The item being offered here is a stunning vintage black beaded evening handbag. This looks like it is from the 1940's era or there abouts. It is completely covered in very tiny black jet( seed beads. Even the handle is fully beaded! I believe the side panels are bakelite. It has a black satin lining with a pocket on both sides and a zippered section in the center. There is a lipstick pocket as well. There is a little 2" round mirror in one of the pockets. The bag measures 6 1/4" high and 6 1/2" wide. It is 2 1/2" across the top and 4" wide across the bottom. The handle is 11 3/4" from end-to-end and 7/8" wide. There is a secure fastener on the top and the hinges on the bottom are tight and secure. It's a very stunning little evening handbag! Up for sale is an Authentic Vintage Bakelite Egg Yolk Yellow Graduated Beaded Necklace. It is approximately 16" laid end to end with the biggest bead being about 3/4" around. 33 total beads with a screw clasp on the end. All beads are still in Very Good condition as is the string its strung on. No chips or damage to any of the beads. Only the typical slight color variations in the beads that only true bakelite has. As there is SO MUCH Fakelite out there I can assure you this is REAL Bakelite. No swirls or molding lines like you find on molded plastics. The button earrings are screw back and measure 1" across. The coil bracelet uncoils to almost 12" The necklace has had a 3 1/2" extention added to it and it is a different color metal- I would have found a better match but leave that up to you. The beaded section measures 10 1/2" and is more then enough to go around the front and side of most necks. This uniquely shaped bag is completely beaded. It has turquoise. Navy, black, green and white beads. The shapes seem to be an"H" but it is also sideways so I'm not sure if its anything other than just a geometrical design. Please pay attention to the bottom edge of the bag. Its very unusual. The handle could be bakelite or celluloid. The closure works perfectly and the bag is in good working order although beads do fall from the strap each easily. I am keeping it in a plastic storage bag to catch any falling beads. The bag measures 9.5" from the closure to the bottom and is 8" wide at the widest part. The bag is opened by pushing down on the top knob. The inside lining is missing but the trim around the lining is still there so it would be very easy to repair. This purse is a fantastic mid-century work of art. The glass beads are heavy. And a charcoal black color that shimmers. The front catch is a round metal button covered with glass beads- it works similar to the way a typical purse catch would work. The purse opens like an accordion and can truly hold a lot for such a small purse. The interior has three sections. Plus 1 additional section within each of those. The front and center section both have a pocket inside, and the back section has a zippered compartment. This wonderful deco bag would make an eye catching display item in a closet. It sits and hangs nicely when it is filled. It has a nice heavily beaded doubled handle that is twisted. The butterscotch bakelite accordion section of the purse is connected with a total of 18 brass knobs and one connecting bakelite piece. Made in France it is called a Houppette Pli.Made to hold powder in the shaft with a retractable swansdown puff. The casing is made from a black Bakelite or Celluloid type material. Vintage Butterscotch Bakelite Test+ Petite Beaded Choker Necklace 17" Adjustable
Measures 17 inches long with a 4&1/4 inch adjustable chain capped with a bead. So it fits 13 to 17 inch neck. The three largest beads at center are 1/2 an inch wide. The smaller are 3/8ths and the smallest a 1/4 inch. The beads are strung with gorgeous brass spacer beads. Everything is tight and solid and well strung. No chips. No scratches and nothing repaired. Vintage Bakelite beaded handbag purse. Made from molded Bakelite. The shape is almost triangular. It opens and closes on the top with ball like brass snap closure. The fittings/ hardware are brass colored. They have minor superficial surface scratches. There is one circle each on the front and back. In the circles are fitted circular micro beaded motif. The beads are multicolored. The motif are movable. The glue that once held them in place have worn. The handle is made from similar beaded fabric as the motif. The inside is lined with brown satin like fabric. There is a zippered change section. There is slight separation of the thread in that section. The length of the bag is 11" including the handle. Outside of purse is a floral cotton fabric. Flowers colors are royal blue and pinkish rose highlighted in hunter green leaves. Background color is a off white cream. Small white beads snake through both sides of the bag. No damage to any bead work. Slight discoloration to fabric due to age. No rips to outside of bag. Inside of bag is done in a heavy dark blue silk with one pocket along the back inside of bag. Pocket is deep enough to carry one lipstick. Fabric inside of bag has no rips.
