This is just Gorgeous.workmanship from a time long ago.the center medal depicts Virgin Mary on the front and The Sacred Heart of Jesus on the reverse. The War Department issued brass silver washed rosaries to any Catholic soldier who requested one. Likewise, if a Catholic Chaplain requested a special sterling silver version of the enlisted style rosary, the Priest was given one. Because there were far fewer Chaplains than enlisted men, and given the fact that not all requested the silver rosary, there were far fewer of these special ones from the beginning. Over time. The Chaplains who possessed the silver rosaries often gave them away to soldiers under extraordinary circumstances, when giving one of the regular ones wasn't feasible. Some were lost, others confiscated by enemy captors; the already rare silver ball chain rosaries became ... moreever scarcer. Today it is nearly impossible to find one of these Sterling Silver ball chain rosaries. Many collectors know about them but have never seen one. luckier collectors might see or possess only one. This auction is for a beautiful vintage rosary that features satiny pink, almost moonstone? looking teardop shaped beads with silver metal links, an ornate silver cross crucifix marked Sterling, and ... morea round silver medallion with an open work edge near the bottom which is also marked Sterling. I counted approx 59 beads. This rosary seems a little longer than the others I have listed. It's a little difficult to get an exact measurement but when stretched out it would be about 24 1/2" long not including the crucifix at the end which alone is about 1 3/4" long. I'm not positive what the beads are made of-they are smooth, unfaceted, and are not cold to the touch so I don't know if they're some kind of plastic or lucite? or something else. Each bead measures more than 1/4" long. There's a little link that's different than the rest on the chain near the cross as you can clearly see in my photos-you're getting this item exactly as I did. I'm not Catholic so I don't know what significance, if any, this has. I know nothing about the history, origin, or exact age. I just obtained it from an estate sale in this simple, old leather pouch with snap which is marked or embossed Roma on the flap. Antique/ Vintage Catholic Rosary- with Aquamarine Blue Glass Beads This is definitely not your average rosary! The elegance and quality is something that you have to see and feel! My pictures certainly don't do it justice. I think it was made by Ajax. Ajax always made the nicest rosaries. But sadly they went out of business in the 1950's. In addition to being so gorgeous, it also seems to be exceptionally well made. The rosary has quite a heavy feel to it. It weighs in at 48 grams on my jewelry scale. Its 23 1/2" in length. And is quite large. The 7mm beads are made of multifaceted aqua blue glass. There is gorgeous silver metalwork covering 1/2 of each bead. The metal parts are all silver finish. The center medal is an oval shape of Our Lady of Sorrows on the front. And the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the back. The 2" Crucifix ... moreis made in 2 pieces like the good ones used to be. The figure of Our Lord is made separately from the Cross. Then attached. The silver plating on the cross is still nice and shiny. Its in nice condition. The word Roma is written in handwritten script rather than block letters. The beads are oval and round, the round ones have silver bead caps, the center has Mary on one side and Christ on the other. Laid flat it measures 19.5" and it is in good antique condition but is missing one bead and there is some age related patina& oxidation in the crevices on the cross and center. Handmade and Estate, Antique Rosary, with lot of crosses
These two rosarys are absolutely beautiful. The anique rosary has amber hue crystal beads with brass filgree casing and nice 2 1/2" crusifix cross and is 20" long. Very old. The blue rosary is handmade with beautiful colbolt blue czech beads and blue and white French beads with 1 3/4" lacey Mother of Pearl Cross. Also has crystal quarts chips between the beads. I strung this rosary with artifical sinew which is extremely strong and fluid. I made this piece over 20 years ago and still looks new. I just added sterling silver Mother Mary with Child. Onyx cross, faux turquoise and metal crosses.

Pink multi-cut beads, a couple with caps, two medallions first one of Mary marked sterling on back, the other I believe is St. Benedict, the cross is marked sterling on the back. The rosary is heavy and well made. I got this from a California estate and the older women said it was her mothers rosary. It is in very good used condition, Jesus feet have come off the cross and the cross has a slight bow(I think someone could straighten it easily) All beads are in excellent condition.
