I took the liberty to copy this from the wonderful'Gazeteer of Lock& Key Makers' There probably could be an epic film made about the'goings on' in the cut throat business of Safe's and Locks! George Price would certainly be a main protagonist! page 3 Demonstrations of resistance to fire In 1854. George set up his first public demonstration of the fire-resistance of his safes. Public demonstrations were supposed to prove that manufacturers' claims and advertisements were true. George gives an account in his Treatise of this first demonstration, which he asked a Milner's foreman to assist him in setting up. Soon after taking over the business of which I am now proprietor. Relying on the statements of other makers as well as on the assurances of a person in my employ, as to the fire-resisting ... morecapabilities of safes made fire-proof by the use of a simple non-conductor(which activated the production of steam to preserve the contents) I had a public test of two safes made on this principle and invited my friends and fellow townsmen to be present a the trial. This auction is for a vintage cast aluminum garden sign with detachable spike. The sign measures approx 14" x 7 3/4" The stake measures about 21 1/2" long. The front has the"Kiss of the Sun" poem in raised letters and the back is marked Moultrie Mfg. Co. Moultrie, Ga. It is in good original condition with most of the paint intact. Appears to have been well cared for. I think it dates from the 1950's or 60's. Low minimum bid.

With multi coloured fleck finish enamel on the underside. Four threaded fastenings on rear for screwing to a fascia. Excellent vintage condition. The enamel does not have any cracks or significant damage. I took this sign off a fence at a building we are taking down there was one on the front gate and one on the gate in the back yard(I have two but may keep one) it measures 7 1/4 inches long by 3 3/4 inches high and is 1/4 inch thick and is very heavy cast iron. it is green with white letters and as you can see in pics has a great patina with light surface rust for character or could be repainted and comes with the old rusted flat head screws that were in it when taken down.shipping will be $6 in the lower 48 USA states. if you are Alaska. Huge Lot of Antique Vintage Marquee Advertising Letters Cast Bronze Aluminum OLD
Huge lot of old vintage cast metal letters for marquee or advertising signs. Almost 9 pounds of letters being offered! Includes 1 large K letter 7 7/8" tall; 61 letters about 3 3/4" to 4" high and these look like cast aluminum or alloy metal and a couple have mare marks on the back side; 15 smaller size letters about 2 3/4" tall also probably aluminum or allot metal; and 21 smaller size letters that are mostly cast bronze and brass. I counted 98 letters in total- 97 are fine and 1 is broken in 2 pieces but both pieces are present. All came from a local estate where the family had owned a metal casting business for several generations. I guarantee these are all older vintage cast metal letters.
