What a great christmas item for you friend in Los Angels. I was told this neon light was made in the 1940's but don't hold me to it. It doesn't work. It measures 21" across and 17" high. x 5" deep. The case is made of metal. You take the red plastic cover off and wind x-mas lights or LED strings around the existing neon tubing. There are holes in the back where cord comes out and plugs into wall. In pretty good condition but there are two stress cracks on the sides of the red cover. Not the front. And some dark drip marks that might come off. It weighs 6-1/2 lbs. before packaging. I try to ship the cheapest way but safely. Huge vintage 1940/50s cinema marquee letter G metal and perspex - 41cm tall
Awesome large vintage 1940/50s cinema marquee letter G coated cast aluminium and perspex Stunning large cinema marquee letter/number thought to be from around the 1940s. Outer shape is made from cast aluminium and then coated with plastic and the inner is made from black perspex. Very rare for UK as most are in the US. This auction is for the letter G. Size is large at 41cm/16" high. This is a vintage item that has been exposed to the elements so bears the marks of time. The perspex has scratches and the outer plastic has the odd nick and mark here and there. All of this simply adds character though so only mentioned for completeness and to ensure bidders are not expecting new pristine items. Reverse has corroded screws that do not show. I have stripped one of the other letters and it polishes nicely so easy to do the same if you prefer ... morea metal finish. See letter N in the photos. The Z in the photos shows what they look like without the perspex. You can change the colour of the perspex if you prefer.
