RARE 12th century OAK Timber Wood from St Magunus Cathedral GOBLET COLLECTABLE
Amazing piece of history. For auction I have a rare piece of Oak from 1137 AD that has been turned into a wooden chalice/goblet. The underside has an inscription in pen that says: Oak from Timber used in building of St Magnus Cathedral 1137 by Earl Ragnvald. I have enquired into this at the cathedral and apparently wood was reused when being replaced. Cathedral is in I would like this item to go to someone who will appreciate its age and the history associated with it. There is a split in the side as shown in the photo. I think this is due to age and the fact the wood is so old. Please check out my other auctions for lots other designer and unusual clothes. Thanks for looking.

The Settle is in good overall but used condition and is ready to place in the setting of your choice, It dates from the 18th Century is a neat compact size measuring 5ft wide. It has 4 fielded panels to the back and open down scroll arms, the seat is upholstered in black vinyl with studded detail, the settle stands on semi-cabriole front legs and square back legs with corner brackets. Condition The Settle is 100% sound. There are also some additional iron nails to one side and one corner edge of the top has an old repair evident. The stool remains in original condition throughout. All original stretchers and none of the feet have been tipped or spliced. Yew wood is extremely resistant to worm and rot and all the feet remain in good order. All peg joints are untouched and the stool is very sturdy with no play or movement to the joints. The whole piece has the most wonderful cololur and patination. With triple paneled back with intricate work along top freeze. The quality of the carving throughout would appear to be by the same hand. There are benches and then there are benches. And then there is the bench. And it's a cracker. One of the nicest oak benches we've seen in a long time with just fabulous colour and patination. Just shy of six feet long. The 2 1/4" thick slab of oak stands over splayed and chamfered legs. The wear to the edges along the edges of the bench were many many pairs of legs have rubbed against it over the last two hundred and thirty years or so is a lovely feature. The A frame supporting stretchers to the legs are a later feature. This is a very solid and sturdy(and heavy) 18th century oak bench and we just love it. ANTIQUE PILGRIM CENTURY ENGLISH OAK JOINT STOOL WITH BEAUTIFUL MOLDED APRON
This antique Pilgrim century English oak joint stool is circa late 17th/early 18th century. It has a nice thumb-molded single plank top. Which appears to be original, while still retaining its original pegs. There is a beautiful molded apron on all four sides, and nice vase and ball turned legs, supported by squared stretchers. It also has its original feet. The construction of this joint stool is pegged, mortise and tenon. The surface is a nice warm brown with a pleasing patina. The joint stool measures 21 1/2" high x 18" wide x 10 1/2" deep. It is in good condition overall. There is a partial crack on the top. From age. One leg shows wear or damage(as shown in the last photo) but it has since been stabilized, showing no further damage. It is a very sturdy stool, with no loose joints. There are two repairs to the apron, one ... moreon the shorter side, and one on the longer side. These repairs have been done meticulously, and I am mentioning them just for accuracy. Please zoom in on all of the pictures for detailed close-ups. This joint stool is really a nice survivor of an earlier time. With good color and wonderful form. ENGLISH PINE AND OAK ANTIQUE CHURCH PEW OR HALL BENCH England. Predominantly 18th Century with restorations Item# 411YGM15 A beautifully worn and patinated piece. This antique English storage bench was crafted at some early point in the 18th Century. The craftsmanship is typical of the era, utilizing through tenons to join the majority of the frame, single and double pinning most joints with wooden pins with the back panels deeply chamfered on the back edges to rest in rabbet grooves in the stiles and horizontal braces. The seat has two lifting panels that allow items to be easily stored within(though the right side is lacking it's bottom boards) Rough and rugged with it's beautiful glowing patina. This is such a treasure for any French country style home or a classical Georgian interior. It would look very striking in a broad entryway ... moreor hall, particularly to compliment thick wooden floors. Sturdy and strong, this is a very functional and enjoyable piece that was built to last the test of time and will continue to do so for many years to come. Measurements: 50 1/2" W x 57 3/4" H x 20 1/2" D(at the arms) 18 7/8" D(at the frame) 18" H to seat Condition Report: Predominantly 18th century with extensive restoration: three feet with splice repairs and restoration; plank backing the lifting lid on seat has a spliced repair. Probably from hinges breaking out; two hinges period and probably, two replaced. Two replaced bottom boards, missing bottom boards under right seat; seat planks are probably replaced. Surface is beautifully patinated with a glowing waxed finish; typical use indicators, including extensive scarring, scratches, inactive pest damage, etc. as expected. Other components may be replaced, but we haven't examined every plank for originality as it is not a value determinant. Overall very sturdy and strong. Probably c.1680 vintage or thereabouts. Lovely Stool with molded apron with shaped corners. Molded edge single plank top. Splayed turned legs. Retains a lot of it's original toe or hoof-shaped feet on bottom. Pegged and mortice& tennon construction(several extra very old square nails added as well on the top in it's history) Nice old dark color to wood which has a coat of vintage varnish on surface which has wear to it as found in estate. This piece is coming fresh out of a nice estate that was filled with nice-quality antique items this past weekend. I assume it is probably an English stool. But uncertain of origin myself.
