Oakeley Square appears to the left of the town as does Moelwyn Mills(Woolen) which went under during the inter war depression. Andrees Allgemeiner Handatlas was a major cartographic work published in several German and foreign editions 1881-1937. It was named after Richard Andree(1835-1912) and published by Velhagen& Klasing, Bielefeld and Leipzig, Germany. By using chromolithography, rather than copper plate engraving, but reproducing the maps from zinc plates that were etched in relief(just like letterpress printing) V& K was able to offer detailed maps at a much lower price than competing works, such as the 7th and 8th editions of Stielers Handatlas. Old Map For Bute Docks Cardiff 1888 - Taff Vale Railway, Bute Gas Works
Here we have an old map of Bute Docks Cardiff. It is dated 1888. Though I suspect this may have been produced later than that, as there are references and indications on the plans for the Great Western Railway which only came into being at the Grouping in 1923. There are four points of Reference to the bottom left corner(these are colour-coded individually on the map) Taff Vale Railway, Property Included In Amalgamation, Property Of Which Taff Vale Railway Company Are To have a 1/4 Interest, Property Included In Proposed Amalgamation Of 1884. There is also a large area for the Site Of New Steel Works. Also shown on the map are The Rhymney Railway, LNWR. I would grade the overall condition as good used. With some loss to the top right corner and a couple of tears along the folds. Couple of other marks and some general wear consumerate with ... moreage, see photos. It has been produced on quite thinnish paper and I'm sure it will be of interest to someone.
