back feet. The attention to detail in every single aspect of this chest is typical of early American Pennsylvania craftsmanship. A fine selection

American Queen Anne Cherry Highboy Antique Chest of Drawers, Connecticut 1740-80
Fine American Queen Anne Cherry Flat-Top Highboy. Connecticut c. 1740-80 Probably the area of Wethersfield. Connecticut; exhibiting Pinwheel& Sunburst drawers, the apron centrally serpentine over pad feet American Black Cherry Primaries; Tulip Poplar secondary woods Item# 130508QJB12 With a molded cornice projecting boldly over the pair of stacked drawers on either side flanking a square drawer with a spinning pinwheel decoration. The case exudes presence while exhibiting wonderful proportions at only 71 1/8" high. The pinwheel decoration is of inordinate fine quality, the tight rays graduating as they swell outward, these given a third dimension with the impression at the end of each ray; the effect creates a tubular shape, almost suggesting that these pipes swell from beneath the surface of the drawer. A pitch substance was rubbed ... moreinto these recesses to create the ebonized effect within the carvings. Each drawer in the top and base are crafted with poplar sides and bottoms, these deeply chamfered along the bottoms and sliding into the rabbeted sides. All drawer retain untouched original hardware. The drawer blades dividing each drawer join the sides of the case in tiny dovetails. Three horizontal backboards retain their untouched rosehead nails, the only change in two hundred and fifty years being the addition of three modern nails to the top edge of the top board for stability. The back of the Pinwheel decorated drawer is inscribed illegibly in chalk. Possibly noting" M_ certify that ma_ rg_ see image below. The base is constructed with pinned tenon-mortise joinery. Securing permanently the sides and front into the square legs; likewise, the single horizontal backboard joins into the legs and is secured with wooden pins from the back. The chest experienced some pest problems at some point early in it's life, with evidence of mouse chewing throughout the drawer bottoms and sides throughout the chest; as a result, pieces of the drawers are replaced where the damage was probably too ex
Circa 1760 Colonial American Highboy.
I inherited this American highboy from my mother. It is a married piece. The hardware on the base is not original to the bottom drawer. There is some damage to two of the feet as can be seen by the photos. I was told after sending a wealth of photos to an auction house in the NE that it would fetch 1200-2500 at an auction in it's current state. I am simply selling this because I do not want to fret over antique& to raise money one a business venture creating ADHD friendly iBooks for children. The date is based on what my mom told me. Fine American Chippendale Walnut Highboy Antique Tall Chest of Drawers, PA c1790
AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE WALNUT CHEST OF DRAWERS OVER OGEE FEET Pennsylvania c. 1790 Item# 410QNP11W A bold and impressive object. This fine American Chippendale Tall Chest of Drawers originates in southeastern Pennsylvania, possibly the Delaware River Valley. The craftsmanship is impeccable, the cabinetmaker choosing vivid walnut planks carefully to showcase the most important and striking aspects of the chest. Note in particular the wonderful flowing grains along the sides of the case, the overall horizontal flow of the grain along the front of the drawers lapsing in random swirls and burls of the plank. The case is crested by cove molding projecting over three small drawers, two medium drawers and four broad drawers- all carefully graduated to flow harmoniously together. Noteworthy are the two drawers with patches, not unusual for these cases ... morewith overhanging lips on the drawers- these are particularly susceptible to being damaged when a drawer is closed unevenly or too harshly, as is probably the case with one or both of these drawers. The repairs were done rather competently, the restorer having to carefully choose boards with at least as much figure as the neighboring parts of the drawers. The drawers are embellished with replaced pierced brass hardware. The frames handsomely dovetailed white pine with integral runners mitered to accept the chamfered white pine bottom, mostly crafted of a single huge plank of pine, this tacked along the back edge with iron nails. The drawers are flanked by fluted corinthian columns with turned caps and bases, the whole case resting over very striking and significant ogival feet. They project an unusual sense of strength and masculinity, each with soft scroll cut returns and resting over thin blades. The back of the case shows the simple and tidy construction we expect from the best craftsmen of this region, the triangular rear foot supports dovetailed into the facings for a permanent joint. This is a very fine case. Crafted with utmost precision and care and retaining an ex
Antique 18th Century Walnut Queen Anne Highboy Chest of Drawers 1725-1750
Description Fine 18th century highboy with beautiful burl walnut veneer and cabriole legs ending in club feet. Made in New England. Torus molding below the cornice is the front to a hidden drawer. This is an earlier highboy and was made circa in 1725-1750. Provenance: Northeast Auctions. Portsmouth, NH. Dimensions 69 inches high. 22 inches wide, and about 18.5 inches deep. 69x22x38 Condition The condition of the highboy is very good for its age. It is structurally sound with nice color. The are some places where small amounts of the veneer is missing(see photos) But this is normal for a pieces of this age and I don't believe it takes away from its appearance. Also, the molding on the left side of the upper right small drawer is missing. I have just ignored this, but if it bothers you it would be an easy fix. The drawers all open, but ... moresome stick a little at times. Finally, the highboy is married-i.e. the top and bottom were not originally associated. Pick-up and Shipping You can pick up the highboy or arrange to have it shipped to you. We live about 25 minutes northwest of Springfield. MA. IMPORTANT 18TH CENTURY QUEEN ANNE MASSACHUSETTS BONNET TOP MAHOGANY HIGHBOY-BEST
IMPORTANT 18TH CENTURY MASSACHUSETTS QUEEN ANNE PERIOD DOUBLE SHELL CARVED MAHOGANY HIGHBOY Bay Colony Antiques takes the the utmost pleasure in offering you this remarkable two piece 18th Century Queen Anne Period Mahogany Highboy with fully formed Bonnet Top. Broken arch pediment, triple finial, double shell carved case on the most gracefully formed legs and pad feet. This is the American masterpiece without exception. Our senior staff are in a heated debate on attributing to Boston or the Massachusetts North Shore(Salem) over the vertical styles on the base case. We solidly attributed this to Massachusetts in the late Queen Anne period at the cusp of the Chippendale furniture movement of the last half of the 18th century. We note remnants of paper label and have not had a chance to black light it yet but a faint signature in a drawer panel. ... moreIt has an entirely dovetailed joined case and one of the best formed full bonnets we have noted in a very long time with carved rosettes adorning the pediment. The finish is absolutely fabulous and original and it is embellished with the finest period brasses. We are certain the top chest matches the base frame and other than some typical maintenance to pine secondary panels(drawers) and possibly one back panel board on the back of the chest. We say"possibly" with great trepidation as we are not certain. If there was a replacement its at least a century old when the rest of the maintenance work was done. Its back panels are fastened with very nice rose head nails and frankly all toll these do not get any finer. We have brought some of the very finest 18th Century Highboys to market in the United States over the last few years and this is something of our ongoing experiment if this sales platform is mature enough for this caliber of material. We are very proud to put our name of this fabulous Highboy. We keep pushing the limits and we are meeting absolutely wonderful people right here. Whether it be Live Auctioneers, Invaluable, First Dibs, etc, etc, why not here?
