Wrought Iron Scotty Sign " Clover Hill "
For your consideration is a very nice wrought iron sign that I would guess is from the 1950's or 60's that has a large Scotty dog standing in the grass along with the words Clover Hill cut into the iron. I am not sure what Clover Hill represents but I can tell you that it was found near the Ohio-Pennsylvania border. The upper section which the sign hangs from is very decorative and well made as is the Scotty and lettering. The entire bottom section has a great hammered look.Superb definition to the Scotty and two eyelets near the bottom for another possible attatchment such as an address etc. It measures approx 33 1/2 x 27 overall with the bottom square section being approx 22 1/4 x 16 1/2 in. Antique Trade Sign Cast Iron Horse and Wrought Iron Bracket At first I thought this was a reproduction because the bolts are modern. But it is old. Circa late 1800s to early 1900s. And it was restored. The thick, glossy black paint also makes it look new, but again, it is old. There are washers welded on around the mounting holes and it looks like there is a welded repair to the scroll where it meets the mounting plate. There is pitting on one side of the horse and the other is smooth. The black paint is chipped off on the back of the orse and you can see old gold paint underneith the black. There is pitting all over the wrought iron scroll and bracket. Up for sale is a late 1800s early 1900s iron sign that reads"OLD MILL INN TOWN HOUSE THURSDAY 12:15" This item itself is heavy. About 6 pounds, and the front and back have some metal pitting. The mounting suggests it was once attached to a building or a sign of sorts. Not exactly sure what the reference is to, but thought it was interesting and would make a cool piece for a garden or home. It is about 2.5 feet by 0.5 feet. It is also thicker than a modern sign.
