Up for auction is one vintage"S" sign piece. This is one neat old"S" The main body looks to be made from tin/galvanized steel? And the red and gold look like maybe plastic? The main body was painted at some point maybe? The red and gold front is in decent shape for its age. It shows some scuffing on the red, and weathering on the top edges of the gold where the sun and weather hit it. However, it looks nice! The Front can be removed for access to the internals. Although, the neon is no longer inside: I am sure it would be easy to re install neon if so desired. It measures 22 1/4" tall. 11 1/4" wide, and 6" deep. It has various mounting holes, and is drilled for neon. It also only weighs just under 7lbs, so could be hung on a wall easily! Wonderful Art Deco/1930's Cast Bronze& Enamel Shop Sign Letter'U' Heavy cast bronze capital letter'U' in what appears to be' Tim es' typeface. Infilled with cream coloured fired enamel. With multi coloured fleck finish enamel on the underside. Four threaded fastenings on rear for screwing to a fascia. Excellent vintage condition. The enamel does not have any cracks or significant damage. But there are a couple of very small surface marks around two of the inner corners, which may possibly have been created as part of the original enamel process(see last photo) These are not readily evident, but are mentioned for clarity. Vintage Carnival Game Concession Sign Letter S Painted Wood (read details)
Only the letter is included in this auction. Not the old ride. Just wanted to give you an idea where they came from. The letters are 12 inches high and 8 inches wide and about 1/2 inch thick wood. They each have a metal eyelet that was used to hang the letters on a board. Doing it this way they could change the sign without making a new one. The carnival was operated thoughout the southeast and midsouth from the late 50's through the 60's. The letters were in barrels and boxes and as you can see have suffered some abuse. Some are white. Some are blue, some are red, but all are scraped up and look like they have been painted several times over the years. I will combine shipping as much as possible and will be listing several over the next few days.

This fair/carnival outfit ran an average of 6 concessions at each event. Usually working 4-5 events at the same time across NC, SC,GA andFL. Their home base was near Fayetteville NC. The operation started in the late 50's and ran until the late 70's when they sold out. Many of the letters and signs are beyond use. However, the letters and signs you see listed have been cleaned with an organic mixture that removes any dirt, mildew or mold. Most were stored in a metal trailer and if you have ever been to NC in the summer you know the intense heat and humidity they have been xposed to inside the trailer. What a great christmas item for you friend in Los Angels. I was told this neon light was made in the 1940's but don't hold me to it. It doesn't work. It measures 21" across and 17" high. x 5" deep. The case is made of metal. You take the red plastic cover off and wind x-mas lights or LED strings around the existing neon tubing. There are holes in the back where cord comes out and plugs into wall. In pretty good condition but there are two stress cracks on the sides of the red cover. Not the front. And some dark drip marks that might come off. It weighs 6-1/2 lbs. before packaging. I try to ship the cheapest way but safely. Due to its age and in case I might have missed something, this item is sold"as is" so please ask questions before bidding. They have light scuffs& scratches, as well as wear and imperfections that comes from being actual used signage pieces, but it could actually be painted if you want a different color. I'm using the postage calculator on this. And sometimes it charges too much for postage. Vintage Carnival Game Concession Sign Letter 5*s Painted Wood (read desc)
These stars are about 5 1/2 inches across. I have tried to find out how they were used but have not been successful. Each has a steel wire attached to it. I have about 120 of them and selling them in lots of 5. This fair/carnival outfit ran an average of 6 concessions at each event. Usually working 4-5 events at the same time across NC, SC,GA andFL. Their home base was near Fayetteville NC. The operation started in the late 50's and ran until the late 70's when they sold out. Many of the letters and signs are beyond use. However, the letters and signs you see listed have been cleaned with an organic mixture that removes any dirt, mildew or mold. Most were stored in a metal trailer and if you have ever been to NC in the summer you know the intense heat and humidity they have been xposed to inside the trailer. Thus, the poor condition ... moreof the paint. Only the letter is included in this auction. Not the old ride. Just wanted to give you an idea where they came from. The letters are 12 inches high and 8 inches wide and about 1/2 inch thick wood. They each have a metal eyelet that was used to hang the letters on a board. Doing it this way they could change the sign without making a new one. The carnival was operated thoughout the southeast and midsouth from the late 50's through the 60's. The letters were in barrels and boxes and as you can see have suffered some abuse. Some are white. Some are blue, some are red, but all are scraped up and look like they have been painted several times over the years. I will combine shipping as much as possible and will be listing several over the next few days.
