When you see this realistic 100% real bronze sculpture seemingly"crawl" through your garden. It just might send you scurrying! Since"beauty is in the details, our high-quality garden sculpture is sure to bring your home and garden alive with its realism. Our weighty creature adds whimsy as true art for the garden and is signed by artist Marius. The Art of Lost Wax. Lost wax casting has been around for thousands of years. Yet few people understand how the process actually works. Although mechanization has facilitated the lost wax process of bronze casting. This image is coated with a silicone rubber molding material that makes two rubber mold halves(each rubber mold has a front and a back piece) A fiberglass outer shell is added to the back of each mold so it retains its shape and rigidity during subsequent uses. These molds are the only components that are ever re-used in the casting process. All other components are re-created for each casting. The Wax Positive. Once the molds are done. The insides are coated with layers of wax. The halves are then bound together and wax poured inside to complete the wax image being created. Once the wax has cooled. The mold is peeled away, yielding a wax image(the wax positive" duplicating the original sculpture. This image must then be"touched-up" to remove any seam lines. Scratches or other flaws, as well as to recreate any pattern or texturing that was lost or damaged when the wax wa

His father was a wealthy merchant who often went on trading journeys to distant lands. In 1271. When Marco was seventeen years old, he accompanied his father and uncle on a journey through the Holy Land, Persia and Tartary, and at length to the Empire of China-then called Cathay. It took the travelers three years to reach Cathay. The emperor of Cathay was a monarch named Kublai Khan, who lived in Peking. Marco's father and uncle had been in ... moreCathay once before and had entertained Kublai Khan by telling him about the manners and customs of Europe. So when the two Venetian merchants again appeared in Peking, Kublai Khan was glad to see them. He was also greatly pleased with the young Marco, whom he invited to the palace. Important positions at the Chinese court were given to Marco's father and uncle, and so they and Marco lived in the country for some years. Marco studied the Chinese language, and it was not very long before he could speak it. When he was about twenty-one Kublai Khan sent him on very important business to a distant part of China. He did the work well and from that time was often employed as an envoy of the Chinese monarch. His travels were sometimes in lands never before visited by Europeans and he had many strange adventures among the almost unknown tribes of Asia. Step by step he was promoted. For several years he was governor of a great Chinese city. This sculpture was cast using the"Lost Wax Method" and is 100% bronze. This sculpture is signed by the artist Thomas. It has a gorgeous dark brown patina. This important and well known sculpture would look excellent on. Book shelves, or de

These are compiled as a labor of love and as an attempt to get the best quality items into the most appreciative hands. For the sake of accuracy. Weight is posted to the nearest gram but occasionally, if very heavy, in ounces. Weight is always the total weight of the object and may or may not give a good idea of the scrap value as I do not guess the weight of wood. Mirrors, screws, bolts, or anything that may not be silver or gold. I do not take apart or clean anything after listing an item. It is up to the new owner to clean silver ... moreand other metals. My scale computes to the nearest gram and it has been tested and calibrated. A note to silver scrappers: There are those on Ebay who will claim that the weight of an object is less than advertised and demand a rebate after the auction has ended. This is an ongoing trend and these individuals seem to complain if silver prices go down between the day they buy and the day they receive. When one melts silver one can lose as much as 5% of the weight in the smelting process and I can not be held responsible for weight lost after melting. I do not generally melt anything that is well made as it makes little sense to me. So any potential loss should be considered before purchasing my items. All my items are measured with a standard tape measure and are rounded off to the quarter inch. I attempt to be as accurate as possible. But odd surfaces can prove difficult sometimes as I lack a pair of calipers. With over a thousand items in my store. Errors do occur, albeit infrequently. I'm not perfect, contrary to popular opinion. If there is any issue, please contact me first. Good feedback helps keep the cost of selling to a minimum, thus helping us both. I'd hate to

Approximately: Length: 4" Height: 2" Width: 2" Weight: 14 oz(or ~ 396 grams) Please. Check pictures for details. Franz Xaver Bergman(or Franz Xaver Bergmann) 1861–1936) was the owner of a Viennese foundry who produced numerous patinated and cold-painted bronze Oriental. Erotic and animal figures, the latter often humanized or whimsical, humorous objects d'art. Noted for his detailed and colorful work, and usually signed with the word: Geschutzt" His father Franz Bergmann was a professional chaser from Gablonz/Bohemia who came to Vienna and founded a small bronze factory in 1860. His son Franz Xaver Bergmann(1861– 1936) inherited the company ... moreand opened a new foundry in 1900. Many of the bronzes from the 1900s were still based on designs from his fathers workshop. He was not a sculptor himself as often described wrongfully. There were many anonymous sculptors. Hired temporarily by the workshops. At the turn of the 19th/20th Century there were about fifty workshops producing Vienna Bronzes. Cold painted bronze' refers to pieces cast in Vienna and then decorated in several layers with so called dust paint; the know-how for the mix of this kind of paint has been lost. The color was not fired hence"cold painted" The painting was carried out mainly by women working at home. A typical cottage industry.

ANTIQUE COLD PAINTED Vienna-Style Japanese BRONZE Scotty Terrier DOG Figurine NR
Up for auction I have a cute little miniature scotty dog or some type of terrier in the cold painted bronze Vienna- style. This little guy. However, was made in Japan, as embossed on his underside. I cannot make out what the maker's mark inside of the diamond shape says. This piece is about two inches long. I can get better measurements if needed. I assume it is bronze, but it could be a different metal, I am not entirely knowledgeable about types of metal. There is a loop on the dog's collar which may have held a leash or something. There is an unusual hole in the dog's mouth. Where he must have held something, or perhaps where he is meant to hold something(almost the size of a pencil or cigarette) Some paint is flaking off, as is usual for an old piece like this. This little guy is cute. Cute, cute! Any questions, let me know. ... moreThanks and Happy Bidding!
